How confident are you that you would ‘beat’ coronavirus if you got it?

And if you are not confident...what steps have you taken in the last 4 months to strengthen your immune system?

Jrobhatch29 · 22/07/2020 18:35

I am taking vitamins as are my family. Walking miles everyday and getting fresh air. Exercise when I can. Eating well - plenty fruit and veg and cut out salt. However I can't give up chocolate!! Not much else we can do!

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 22/07/2020 18:40

Not at all. Im morbidly obese with asthma and ME.

Sunshinegirl82 · 22/07/2020 18:44

99.99%

BlusteryLake · 22/07/2020 18:46

I don't feel particularly concerned about getting it. I am relatively young, have no health issues at all and come from a long line of family who rarely get ill. I am very unlikely to suffer major consequences.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 22/07/2020 18:49

I'm not at all. It's why I'm extremely worried about having to go back into teaching in September with 150 different kids through my (small) classroom every day.

Because of various health issues I feel my chances of surviving Coronavirus are poor. And I don't want to have to risk my life for a job.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/07/2020 18:51

95%+. I have a few risk factors - but I’ve had three friends have it with MAJOR risk factors (including one on the transport list), and all managed it at home themselves. Miserable two weeks, but safely through the other side.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/07/2020 18:51

Transplant list...

TinyMetalBirds · 22/07/2020 18:51

Also 99.99 per cent.

WreckTangled · 22/07/2020 18:52

Pretty confident I would be OK. Early 30's, white, female, healthy BMI, well controlled type one diabetes. I haven't done anything special to strengthen my immune system and have been working throughout (NHS clinical but office based). The only thing is if I was to get ill enough to require hospitalisation then I would be high risk due to the poor care of type one diabetics in hospital.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 22/07/2020 18:52

Pretty certain I'd recover OK, I have a strong immune system and have upped the vitamins I take as well as started exercising regularly since lockdown began. My parents are rarely, if ever, ill and I'm the same.

Realitea · 22/07/2020 18:52

I’m not sure, I’ve had some nasty illnesses before such as whooping cough which was horrific. I’m obese according to the doctor, which I was pretty upset to hear - I thought I was just a bit chubby! I worry more for my dh and daughter being BAME.
I’m a cleaner so I’m sure I’ll get it at some point

Fatted · 22/07/2020 18:53

I know two very seriously, terminally ill be people who have both had Covid and survived. I will take my chances.

Tinamou · 22/07/2020 18:53

I'm very confident I'd be fine. Under 50 and no health issues. BMI in the overweight category.

QueenCT · 22/07/2020 18:56

Not confident due to immune system. And I can't strengthen it so..

I get a little annoyed when people post stuff about eat lots of fruit and veg and some dirt is good for the immune system etc etc etc. Some of us are stuck with our shite immune system

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/07/2020 18:57

Very confident. I'm 29, white, female, no underlying health conditions, rarely get ill in general, immune system seems brilliant.

The only 2 things that might go against me are that I'm slightly overweight (by about a stone - I am currently trying to lose weight) and I'm blood group A which I can't do anything about. However they're very minor concerns and I'm not worried.

itsgettingweird · 22/07/2020 18:57

If I got it again- not as much. I'm worried a second dose would be worse than first and that left me struggling for breath.

(Disclaimer - I wasn't tested but was what is now described as classic case since the decided it wasn't just a cough and temp. I was unwell for 6 weeks in total)

What am I doing? All the right hygeine stuff.

catsandlavender · 22/07/2020 18:57

Fairly confident.. I’m 26, white, female, healthy BMI, no health conditions that I know of. Still really wouldn’t want to get it and you never know.

FrustratedMess · 22/07/2020 18:58

I would die :(

Steps iv taken.... Not been anywhere since the beginning of March, more thsn a week before the government told us to lockdown

EboracumNovum · 22/07/2020 18:59

Overweight, underactive thyroid, asthmatic mid forties with 2 previous bouts of whooping cough and a collapsed lung in my medical history.

Touch wood I don't catch a lot of cold etc so hopefully that a good omen. I'm doing everything I can to avoid catching it in the first place...I shop online as much as possible and although I've had to go back to work (school support staff) I dont otherwise go out at all.

I keep sanitizer and wipes in my bag and car, am making sure to take my meds and now supplements as well. The asthma clinic have been in touch since lockdown started and put me on additional meds.

Diet and exercise programme starts next week - between working F/t and some difficult circs I haven't had it in me to tackle that so far. Am doing a walking challenge to raise money for Refuge throughout August and switching to low carb diet and cutting back on dairy and booze.

FrustratedMess · 22/07/2020 18:59

A cold puts me in hospital....
So..... ☠️

ChaoticCatling · 22/07/2020 19:01

99.99%. Pretty sure I had it in March/April because I lost my sense of smell for two weeks, plus other odd symptoms. Could've worked the whole time if I hadn't had to quarantine.

I'm female, mid 30s, fairly fit and active, low normal BMI, no health conditions, never normally ill. I eat heaps of fruit and vegetables and very few processed foods, only have the occasional half pint of cider, and try to get enough sleep.

jerometheturnipking · 22/07/2020 19:01

Very confident. No risk factors at all and DH’s only risk factor is that he’s male. We generally don’t get ill anyway, and that’s with young DC in the house.

FrugiFan · 22/07/2020 19:03

Pretty confident. I'm under 30 and have mild asthma. No longer overweight and have been taking vitamin D.
Even people in their 80s have an 85% chance of survival so all the people convinced they'll definitely die if they get it are quite likely to be wrong, thankfully.

frustrationcentral · 22/07/2020 19:03

TBH I don't know. I don't know anyone who's had it to be able to see how bad it really is ( yes I can see the stats). I'm under 40, mild asthma but with a high BMI, so I just don't know how I'd fare..

thecatneuterer · 22/07/2020 19:03

I was confident I would be fine because of, well, statistics. Then I got it and yes, I was basically fine.
