I think Scottish schools have been back since 12th ish August....

Half of Scotland should be dying by now based on some of the hysterical Facebook posts...

Summersnearlyover · 28/08/2020 19:00

@StatisticalSense sorry I did post without reading how many kids had been tested. Apologies!
My child won’t be going back yet, he has Down Syndrome and a heart condition.

MadameBlobby · 28/08/2020 19:01

@TDGH1245ANON

Please make them wear masks in lessons so I don't die or my colleagues.
My child has sensory issues and ASD and won’t be able to learn with a mask on. So, no.
MadameBlobby · 28/08/2020 19:03

Also get a grip. The chances of either you, let alone your colleagues as well, dying of this off of a child in your class is very small. You probably present more danger to our children.
@onedayinthefuture what??
Just because a lot of people on mumsnet now see kids as killers.... it's really not the case.

I've been wearing a face shield this week, not as good as a mask but unlike a mask it bearable to wear for 8 hours a day and isn't a barrier to communication. It certainly stops the bigger droplets, why are these not being encouraged in school?

Because they don't work on their own! I wear a mask for much of the day and HATE it, but I'm not going to kid myself that visors do anything.

Qasd · 28/08/2020 19:36

My dd school has said staff can wear visors in class (masks in the communist areas for all). I don’t know how common it is (or indeed if it actually does anything!) but certainly some schools are looking into it.

RoseAndRose · 28/08/2020 19:44

Why? It's going to protect neither the wearer nor anyone ekse, unless so close they think splatter on faces is a hazard.

StatisticalSense · 28/08/2020 21:10

@Qasd
If the school has actual communist areas it's probably alone in that regard let alone anything else...

dementedpixie · 28/08/2020 21:14

Schools in Scotland will require masks in communal areas/corridors from Monday 31st. Not required in classrooms (yet)! Trying to find a decent mask for dd as she wears glasses and dont want her stumbling about half blind

Is that science, or "The Science"?
