Wwyd. Family not self isolating

For 2 days both my dds have come home saying a boy in my older dds has a high temp is waiting for a test. He put on fb that he's waiting for a test.

His brother is in my youngest dds class and has been in school as normal.

I don't know if does have symptoms or if he has something else.

Wwyd?? 2 different schools so not easy to report.

I wouldn’t be doing anything

No one will thank you when entire year has to isolate

Perhaps they are misunderstanding the guidance also kids and FB not always reliable sources of information

In our school only the child in question needs to isolate until results. Other family members can continue as normal.

@Mychitchatdays but the guidance is if someone in the household has symptoms and needs a test, then the full household needs to isolate.

OP, I’d contact your school and look how them know that a pupils sibling is awaiting a test.

Thanks all. I've told the school who will investigate. They confirmed it's 14 day isolation for the whole family or until a negative result comes back.

It's not my business why he's off, the boy shouldn't be telling friends it's due to cv symptoms of its not though. We're all trying to keep our kids safe in school and this doesn't help.

How old is the younger child? Is there a childcare issue here? A parent that can’t afford to take time off work?

@BunsyGirl the home situation is irrelevant.

In our town, one boy had a test, then went to school before he had the results. He took ill at school and didn't tell the matron about his test. He was found positive, meaning a whole year group having to self-isolate, and others he'd been in contact with.

Hopefully he'll just have a cold, but the ramifications for others could be worse if other year groups have to isolate due to exposure.

Snitching? This isn't the playground. It's because people are breaking the law that cases have gone up. If people are too stupid to keep to the rules they need to be reported.

@WishIWasSomewhereElse It’s irrelevant is it? What a lovely caring person you and the OP are. I know of one person who died of Covid and three people who committed suicide during lockdown. Think about that. The OP may have just pushed someone else over the edge.

But it is irrelevant. If one person in the household is showing symptoms then everyone has to isolate. It's not the op who has decided that but the government

I would absolutely thank her if my dc was in the same class and at risk of catching Covid from them.

I want my kids in school for as long as possible. One parent is possibly being extremely selfish if he has got symptoms.

If they're at home for 2 weeks, that's 2 weeks learning they miss out on.

The class don’t have to isolate unless someone has a positive test. The younger brother doesn’t have symptoms as far as we know so the class don’t have to isolate.

Not the class but the younger boy should not be in school.

On the other hand, the OP may just have protected someone like my child, with underlying conditions, from dying due to the selfish action of this family. Thank you, OP. You did the right thing. This is nothing like ‘snitching’ on neighbours because you suspect they are breaking rules. This may directly impact on the OP’s family.

If he’s lying, then he needs spoken to about that and the seriousness of lying about this virus, explained to him.
