Oh that is sad. I've been following his wife on Instagram. He was only 41

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 06/07/2020 05:24

Gosh. I dont know who he is but I clicked as Im 41. He looks so fit and healthy in his photo. How horrible.

Jrobhatch29 · 06/07/2020 05:26

He was starring in waitress just last may when i was in new york. So sad x

WhenCoronaWasALager · 06/07/2020 05:28

So sad. I knew he was having an amputation and assumed he'd be OK.

FruitTingleFrizzante · 06/07/2020 05:51

That's so very sad. He put up a hell of a fight.

ArriettyJones · 06/07/2020 06:20

Poor guy. He’s had an awful lot of medical intervention, including the amputation. I hope he’s truly at peace now.

kateandme · 06/07/2020 06:28

ive been following too.he fought so hard.it struck him down with som, ething new to fight at every turn!this is a sure lesson.

walksen · 06/07/2020 06:29

Awful news. Very young and healthy looking. Cases like this are quite scary to hear.

jessstan2 · 06/07/2020 07:00

Poor soul, nobody would have expected him to die at 41. I must admit I've never heard of him but that doesn't matter, it's sad.

Inspirationpending · 06/07/2020 07:09

I’ve been following his story too. Heartbreaking.

Redolent · 06/07/2020 07:32

Cordero entered the emergency room on 30 March and had a succession of health setbacks including mini-strokes, blood clots, sepsis infections, a tracheostomy and a temporary pacemaker implant. He had been on a ventilator and unconscious and had his right leg amputated. A double lung transplant was being explored.

What a tragic struggle this was :( RIP.

Desperately sad. His wife is remortgaging the house to pay medical costs which I assume will be horrendously high. Wasn’t there something though that Covid patients don’t have to pay? Seems so unfair that she loses her husband, has a big bill, might end up losing her home.

There was a GoFund me seeking to raise $600,000 to cover his medical costs. Hopefully she’ll get the support she needs.
ArriettyJones · 06/07/2020 07:41

There was a crowdfunder a month or so ago that was generously supported.

I think her recent comments about refinancing the house were with an eye to ongoing, long term medical care. (She was also saying that he needed a double lung transplant that he wasn’t remotely well enough for yet, so she was thinking ahead.)

So, hopefully, she isn’t actually in financial difficulties now, on top of the bereavement.

ArriettyJones · 06/07/2020 07:42

X post.

JacobReesMogadishu · 06/07/2020 07:46

I can’t imagine 600,000 will cover anywhere near the bill. It’ll be millions? Although maybe insurance will pay most?

ImaginaryCat · 06/07/2020 07:57

I saw that about the costs and it makes me so angry to think of Americans hiding at home, ignoring their Covid symptoms, because they're terrified of incurring those kind of debts for their loved ones. It's just inhumane. And now a bereaved widow having to crowd fund $600k to cover the cost of trying to to save her husband's life. I really feel for her; this must be a devastating time.

ArriettyJones · 06/07/2020 07:58

Hopefully, insurance, fundraising and the COVID fee waiver together will cover it? I can’t imagine the acting fraternity letting his widow struggle in any case, especially not with such a small baby.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 06/07/2020 08:05

How tragically sad. Far too young. I dont know about medical bills since covid care should be covered. I see that he is listed as being a Canadian, I wonder if that plays a part in it. Maybe the free covid care in America is only for American citizens.

Hollyhobbi · 06/07/2020 08:14

This is why it makes me mad that people are still saying its just a flu or its only old people that are dying. It also seems to add weight to the fact that Covid is a vascular disease. Poor man, may he rest in peace. And he left behind a baby as well who won't even remember him. Desperately sad.

Fuzzywuzzyface · 06/07/2020 08:21

I'm sure I read somewhere that kate garraway had been pointed towards the story as he appeared to be turning a corner to give her some positivity. If that was the case she must be distraught that he has sadly passed away. As an aside Kate will be on GMB on Wednesday for an update on Derek as the media reports over the past couple of days are not quite right.

This is such a terrible illness and Amanda has tried to be so positive on her Instagram posts - hopefully little Elvis will help her :(

ferntwist · 06/07/2020 08:34

So sad. This is such a cruel illness. We seem to be discovering more complications all the time.

ArriettyJones · 06/07/2020 09:19

I was just reading about that. I think it’s the media are reporting the facts accurately enough (from her press releases) but they seem to have the tone wrong. They don’t seem to have fully understood that coma>minimal consciousness is a very small change, and not really cause for celebration.

TypingoftheDead · 06/07/2020 09:51

I’ve no idea who he was but this is so tragic, they look so happy in that photo. RIP, Nick.

InglouriousBasterd · 06/07/2020 10:03

This is so heartbreaking, I’ve followed Amanda through this and just hoped he would make it. He seemed such a kind man and doting father, so bloody cruel. I hope she’s ok financially - they just had their house built and were in the process of moving.
