Are you cleaning Shopping?

As the title says are you cleaning shopping from the supermarket?

I've been going over shopping with an antibacterial wipe but some of my friends don't bother and was wondering what everyone else is doing?

No of course not, that would be a waste of time.

lughnasadh · 24/09/2020 17:38

No. It's such a pointless waste of time.

SummersNearlyOver20 · 24/09/2020 17:38

Never have & never will

Bluntness100 · 24/09/2020 17:39

And stop using wipes, they are terrible for the environment, and to waste them on something this pointless isn’t ok.

Soozikinzii · 24/09/2020 17:40

No and never did

Jrobhatch29 · 24/09/2020 17:40

I'm embarrassed to admit I did for a few weeks in March (I was heavily pregnant and a bit terrified tbh). I soon realised it was taking absolutely forever to put away and gave up. I can't imagine still doing it 6 months later though. My Mam still does though and was mortified a few weeks ago when we were out for a walk and popped into a shop for a bottle of water, and then drank from the bottle without cleaning it. The horror.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 24/09/2020 17:41

Yes, we wipe down shopping before putting it away as many people could have touched it and left germs behind. Don’t fancy putting it straight into the fridge or cupboards and like the children to be able to help themselves safely to what they want.

Pachonga · 24/09/2020 17:41

I did used to wipe it down with antibac but the advice now is not to bother, the amount of the virus found on packaging wouldn’t be nearly enough to cause a case. Avoiding humans far more effective.

JKRowlingIsMyQueen · 24/09/2020 17:41

No

Rosehassometoes · 24/09/2020 17:42

Not now but I might start again

Juststopswimming · 24/09/2020 17:43

God, no

TheGreatWave · 24/09/2020 17:45

No, never have, never will.

Bluntness100 · 24/09/2020 17:45

I think the fact that delivery drivers and supermarket staff aren’t keeling over at a rate of noughts tells you all you need to know...

Helenj1977 · 24/09/2020 17:46

Yes. I have been since March.

We anti our hands because we're touching things others have touched, why not shopping?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/09/2020 17:48

No, I really don't consider it necessary

DappledOliveGroves · 24/09/2020 17:49

No, absolutely not. I refuse to live my life with that level of paranoia.

PleasantVille · 24/09/2020 17:50

Did you type this out in March and forget to pres post GrinGrin

Surely this has been done to death

ptumbi · 24/09/2020 17:51

No I never did. As said, 'keyworkers' are not keeling over at a rate of Knots. Yeah, many people might have touched your shopping, but the risk of this person, any person, having active Covid, breathing or sneezing on your shopping, is minute. Even if there are particles on your tins, they are unlikely to be viable. And even if they are, wash your hands after putting the tins away.

And stop feeding The Fear.

holidayseeker · 24/09/2020 17:52

No, my dm does and I have told her many times not to.

Mydarlingsleepthief · 24/09/2020 17:53

No it’s absolutely bonkers

Triangularbubble · 24/09/2020 17:53

No. I don’t sanitise my shopping trolley, quarantine post or gel my children’s hands between playground equipment either. If I get covid it will be because my children are spending all day being breathed and coughed on by 30 people. So be it.

Etty89 · 24/09/2020 17:53

Well I imagined a lot of people did it in March and was wondering if others still were now.

Clearly it's a mix and everyone's doing what makes them feel comfortable.

Antibacterial cleaner doesn't kill coronavirus though does it?
Doesn't it have to be a bleach solution or 62% + alcohol based?

Bluntness100 · 24/09/2020 17:57

How’s it a mix? There’s about twenty people said no and two said yes. A mix is kinda pushing it there...

Southernsoftie76 · 24/09/2020 17:58

Might do if my area becomes high risk and probably only items that go in the fridge or freezer.
