So much worry and anxiety at the moment. Would any people who have been tested positive recently and only had it mildly like to share their stories.

Not me, a colleague, 60 year old male, nhs consultant, tested positive on routine screening. No symptoms at all.

Remmy123 · 23/09/2020 22:43

People I know who had it in 40's and no symptoms at all (had regular test due to thier job) family members and new born baby didn't get it.

Another friend had it, had a cold - continued to share bed with wife - she never got it nor did thier kids. He got it because someone positive sneezed directly in his face.

fairislecable · 23/09/2020 22:55

Thank you for this thread a little glimmer of light in these dark days.

MadameBlobby · 23/09/2020 23:14

I heard of a 99 year old lady in a care home who got it with no symptoms

My sister knows someone in his 70s with cancer who only found out he had it as tested before chemo. No symptoms

My parents neighbours -family of 7 and only the dad in his 50s and one teenage daughter got it. Mild and recovered

Fidgety31 · 23/09/2020 23:16

I got a positive result today but my kids are negative . I would’ve thought they would catch it too ?!

Mippi · 23/09/2020 23:22

One in 4 negative tests are false negatives, so one of the reasons that whole families don't test positive may be that the tests aren't accurate.

Also as many as 2 out of 3 people have it with no symptoms.

It's true that for most people, the vast majority of people, it won't be the worst illness they've ever had by far.

FromEden · 24/09/2020 01:23

This is what I don't understand. If they say it's so contagious, why don't all the household get it??

Studies have found that most people dont pass it on, even within the same household. Most of the spread comes from super spreading individuals or events. This article is from May but I dont think much has changed since then. There was a German study too which found that most people didn't infect those they lived with.

This thread is so positive to read Smile

DH and I recently had tests as a routine part of our jobs.
DH has tested positive - he wouldn’t have known otherwise. Honestly, you’d think it was a mistake.
I tested negative.

miimblemomble · 24/09/2020 08:07

I’ve got it right now! Positive test yesterday, which I didn’t expect. Feels like a cold - headache, blocked nose, bit fatigued and wobbly - But no fever, no cough etc. I could probably wfh if I had to.

Frazzled2207 · 24/09/2020 08:27

Those who have it right now- get well soon.

Thanks for the positive thread- I really need this. There has been a confirmed case “within the school community” Confused do we are bracing ourselves. I will do all I can to avoid passing it on to my parents but I feel mentally prepared to have it (high risk area)

Hi,can I ask,did you have any of the classic symptoms? Started last night with a dodgy tummy. I woke up last night with a sore throat on the left side and a bit of ear ache. Feeling just generally rubbish today. No temp and no cough. But I know sore throat can be an indicator.

Well of the two cases I’ve heard of recently ...

One is friends young child (7) had a slight cough, got tested, is positive, no ill effects at all, spending all his time in the garden playing football and on the trampoline.

Relative’s teenage daughters (16), got tested as a close contact, is positive, had one day where she felt ‘tired’ but other than that, absolutely nothing.

Neither passed it on to immediate family either.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/09/2020 08:42

Apparently it's not that contagious - only 50% chance of getting it if you share a bed with someone

Chaotic45 · 24/09/2020 08:43

My friend was an adolescent asthma specialist nurse in a large hospital. Her job has now been changed to supporting young people with heart, circulatory and breathing problems following Covid. Most of them had few or no symptoms when they had covid, but these major issues appeared months afterwards.

RaffleYerself · 24/09/2020 08:45

Sure, sure, that’s an utterly believable anecdote. (Cough, bullshit, cough)

Did you read the thread title?
Newgirls · 24/09/2020 08:50

I know quite a few people who’ve had it - were tested as they work in hospitals. Only one of them felt ill and said it was for her a headache that lasted a couple of days. Slight temp. Completely fine after. The others had no symptoms at all and felt fine.

Most people will get no or very mild symptoms 👍

Layladylay234 · 24/09/2020 08:50

@Jrobhatch29,I know right.

Sorry, should add I know 3 HCP's who all developed it during the peak. Ages range from late 20s to early 60s. Had bad fought but fine and back at work now. My friend who works in retail in London also had it in April and is fine

OP posts:
TheKeatingFive · 24/09/2020 09:06

Yes I know three 30-45 year olds who had it at the peak, all absolutely fine after a few weeks, totally back to normal now.

Just to counter the ‘everyone will get long Covid and be doomed for life’ narrative on here.

Flower262 · 24/09/2020 09:15

Dd (17) currently has it. Cold all last week, mild occasional cough started Sunday, so we’re all now isolating. She feels absolutely fine.

There are over 20 cases in her school bubble.

DD’s boyfriend who she spends lots of time with has tested negative.

Dh, younger Dd, and myself all fine and no symptoms.

CornflakeMum · 24/09/2020 09:48

Can I ask, how/where are people getting antibody tests?
I'm pretty sure I had it (mildly) in March/April but of course wasn't tested then.

AgentCooper · 24/09/2020 09:53

Two year old nephew and 40 something colleague both had it. Both mild, both fine now.
