So much worry and anxiety at the moment. Would any people who have been tested positive recently and only had it mildly like to share their stories.

Eldest child had it. Only got tested as around someone positive. Only symptom was a mild headache and one day with no taste. Absolutely nothing else. Didn’t spend a moment in bed, didn’t take any medication. Was a total non event which he wouldn’t even had registered pre Covid. Nobody else in the family got it. A number of other teens had it, again nothing more than the mildest symptoms

My dad has a cough. That was it.

Aunt in her 70’s also had it. Felt breathless when in the gym which was the first sign. Felt a bit under the weather for a couple of days

Friend had it. Felt off for a few days, not in bed or anything like that. Felt like she had a tight bra across her chest.

Another 2 friends, different families. Lost taste and smell. Both positive. Rest of family didn’t catch.

84 year old grandad had it. Type 1 diabetes, suffers from COPD and was hospitalised following a stroke.

Only tested in hospital as he was due to move back to his care home, he didn’t have a single symptom.

Useruseruserusee · 23/09/2020 21:42

My brother in law had it in March, wasn’t tested but has since had a positive antibody test.

He said it felt like a cold, he spent a few days in bed and then much better.

One nephew appears to have had it with a mild cough for two days.

Jrobhatch29 · 23/09/2020 21:43

I know 5 people recently:
Two children/sisters - cold symptoms
30s BAME male - cold symptoms back to work after the 10 days. His wife and 3 kids didn't catch. He was back go work before they finished their isolation
60s woman has blood clotting disorder - described as heavy cold
60s man only tested as has contact with positive case and wive ECV - positive but asymptomatic and wife didn't catch

Flowerpot868 · 23/09/2020 21:45

Just had it, blinding headache for 3 days then a cough and lost my sense of taste for a day or so but that was it, no issues after 4/5 days. Husband lost his sense of taste/smell but never had any other symptoms, he was absolutely fine (he had it first, got tested as part of his work). I suspect my kids had it as they've both got coughs but I'm not bothering to test them.

This is what I don't understand. If they say it's so contagious, why don't all the household get it??
Layladylay234 · 23/09/2020 21:47

Thanks all for this. So many people are so scared and worried. And I get people need to be cautious but it's also good to hear about these mild cases x

I don't get it either. Also the parents of the two children tested negative.

trying29 · 23/09/2020 21:48

I understand people have it mildly. I know someone who was 17 and had a mild cold in April. Recovered after a week. Last month she was diagnosed with myocarditis as a result of that ‘mild’ covid. We don’t know the long term effects

Bimbleboo · 23/09/2020 21:49

Thank you for this thread. This has been such an antidote to how upset and anxious this evening has been for me.

ohthegoats · 23/09/2020 21:51

2 friends have had it, one guy in 40s, in bed for a week with what his wife described as 'man flu'. She got it next, also in her 40s, said it was a bad cold for her. Children showed no signs of anything.

Zebrasandfairytales · 23/09/2020 21:52

Was so worried when Covid arrived in my Nanas care home.

She is 95, diabetic, dementia and stays in bed permanently now. Because of the context around age and underlying health conditions i was very scared for her. She tested positive and was completely asymptomatic.

Yes,I know about long Covid as do most peoole. it's covered in great detail on Mumsnet. I actually started a thread about it a few weeks ago. This thread is there to ease a little bit of anxiety about mild cases, not a reminder about long Covid

Why doesn't a household all get it? Most likely they do but their immune system t cell crash it before it takes hold and not creating any antibodies.

That's obviously a shame but myocarditis has always been a side effect of viral infections. My mam got it 3 years ago after mild flu.

Great thread!

I am over 50 so supposedly high risk (no co-morbidities though)

I had it in May. I assume this because I felt a bit tired, general aches and pains and a bit "off" for a couple of days. Not bad enough to stay off work and not specific enough to get a swab

My antibody test was positive

KnobChops · 23/09/2020 21:59

Me (NHS) and DH got it just before lockdown. We commuted daily during the peak so it wasn’t a surprise. I have since had positive antibody blood test at work.

DH: mild fever, myalgia and fatigue one night, felt fine by the next day.
Me: mild fever, myalgia and fatigue, lasted a couple of days but nothing bad. Have had worse colds. I suspected Covid a week late when lost my sense of smell and had mild breathlessness walking uphill. Got gradually better over a week.

We’re old gimmers, late 40s, BMI 30. No other health problems.

30% of the hospital staff subsequently tested positive for antibodies and the vast majority felt fine. We had loads completely asymptomatic, some with mild headaches only.

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 23/09/2020 21:59

In terms of why while households aren’t getting it - I think it just be like colds, other viruses and sickness bugs. Some people’s immune systems will fight it off.

I also know of a child who had it and parents didn’t catch it. Child didn’t have any major symptoms but was contact traced. This was a couple of months ago.

Deux · 23/09/2020 22:01

Friend’s 87 year old FIL who I know. Has major kidney problems, diabetes, obese. In and out of hospital. Tested positive (Thought to have caught in hosp) with no symptoms and no worsening of underlying conditions. Has recovered and recently tested negative.

Bathroom12345 · 23/09/2020 22:06

Same here, 86 year old DF. Caught it in hospital, loads of underlying health conditions. No symptoms, back in care home. The media need to stop the scary stories and bring out the more positive ones.

EasyOver · 23/09/2020 22:18

My mum and dad (both late 70s) had it - bad cough, fatigue, loss of smell. Felt better after 2 weeks
I had it (late 40s) and again cough, fatigue, loss of smell. Felt better after a week
Twin boys (both 19) loss of smell for a week
15 yr old had covid toes and no other symptoms
50yr old DH didn’t get it!!! Negative result. Jammy bugger.
Anyway, none of us had long covid. All back to full health.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/09/2020 22:37

These stories are really helping my anxiety.
Thanks
