How many people do you know who have Covid symptoms right now and where are you?

I'm in S London, I am pretty sure I've had it but tests were not readily available when I had my symptoms in March. DH and DC didn't have symptoms so no idea if asymptomatic. Quite a lot of colleagues had it, nearly everyone had symptoms before schools closed in March (I work in a school). At the beginning of lockdown we were delivering food etc to families who were isolating, but we stopped needing to do that by about the end of April. I don't know if anyone in my school community or in my own circle who has had symptoms for a good few months. I'm guessing it's different in different areas and I was wondering what other peoples experiences are?

None. Living (just) in a lockdown area. Know 1 person who had it, plus a few friends of friends, but that was back in April. No one now for months.

funnyonion1 · 15/08/2020 21:58

None. Central London.

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 15/08/2020 21:58

Through work, I have also known many people who died of flu - most very frail, but the odd person who just dies out of the blue. I knew a few who died of swine flu (I took that vaccine as soon as it came out).

This summer, most of my work has involved deaths from cancer, dementia and old age. I haven't seen a covid death since May, but in April it was truly awful - death after death for a few weeks.

HairyToity · 15/08/2020 22:02

I don't know anyone with symptoms right now. We live in North Wales.

sausagepastapot · 15/08/2020 22:05

None. South East.

Jenasaurus · 15/08/2020 22:10

No one at the moment, but I know of one colleague (NHS) who sadly died on his 52nd birthday in May. (surrey)

Kenworthington · 15/08/2020 22:11

None
In Devon
I don’t know anyone who’s had it at all

Maidofdishonour · 15/08/2020 22:16

Rural Cambridgeshire. Four people at work (one in icu for two weeks), my neighbour and three friends in the village.

DeathMetalMum · 15/08/2020 22:22

I personally dont know of anyone who has had a confirmed positive test.

Dd and I had it Feb/March we think. We had a number of symptoms but at the time only people who had travelled (to China when I was ill and Italy was added by the time dd was poorly) needed to isolate.

ARudeTerriblePerson · 15/08/2020 22:22

@Egghead68 surprised you know 21 people who have it now, in London?

We're in London and have known nobody at all.

Aurorie11 · 15/08/2020 22:29

None currently but my DM and a friend of my DF died in April
Another two family friends were hospitalised, just avoided incubation
One friend and at least 5 colleagues had it.
Plus friends of friends had it including several deaths

OhTheRoses · 15/08/2020 22:31

Surrey
I know two people who had positive tests - One was quite ill; one not. One who lost taste and smell before it was recognised in late Feb!

I know of someone who had a +ve test in April and recovered. He had stage 4 cancer and was having palliative care. He died in June and was included in the figs. Now removed.

LadyofTheManners · 15/08/2020 22:32

In Reading
Currently: zero
Previous: 3 mates have had positive antibody tests, all ill way way before the official first UK case. In fact, for where in Reading I live we've had very few official cases during the time it took for it to be reported (so late January), and overall 3 deaths. Our cases this week in the whole of East Reading have been 4, no hospital patients in now either and haven't had a death for weeks and weeks.

onlinelinda · 15/08/2020 22:34

I know about 6 people who had it when I did, in 3 households. I may have been the spreader, just pre lockdown.

sunandrose · 15/08/2020 22:50

None. 2 people in care homes who got it over the Easter weekend and sadly died though.

I’m in SW...

Campervan69 · 15/08/2020 22:52

I’m in the North West. Currently on local lockdown but in an area where cases aren’t actually high. I know of no one with symptoms at the moment. But lots of people who had it at the beginning several of them were hospitalised. The men seemed to get it much worse than the women and the children were asymptomatic if they indeed had it at all.

Barbadosgirl · 15/08/2020 23:04

North London. Know no one with symptoms right now. Know two people who tested positive this whole time. Know one family who think they had it.

LynetteScavo · 15/08/2020 23:07

I don't know anyone atm with symptoms.

I know three people who had confirmed cases during lockdown (one on a ventilator). Two people at work were poorly with dry coughs that lasted weeks, both starting in February, but obviously didn't get tested and initially didn't possibly think it was Covid. Looking back it could have been. And one person who died with Covid but was very elderly and would have died anyway. The only reason they knew they had it was because they were tested when going into hospital for something else.

JayDot500 · 15/08/2020 23:16

None right now, but I've realised that people aren't very good at sharing this info!

Mum had it in March, 3 weeks bed bound with it and she's still having issues. She wasn't tested but works for a major London hospital. Antibody test offered to her was positive.
BIL and DNephew likely had it but weren't tested.
I'm from a black community, I do know a few older people who have died from it. Most were men and aged 60+.

DaphneFanshaw · 15/08/2020 23:25

Like you Op, I’m pretty sure I’ve had it back in March when tests weren’t so easily available.
I know of quite a few people who have had suspected Covid and a couple who had it confirmed when they were seriously ill in hospital. My Aunt also died from it.
That all happened in March and April though and I’ve not heard of any cases since.
I live near an area of intervention too.

Kahlua4me · 15/08/2020 23:27

I live near Reading and the only people I personally know who have had it are two doctors and their families. Strangely though the doctors have got antibodies but their wives haven’t.

One friend had exactly the same symptoms though and was off work for a few weeks but that was in November last year so no testing.

Littleposh · 15/08/2020 23:29

I'm in an area with extra restrictions and I know of none here. I do know of one in the north east though

Egghead68 · 15/08/2020 23:57

@ARudeTerriblePerson I work in the NHS.

ARudeTerriblePerson · 16/08/2020 00:01

That's still quite a high number?

winetime89 · 16/08/2020 00:08

I know someone who has symptoms / Yorkshire. They are due on holiday in a couple of days too.
