Is anyone else feeling very paranoid?

That there’s something more going on?
I’m not normally into conspiracy theories and I’m not about to start now. But I’m feeling on edge like never before.
From what I can see, this virus has a high survival rate, around 99% and the mortality rate is likely much lower than estimates suggest due to the fact that many cases are asymptomatic or mild and haven’t even been picked up on in testing.
The majority of deaths are in the over 65s.
I’m just feeling extremely paranoid at the moment. I’m worried I’m going crazy! As no one else seems to be questioning things. Anyone else?

Oh for goodness sake, lockdown was not an overreaction. If we hadn't locked down the virus would still be rampant, hospitals would be overwhelmed and the economy would be fucked because nobody would want to eat out, shop etc for fear of getting it. Yes most people would be ok. But there are a hell of a lot of over 60s in this country. And it makes just enough well people really ill to scare most into changing their behaviour.

I know life is not back to normal now but we're not exactly locked down anymore are we? We can go to pubs, restaurants, shops. Get on buses, trains and aeroplanes. Yes there are some differences but if we don't take some measures we'll end back where we were because: exponential growth.

Beats me why those who moan loudest about lockdown seem determined to behave in ways that are most likely to make another one necessary Confused

@TheMurk

Nonsense. A dish cloth mask was shown in various studies to be 50-60% effective. Better than nothing. Agree about the masks worn hanging down only covering the mouth but not the nose etc, but that's the fault of human stupidity, not masks.

Politicians around the world are realising that they panicked and set everything on fire when there was no need to

How was there no need? In this country we had 60k more deaths than usual during those peak months. Other countries have experienced thousands of excess deaths. Thousands more have spent days/weeks/months in hospital in intensive care. Whilst I understand the flu and other common diseases kill otherwise healthy people all the time, covid has been indiscriminate and is hitting healthy people in big numbers. What do you think would have happened to supply chains, essential services, staffing of utility companies etc. etc. if we had just ignored it? And please don't give me the 'hospitals weren't overwhelmed' argument...they weren't overwhelmed because everything else was shut down and we worked hard at not increasing community transmission.

Nope not anymore. If I get it then so be it. Sounds harsh but I work in a supermarket and deal with hundreds of people every week. I do my best eg washing hands etc but its.not full proof. Not much I can do really

I think the worrying thing is, however bad or not so bad this turns out to be in the final reckoning, that people will think the reaction to the next viral pandemic will be cry wolf iyswim.

Hoping I’ll be dead by then!

FizzFan · 09/07/2020 00:27

Totally agree @sickandtired87. Doublethink
