@ksohh0

Many people on full time lower wages (min wage up to a few grand above) have little in the way of savings and live primarily paycheck to paycheck. The £500 only applies if you are eligible to claim one of the listed benefits, so the rest of us have to take a huge financial hit, thanks!
Exactly. Me and dp both earn below the national average, him a little less, me over 10 grand less. We aren't entitled to anything but child benefit. We won't get this payment. I can WFH luckily but if any of us get covid we will be totally fucked financially because ssp is not enough.

All the more reason to not get tested if you're ill and give fake numbers if you even bother going to some place that asks for contact details. Stupid AF policy to punish the working poor for daring to make a living. They've frozen benefits payments again, too. Divide and conquer!

£500, what a fucking insult. Won't pay your rent or bills for about 90% of the renting population.

Given that they have failed to monitor those returning from holiday that should have quarantined, not sure how they will monitor the many many more people including children that have tested positive or been in contact with a positive case. They do not have the resources, hence the call on people to snitch on their neighbours. They have no way of monitoring this especially in winter when everyone is indoors.
