So much worry and anxiety at the moment. Would any people who have been tested positive recently and only had it mildly like to share their stories.

@CornflakeMum

Can I ask, how/where are people getting antibody tests? I'm pretty sure I had it (mildly) in March/April but of course wasn't tested then.
Healthcare and local authority staff are offered them for free through their employer. You can pay for them privately at pharmacies too - Superdrug do them.
smallandimperfectlyformed · 24/09/2020 10:01

My friend had it. Only tested as he works as a nurse with vulnerable patients. He said he just felt like he had hay fever, his partner felt worse (but he said he always suffers from 'man flu' anyway!) and his mum and her partner didn't really suffer much either. All fine thank goodness. My niece and brother both believe that they had it in March/April and they are fine now (niece in particular is vulnerable as asthmatic and had cancer a few years ago).

difficulttod · 24/09/2020 10:04

DP was selected at random for the antibody test and it came back positive, meaning he's had it at some point. But if he hadn't taken the test we'd never have known, he hasn't been ill at all.

Newgirls · 24/09/2020 10:16

I don’t think antibody tests work after 3 months or so so don’t rush to get one now if you had it in March

NastyBlouse · 24/09/2020 10:31

I had it really early on. It was like a moderate if odd cold. Headache, about a day of feeling weary and clammy. Annoying cough for a week or so. Lost my sense of smell and taste. Taste came back after a few days, sense of smell took weeks. If I hadn't known about covid I'd have chalked it up to a slightly weird cold.

@Layladylay234

Sorry, should add I know 3 HCP's who all developed it during the peak. Ages range from late 20s to early 60s. Had bad fought but fine and back at work now. My friend who works in retail in London also had it in April and is fine
We have 2 friends who worked on covid wards and one who is a paramedic and none of them have caught it. Or if they have they've been asymptomatic but their families unaffected too. The paramedic said at the beginning, people making sandwiches in subway had more PPE than him as well. One of the nurses didn't have masks for her first few shifts either. She also said that her friends who did catch it mainly suffered headaches and sore throats

Yes, you see this is how I would describe what I had - an "odd" cold. Sore throat, weariness and a heaviness in my chest with a bit of coughing/constant throat clearing. No loss of taste or smell though.

Whenever I have a cold it tends to follow the same pattern, but this was something quite different. It didn't match the covid symptoms at the time though.

90 year old grandmother, autoimmune & lung disease, dementia, blood clotting disorder, tested positive on routine testing, no symptoms, tested positive weekly for 9 weeks but never poorly throughout it all.

I also thought this but a lady I work with who tested positive in hospital In March had a positive antibody test last week, so did her family members who also caught it from her in March.
bookworm14 · 25/09/2020 21:09

I had it in March (only found out three months later due to a positive antibody test). I felt a bit achy, runny nose, my stomach was upset and my sense of taste was affected. No fever or dry cough. I was fine after a day or two.

Newgirls · 26/09/2020 12:01

User - it might be down to the level of infection? I have no idea! Reports seem to say within 3 months for anti tests tho I guess always exceptions

SebandAlice · 26/09/2020 12:09

I know 4 people

  1. HCP - age 40’s positive swab but zero symptoms
  1. HCP - age 40’s sore throat and felt a little off for a couple of days
  1. Man early 80’s - no symptoms
  1. Woman early 80’s - mild symptoms
Inastatus · 26/09/2020 12:43

Thank you for such a positive thread OP.

I’ve got what I thought was just a bog standard cold - runny nose, sore throat etc. Just interested to hear of people who tested positive with these symptoms and wondering if I should try and get a test ...

ticolac · 26/09/2020 12:54

My DH had it in March. Extreme fatigue, aching limbs, loss of taste and smell, very high temperatures at night. Fully recovered after 2-3 weeks. Didn't get tested at the time. However he was selected to participate in NHS antibody survey, which he did on Monday. Tested positive for the longer lasting antibodies.
I had an illness in March too, loss of taste and smell for approx 5 days, and constant low level headache. Both of which I would have just put down to being one of those things and carried on as usual, except it was the first week or so of lockdown. Assume therefore we both had it.
DS showed no symptoms so no idea if he got it or not.

ilikebooksandplants · 27/09/2020 20:20

70 yr old FIL had it. Was very poorly in a ‘this is shit I feel awful way’ but required no medical intervention, just stayed in bed for a week. Now back to normal.

SIL also had it (unrelated to above!) and said that under normal circumstances with the symptoms she had/how she was feeling that she would have had a paracetamol and gone into work and just had a few early nights.

Interestingly (at least to me!) neither of their partners became ill/had any symptoms/have any reason to suspect they have had the virus, even though they lived together/shared a bed with them while they were ill.

So not all bad. Smile

Lollyneenah · 27/09/2020 20:36

DP- 2 day headache but not a migraine. Hes fine, totally totally fine- has 5 more days of isolation left

TwilightSkies · 27/09/2020 20:48

Lost my smell and taste for 4-5 days. No other symptoms and felt totally fine. Eating was boring though!

DD aged 4 just had a sore throat and mild temp for 2-3 days, calpol sorted her out.

DD 15 didn’t get it.

RegularHumanBartender · 27/09/2020 20:54

My boss had it recently. Only symptom was a high temperature for one day. He is 70 and a type 1 diabetic. Nobody in the office caught it and we are a small office.

MidtoLon · 27/09/2020 21:24

Relative had it in March following ski trip to France just before lockdown. Cough temperature fatigue like bad flu with loss of taste and smell. Lasted about 10-14 days in total. No test then. Fine since. He volunteered to donate plasma and apparently had and continues to have very high levels of antibodies. His wife caught it (had not been to France) mild cough and temperature with loss of taste and smell for about 4 days fine since. Their 2 children both had temperatures that lasted less than 24 hours but no other symptoms.

Stringervest · 28/09/2020 19:24

SIL has it currently. She had cold symptoms all last week and then she lost her sense of taste and smell on Friday. She said she felt much worse in January when she had a fever and a cough (which I caught from her, we all thought it was covid although that seems unlikely now).

BIL also has what he thought was a cold and no classic symptoms but now he's wondering and has been advised to get a test.

LolaLollypop · 28/09/2020 19:41

Grandad-in-law (almost 93) caught it whilst in hospital for something else. We all thought it was the end and were so sad we couldn’t say our goodbyes so I named my new DS after him as a nice gesture.
Jammy bugger is back at home now and still going. His only symptom was a cough!

Luckily I liked the name anyway Grin

plipplopwillywillyplopplop · 29/09/2020 20:08

I had a temp, nausea, body aches and fatigue. Didn't feel Brilliant for a few days but felt much worse with the adenovirus last year before which went on for weeks and felt and looked shocking.

Most of my team have had it, none of them seriously. My dad and sibling were also unwell. Nobodies partner got it oddly enough.

Lottiebugz22 · 29/09/2020 21:05

Place marking.
This thread is reassuring.
