Anyone else not bought school uniform etc yet?

I want my two to go back. They need it, (both have SEN and don’t work well at home), I need it (to work).

But I just can’t see how it’s going to be in anyway sustainable and that worries me.

And I am half expecting more changes before 4th September. Number seem to be creeping back up. I think I won’t actually believe they are really going back until a few days before.

They need new shoes, trousers etc and I’ve not bought anything yet when normally I would have started picking bits up.

Anyone else?

I've ordered a few bits but I never get shoes until the last minute anyway in case DS has a sudden growth spurt!

Schools will be going back, I don't think for a second that they won't. Cases have increased but deaths and hospital admissions haven't so I think that's what the focus will be on.

I've ordered mine this week. Lots of things in DS size was out of stock. Had to use different shops to get everything.

I’ve got mine, including shoes, but even if it never gets worn I’m relaxed about “wasting” £20 worth of supermarket primary uniform which would keep for the second one anyway. Realistically I expect them to need it although it might not get quite as much wear as usual. They wear their “school” black trainers year round anyway so no waste there. If they were secondary with expensive stuff I’d be waiting.

I’ve bought it. They’ll go back, so will need of, but I’m expecting widespread closures. Just being realistic.

DS is in secondary, his uniformed needs to have the school logo so trousers are £28 each. Thankfully I’ve picked up three in his size for £9 - he’s gone from wearing age 12 in March to fitting nicely in age 14 as he’s grown so much. I’ll buy shoes last minute in case he grows more!

Our school has no clue how lunch times and school transport are planned as yet...
How a bubble of 300 will work...
As advised will by a teacher in face to face a few weeks ago.
I have 3 at the same school. Bubble of 900 then?
My head hurts...

We are just doing shoes this week got everything else already but I have one going upto secondary and one moving into primary so no choice really. They better go back Grin

I usually get uniform at the school's 2nd hand shop but obviously not been able to do that this year. I always send my DD back in summer uniform and summer shoes and sort the winter uniform/shoes in October. Due to the school shop not being open since March I've not bought any new summer uniform either but I checked yesterday and she has 3 dresses that will fit. I've bought socks and her summer trainers will hopefully be ok for P.E. So I just need to get plimsolls and hairbands (think she eats them!!).

I am wondering what to do about shoes, as in measuring of feet. I looked at where we usually go and they say they aren't offering measuring.
I've bought a startrite measure and will have to buy a few pairs when I measure DD. We tried the paper print out method and it didn't work so well.

Should add, usually use an indie shop. Wide feet, discerning 5 year old.

I haven’t, partly because DD still fits into her uniform from last year, partly because it involves booking an appointment at the uniform shop and partly because I’m not sure how it’s all going to play out
We’ve got shoes, because they’ll do for general wear anyhow (and I had a voucher to use at M&S so they cost £3)

Luckily my daughter hasn't grown since she was 12 so other than replacing shoes and socks as they get worn out she's had the same uniform for the last three years. Her school managed to get reception up to Y8 back full time before summer and they have sent us a letter about all the measures in place for September so I'm confident she's going back.

I haven't bought anything yet. After 5 years I've come to the conclusion that I'll just buy as & when they need it through the year. when sainsburys have 25% off
Planning a trying on session on Sunday just to check shoes but they are relatively new so should be OK.

I fully expect schools to be back in September I've got all the uniforms just the shoes to go, need to build myself up for that adventure!

8 students at secondary in glasgow positive. But luckily before going back to school.

I got 8yo shoe size wrong. Thought she'd grown out of them but guessed too high. Now have a clarkes gauge.
School said joggers but i'll buy some proper trousers anyway as mine only just changed ages so would need them at some point this year anyway.

Are Clark’s not fitting school shoes then? I don’t want to pay £40 for a pair of shoes where I’ve had to guess the size.

Clarks are still doing fittings-we bought ours today.

Clark’s are doing fittings. You can book an appointment or turn up and wait. We booked for yesterday all fine. They are also doing a “guarantee” that if you buy school shoes now they guarantee they’ll fit until 28th Feb 2021 (if child is 7.5-9.5 size until Nov) and they’ll exchange them for a bigger pair.

In Scotland, my DD's high school has said no ties or blazers and to come in PE stuff on days they have PE as there will be no changing facilities. We only we're told of this at the end of last week and the school went back yesterday.

Clarks measure, I've got an appointment booked but I'm going o cancel. I'm getting my son some black trainers instead so if they don't return or close he can wear them as everyday shoes
