How many tests /isolations do you think you will need by half term?

In April dd2 had a temp by the saturday after half term

By Apr we would have had about 5 tests as a family

In 2019 sept to dec
We would again have had at least 5.

Also people tend not to get symtoms on the same day so for eg in dec dd2 got a temp mon then by thurs i had a fever then dd2 a cough. So even if dd2 tested neg so could have gone back by thurs then i would have to get tested and us all be back isolating. And potentially 4 trips to testing centres
The gov will run out of tests and bubbles will continue.

@UselessTrees

I'm fretting a bit about this today. No car, so if DC get symptoms they will be off for at least a week at a time while waiting for test kits/results. We might get stuck in an endless loop of isolation.
Schools gave been sent ten tests - use one if theirs to save some time.

I will add this after my experience today which I'm really cross about, had the test yesterday morning , long story short felt horrendously guilty about ds1 missing the first day of school (there is a massive massive backstory as to why this is an issue for ds1) , anyway man on phone suggests we check the test has been registered ....well there we go turns out the test hadn't been registered.

What I believe happens is the test is recorded against the barcode , but in the testing site they have to record a name with the barcode in order to get your results

Well mine (actually ds2) wasn't recorded. So I was never going to get it yesterday. The guy on the phone mentioned that this had happened a lot lately first when the schools went back in Scotland and now. Lots of comments about how hard everyone in the system was working. As soon as he registered my test number again....my results came through.

I'm so angry , it was clear that they complete the tests and register against a barcode. So ds2 test had been done and completed. However because someone hadn't allocated the barcode to a person (I had booked online etc everything done the way it should be) then ds1 missed his first day of school.

A one off I could forgive but it was patently clear from the person I spoke to this was quite common. He told me about one person who had waited a week for results and the same had happened so he allocated the barcode (on the test receipt card you are given at the testing site ) to the right contact . The person got their results as they were on the phone to them.

Don't wait (and I am usually the queen of being considerate to services) hase it up , check it has been registered
