Try again with a source that isn't social media. Facebook is the embodiment of fake news and people are taught to not take anything on there seriously.

- Children as infection drivers.
MadameBlobby · 28/08/2020 18:09

Jesus how much more of this is there going to be? Kids spread infectious virus, hold the front page.

TDGH1245ANON · 28/08/2020 18:09

"But children had roughly three times as many chances to become infected when schools were open, effectively canceling the difference."

Sorry, quote for the above should be : "While very few significant outbreaks of COVID-19 in schools have been documented, they do occur, and may be difficult to detect due to the relative lack of symptoms in children."

well keep your children away from school.

I'll send mine in.

I will however be sensible and try and ensure we don't ever transmit the virus.

I owe it to my children to ensure they are not thrown under the bus.

TDGH1245ANON · 28/08/2020 18:19

Please make them wear masks in lessons so I don't die or my colleagues.

Timeforanotherusername · 28/08/2020 18:21

No I won't.

They are too young and it would be cruel.

BillywilliamV · 28/08/2020 18:21

I hope you’re not a Science Teacher!
You’re not going to die, stop being over dramatic and look at the bloody stats!

TDGH1245ANON · 28/08/2020 18:22

@Timeforanotherusername should have added a bit of detail to my request haha sorry, assuming they are over 12 like the WHO recommends.

In a "youth-centric overnight setting" did you read this OP?

Of course children spread viruses, they have since the beginning of time. I have no idea why people believe the government when they say that children don’t drive transmission.

The upcoming months are going to be a total shit show regarding education, parents will blame teachers when we should all be blaming the government for not preparing decent remote education for when schools are closing all over the country during the winter. They have had since May/June to prepare for some sort of plan B.

I feel very sorry for teachers when they are on the receiving end of some parents wrath in the weeks to come and even more sorry when they are unwell with Covid.

Education for the rest of 2020 and spring term 2021 will be severely disrupted. Shouting for schools to be open as normal, get them all back in won’t work.

We’ve been back since 12th August. I feel perfectly safe at school and the children are loving being back. 75,000 children have been tested in Scotland and only 45 came back positive. Stop being overly dramatic FFS!
Summersnearlyover · 28/08/2020 18:39

@RoseCider that’s kind of the whole point, kids carry and transmit but most don’t show symptoms, if they don’t show symptoms then they wouldn’t be tested.

onedayinthefuture · 28/08/2020 18:43

But children don't drive cars yet adults do and adults can run children over and kill them. Adults also do unspeakable things to children and cause them pain and suffering, children don't.

Summersnearlyover · 28/08/2020 18:46

@onedayinthefuture what??

Eskarina1 · 28/08/2020 18:46

I think the risk isn't to individual pupils or teachers. It's the risk of wider spreading again.

I'd like to see us balancing the risk. It's really important for schools to reopen. Is it that vital for pubs to reopen? I tried it at the weekend and left pretty quickly. No social distancing at all. A nursery near me has an outbreak because several members of staff went on a clubbing holiday.

StatisticalSense · 28/08/2020 18:49

@Summersnearlyover
If that's your comprehension level please send your children back so they have a chance at becoming functioning members of society. That post clearly stated 75,000 children have been tested so to come back with a post about children not being tested was simply nonsensical.
