Anyone else not bought school uniform etc yet?

I want my two to go back. They need it, (both have SEN and don’t work well at home), I need it (to work).

But I just can’t see how it’s going to be in anyway sustainable and that worries me.

And I am half expecting more changes before 4th September. Number seem to be creeping back up. I think I won’t actually believe they are really going back until a few days before.

They need new shoes, trousers etc and I’ve not bought anything yet when normally I would have started picking bits up.

Anyone else?

Just ordered shoes, a few new polos/trousers/jumpers in bigger sizes as mine have shot up over the summer and feet are 2 sizes bigger. Just got a couple of everything and will buy more if all goes well but we’ve got enough for first few weeks back. Both mine have v wide feet and lots of the styles of shoe were sold out, I looked a few weeks ago and they were all in stock so when I saw how much stuff had already sold out I thought it best to buy now.

Not shoes yet. I might go with cheap ones to start with. I wasted a lot on decent school shoes this year!!

Have an appointment for fitting on Wednesday for school uniform.

My main problem is DS feet one's 5 1/2 and the other is 6 1/2 not sure what to do for shoes, trainers and football boots on that.

Yeah I’ve got all mine. No need for shoes as mine both needed new ones when they went back at the beginning of June so I bought some then. Ours are in full uniform and normal PE kit etc so just bought what I usually buy.
Just need to send DH to the supermarket to get some white socks at some point.

I bought school shoes for all 3 of mine since feet have grown.

Only bought new uniform for the youngest as she's moving up to secondary school, but only bought her 1 blazer, 1 skirt, 1 PE top, and a few shirts. Her existing school trousers still fit and will remain acceptable in the move up.

My older two are still in secondary and can wear what they have for the foreseeable, luckily.

I ordered school shoes yesterday. I have everything else. I made sure I got them at a reduced price as I don’t think they’ll be on his feet for any length of time 🤦🏻‍♀️

I I haven’t but I always lea d it until the week before they go back. DDs secondary uniform costs a fortune and she only wore it half the year so she doesn’t need anything new as it still fits. DS in primary needs polos and trousers but that will be a trip to asda next week I m not paying out for logo jumpers as last years will be fine and it’s his last year. Both need shoes but I ll go the last week of the holidays for them. I think they will go back but I also think we ll be back home schooling before half term. Hopefully not but this is what I am mentally prepared for.

Uniform all in now. I bought shoes the day before Mask Day. They tend to get a good 6 months out of a pair so it shouldn't matter that I bought them a month earlier than usual.
I had to wait for M&S to restock on the right cut of polo shirts.

There may be some disruption over the winter, but after not having set foot in school since 20th March, they need to be back in, and I think that they will be in for the vast majority of the school year.

This year was a big stock up as fortunately last year was the year that they managed to tide some things over. This year a lot is clearly out grown and they've even gone above the threshold on sock size.

Yes. He went back for 3 weeks before the summer and his shorts were too small so I have.
I think it will be a tricky winter but I think he’ll be in most of the time. I am a dentist and will have to work so if necessary he’ll have to go in under key worker provision.

No. I’m dithering. I usually order polos / jumpers with the school badge on which are ridiculous more expensive. I’m not convinced they will get worn as much as they usually would. I may instead buy some non branded ones.

Can’t go to the school wear shop as it’s online orders only.

I really can’t decide which is making me feel a bit frozen.

May order a couple of branded and a couple of non branded as a compromise.

Getting them tomorrow or Saturday. Secondary jumpers, blouses and skirts. Got everything else, or recycling last year's stuff (I always buy two sizes too high because it's about £30 an item). New shoes bought too. Schoo, gas told us how they will be handling the bubbles etc but tbh my child has been mixing with all her mates from different classes since the lockdown restrictions lifted so I see little point of it all.

I've got all of mine... They will be going back to school and if not initially they won't be off all year so I can't stand the thought of being unprepared. Also when ordering trousers and shirts via Asda I struggled to get sizes so glad I did do it

@StormyInTheNorth

I am wondering what to do about shoes, as in measuring of feet. I looked at where we usually go and they say they aren't offering measuring.
I've bought a startrite measure and will have to buy a few pairs when I measure DD. We tried the paper print out method and it didn't work so well.

Clarks measure, I've got an appointment booked but I'm going o cancel. I'm getting my son some black trainers instead so if they don't return or close he can wear them as everyday shoes

In Scotland, my DD's high school has said no ties or blazers and to come in PE stuff on days they have PE as there will be no changing facilities. We only we're told of this at the end of last week and the school went back yesterday.

Clark’s are doing fittings. You can book an appointment or turn up and wait. We booked for yesterday all fine. They are also doing a “guarantee” that if you buy school shoes now they guarantee they’ll fit until 28th Feb 2021 (if child is 7.5-9.5 size until Nov) and they’ll exchange them for a bigger pair.

@Lemons1571

Are Clark’s not fitting school shoes then? I don’t want to pay £40 for a pair of shoes where I’ve had to guess the size.

Clarks are still doing fittings-we bought ours today.

8 students at secondary in glasgow positive. But luckily before going back to school.

I got 8yo shoe size wrong. Thought she'd grown out of them but guessed too high. Now have a clarkes gauge.
School said joggers but i'll buy some proper trousers anyway as mine only just changed ages so would need them at some point this year anyway.
