I tried the website to book a test but it wasn’t coming up with anything. Just wondering how you managed to book your test? X

Snap! I wonder if they opened up the slots at 10?

Report
Augustbreeze · 10/09/2020 10:46

Posters have said they release more slots at 8, 10 and 8pm apparently.

Keep checking and refreshing. It took a full day and I got one on Tuesday at 6pm for yesterday morning. No results yet though so my son has so far missed 3 days of his first week back at school since March. What a shitshow!

The website is an utter shit show, if ever I saw one. I tried multiple London postcodes and was repeatedly told there are no testing centers. We turned up to a mobile walk-in facility (where zero people were being tested) and was tested quickly. I registered the barcodes online after the tests. It was great! There is no way I am keeping my DV from school for 2 weeks unnecessarily. The shitty government should have anticipated spikes in schools and made kits available to prevent yet another stressful situation for working (and single) parents going crazy trying to find a test.

10am loads of slots came up today - at the same time DH took son to walk in place in city centre that let them test with no apt !
It's beyond crazy how bad the test situation has been this week so much stress and disruption
I do understand the need to isolate but it is really hard when there's a perfectly otherwise healthy household unable to go to work and school because of a cough that could be quickly ruled out in a day or two if the tests were sorted.

They were turning cars of families away in front of us when we arrived, but we were allowed in. No one else in there the whole time. Deft a strange experience but it's over now and DC did me proud.

About the barcodes. I'd read on here we need to register afterwards but I asked through the closed window if I needed to do anything else and I believe I was told no....anyone know if I'm supposed to do anything with those barcode cards?

Yes go to the 'register my test' website, how will they know who the sample belongs to unless you enter your details?

Yes go to the 'register my test' website, how will they know who the sample belongs to unless you enter your details?

But they have my details? I booked the test? They held up the screen with each of our details on to confirm and then scanned the card with the corresponding test.

I think the fact that there are so many variations on this is so confusing!

When I search 'register my test' it states it's only for home test kits?

It shouldn't be this confusing Confused Angry

I’ve done two NHS tests. First was drive through. I registered beforehand and was told to do nothing with the barcodes. They were scanned. Today, I did a walk-in and turned up without booking online. I had to register my barcode online before 11pm today.

Oh yes I forgot it said that, just continue anyway, I think it was just set up a while ago. It worked fine in my case.

Thank you, that makes sense.

August I've checked the cards again and it doesn't say I need to do anything. Surely with three tests, they would have asked me to write the names on them so I knew which belonged to who. I'm pretty sure it's sorted.

Been trying for 3 days but as the person needing the test has no credit history. I cannot book a test online and can't get through on the phone so the person is having to self isolate for 2 weeks I guess unless I am lucky tomorrow. By then it will be day 5 of symptoms .

We got one today by just turning up at a walk in site - I gave up on trying to get an appointment and they did it there and then - we then registered the barcode online

Sorry tiny I'm not sure what you mean? What has credit history got to do with booking a test? If you can book for kids, surely you don't need a credit history?

tinytemper66 · 11/09/2020 06:49

When you go online they use a credit rating for adults and as the person it was helping has no credit record he cannot have a test booked online. (I realise this was a thread for children) but I wanted to say it isnt easy for adults either.

Report
storminabuttercup · 11/09/2020 08:16

Surely that can't be right? Why on Earth do you need a credit rating?

Report
user1471530109 · 11/09/2020 08:34

tiny where have you read that? It only asks for dob and address. You only fill in work details if you've said you've worked out of the home. Why on earth would anyone be excluded from the testing program if we want to get on top of it?

Luckily, I saw on our local FB group just before 8pm that slots were released at that time. Booked in for the next morning and got results the day after the test.

Do you get a confirmation of an appointment? Or need a code or something? I went through the booking, chose my slot, hit next and then it just went to a random page with no confirmation of details or anything. Does that mean we have an appointment or it failed at the last moment? Thanks for your help!
