Yes or no?

OP posts:

Well it's a bit mad that the Government allowed people to attend the Doncaster Races today (I know the next 3 days are with no spectators allowed.)
There were over 3500 people at the race course today. Be interesting to see if there is a big increase in Covid infections over the next few weeks with one common denominator.

AlphaJura · 10/09/2020 00:40

No because I haven't met up with more people than that at a time. I have seen people but not in a big group.

Willyoujustbequiet · 10/09/2020 01:27

Some really selfish idiots on this thread. No wonder cases are rising

purplerainpitcher · 10/09/2020 17:28

One thing I'm confused by. There are 4 people in my MIL household so under new rules only my husband and daughter can go there for lunch which is fine im not bothered but they will come home to me anyway after being around them so why does it make a difference if I'm there or not?

Babymama76 · 10/09/2020 17:29

No. I have been keeping a low profile already. Had I not, then yes I would definitely be changing.

Oscarsdaddy · 10/09/2020 17:29

Most I’ve met up with outside my immediate family is two other people so nothing will change

Our friends and neighbours lad turns 16 next weekend and we’d been hoping to go out for a meal, ten of us do that won’t happen, changed to a takeaway at home but they are six in their household alone so that also may change

SaltyAndFresh · 10/09/2020 17:31

I don't tend to socialise much anyway but I'll pay no attention to this as I'm in a classroom with 180 different people per day with no mask or visor.

FelicisNox · 10/09/2020 17:35

Nope. Don't do it anyway.

queenbee72 · 10/09/2020 17:38

@kwest

Cases are going up because we’re testing more. Simples. More cases doesn’t necessarily mean more deaths.
Quick get on the phone and let the Chief Medical Officer know.
OleWomanInAShoe · 10/09/2020 17:39

I have triplets in three different classes, however they're not allowed to see any of those friends outside of school according to the new laws. Not sure wtf I'm meant to do to celebrate their birthday this Halloween.
Maybe I should start up a business and pay everyone I know and love in cups of tea. Ta-da low risk suddenly.

Gally123 · 10/09/2020 17:40

It has cancelled my holiday - my replacement holiday for the last one cancelled. This was supposed to be a safe 'staycation' huh!

Wheelsonthebus123 · 10/09/2020 17:43

Ummm.....surely it's because you're mixing with all those people that you shouldn't then socialise with others outside of work. In theory school teachers or people with children in school shouldn't mix with anyone outside of school and people that wfh with no children in school or nursery should be able to mix in largish groups with others in a similar situation! Obviously that would be "unfair" and well as unpoliceable hence the current regs!

BryonyBev · 10/09/2020 17:50

I wonder how this will affect Halloween.

Abraid2 · 10/09/2020 17:53

It’s good news if you hate trick or treating.

Just charge all visitors for entry, it's magically safe then.
amispeakingenglish · 10/09/2020 17:57

@nameychange

Yep, we just this weekend put plans into place for DDs 18th after waiting and waiting and now these are not possible. We’d only planned a meal out but we’d be 7 people which isn’t allowed now. Seems unfair that 6 different households is fine but 7 people made up of 2 households isn’t.
I thought if part of your support network or your 'bubble' is was ok, perhaps change to a meal in? I don't believe in these bubbles as if you think about it they are a nonsense! Feel for your and your DD .....
Wheelsonthebus123 · 10/09/2020 18:00

Well of course it's not magically safe but it's called "risk vs benefit" low tax revenue costs lives as there is no money to fund public services etc. Can you not just celebrate birthdays with your own family?

Ethelfleda · 10/09/2020 18:01

No change for me but then I don’t socialise in groups that size anyway

AnTeallach · 10/09/2020 18:04

I haven't RTFT but thankfully I can now meet my DS next week (lives in London, I'm in Scotland) and stay with a friend on the south coast, so 3 households. Lucky this is in England, as next week in Scotland, a maximum of 6 people from 2 households are allowed to meet. As other pps have mentioned, it seems strange at a time of rising cases, that England is now allowing the 6 people who get together to come from multiple households. Wonder if this is related to students going back to university?

Harls1969 · 10/09/2020 18:05

No because I'm not a fan of group gatherings so it's in my favour 😂.

Betty1119 · 10/09/2020 18:07

Stopped listening to the government - and caring months ago!
Will carry on as we are because it's been a complete over reaction from the start!

Cockadoodledooo · 10/09/2020 18:09

Nope.

I don't know how to only do a bit of the quote! But yy to related to going back to university - rates coincidentally up after non-socially distant exam result celebrations as well.
FortniteBoysMum · 10/09/2020 18:12

Nope bloody sick of it now. The death rate is so low let us go back to normal. If it starts to rise rapidly fine but as it is now sod off. More people will die today from a car accident. They don't tell you not to drive.

tizzero · 10/09/2020 18:25

The absolute selfishness on this thread. This country literally disgusts me sometimes.
