Anyone else randomly selected for a Covid test?

Just received my random test which I will do in a bit (when I’ve got the courage to stick things up my nose/throat).
Anyone else received theirs?
I think mine must’ve got rushed through as my town is on the list for possible lockdown.

DD12 did her test on herself today. A big achievement as she is ADHD and ASD and generally is very anti anything medical.

I got a text at 7am saying it would be collected between 8am -12pm. The courier arrived just after 9am.

It was all very straightforward and efficient. DD is proud of herself (quite rightly) for doing her bit to help.

Actually, MyMagicStars, I don’t think they are doing surprise ones. People have been invited to take part by letter and if they chose to take part can confirm addresses/timings. etc.

Well done to Lindy2’s dd! My asd ds agreed to the test and did better than me at following the instructions...

Lindy2 · 27/07/2020 15:21

OneEpisode well done too to your DS. Smile

OneEpisode · 27/07/2020 15:27

I think it was more that I was bad! Blush

@Lindy2 well done to your dd! My girls are similar and say that she should be super proud.
Not sure how DD4 can open the package, the uni is 90 minutes away and post is only being dispatched to university halls... will investigate tomorrow!

Well I woke up early this morning, after some gagging and wretching I did the test. As everyone has said, courier came and picked it up. Just have to wait now...

Well done to everyone who has managed to do the test, it isn’t the most pleasant of tests to carry out 👍🏼

Has anyone got the results back from the random testing yet?

DD's was collected Monday morning but I've not had the results yet. I'm assuming the random tests are done at a slower pace than the tests for people with symptoms. The test I had recently after I reported a sore throat on the Zoe Covid symptom tracker was back within 12 hours.

Our family members took a whole week for the random test. Same day for the “real” one a few weeks later.

Lindy2 · 30/07/2020 15:17

OneEpisode Thanks. I thought that might be the case. The symptomatic ones obviously need to take priority.

Cockadoodledooo · 30/07/2020 19:41

Mine was collected by courier on early Friday afternoon and I got the result late Sunday evening, so just over 48 hours. That was a random one.

My antibody result took almost 3 weeks.

My test was collected on Monday. Tbh, I think they’re more inclined to tell you if it’s a positive test Covid test, than a negative one. No news is good news as they say!

I got an email with DD's results this morning. Negative as expected (thank goodness). The email thanked her for taking part in this very important research.

Longdistance · 31/07/2020 17:15

Same as @Lindy2 negative result.

Congratulations on your negative status (albeit at some past date!) Thanks for taking part. I think you deserve an extra Biscuit before bed..
