People hammered at pubs several fights and a knife pulled , police everywhere, air ambulance all in my local town.....awful at the best of times

Sorry OP Sad if it makes you feel better, it's not like that everywhere - my town is as quiet as it's been throughout lockdown. Possibly quieter as everyone has been saying for days that they would stay home to avoid potential crowds.

Deblou43 · 04/07/2020 22:04

I would be pissed of even if covid not around just spoils for others in my smaller high street though pubs packed but all well behaved but in the bigger town no !

MissClementine · 04/07/2020 22:13

I just had a walk to our normally lively high street. A few pubs open but quiet and some restaurants open and busy others very quiet. All seemed calm but with some happy laughter.

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/07/2020 22:28

I’m sitting here in my living room in my central London flat, and was out for drinks with friends earlier. No rowdiness. No fighting. People seemed excited and happy to be seeing their friends and things feeling a bit more normal. Yeah, I can hear the air ambulance but I live next door to the Royal London Hospital and the helicopter taking off and landing has punctuated my lockdown, so that’s nothing new.

There are going to be idiots but they are simply more visible idiots: the same people who go to the pub today and get trashed and fight in the streets will have been doing exactly the same during lockdown, just in parks or at their mates’ houses.

PatriciaHolm · 04/07/2020 22:30

DP is in London Zone 2 and it's actually quieter than normal!

About half the pubs where I am haven't even opened.

Rosebel · 04/07/2020 22:45

Went to get a take away tonight, the take away is right by a pub. It was very busy but seemed fairly calm. When we left the take away there were 3 blokes fighting in car park though, all seemed really drunk.
Sad, yes but not especially shocking. I'm hoping as the pubs are open for longer people will calm down a bit.

MaxNormal · 04/07/2020 22:46

It'll calm down. It's just the cork popping this weekend.

Isotope456 · 04/07/2020 22:53

Not like that here at all, either locally or in the city centre. All very sedate, in fact reports that a few pubs have sent some staff home early as they weren't as busy as expected.

SquirmOfEels · 04/07/2020 23:00

Nearest pub didn't open

We didn't go out, so don't know how busy it was, or if it was rowdy or worse.

It's actually quieter here right now (touch wood) as no noisy partying neighbours as there was last weekend.

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/07/2020 23:08

A few of our local pubs didn't open today, but our road seems to be full of parties. Worked out there are at least three going on at the moment, lots of drunk people up and down the road.

Noise is exacerbated inside because we are currently having work on the house and essentially have no roof at the moment so the noise is just bouncing around the house.

People are just letting off steam, I imagine the novelty will wear off now particularly as people can meet in houses again and pubs are extortionate (even if we do want local businesses to thrive).

Beebumble2 · 04/07/2020 23:15

In a village on the edge of Leicester, one pub open, very quite.

Let’s hope it’s slightly better managed indoors...

Deblou43 · 04/07/2020 23:30

Thing is people were saying this about the protests and beach's - 2nd wave blah blah I mean I only see crowds outside and I think it is people letting off steam not surprised at any of this

OP posts:
MarcelineMissouri · 04/07/2020 23:32

Based on the after effects of VE Day, crowded beaches, BLM protests..... I think we can hopefully conclude that as long as social distancing is taking place inside we should be ok 🤞🏻

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/07/2020 00:16

They were queuing to get in the pubs round her and town was full of groups of men (DS commented on the uniform of very tight jeans or tracksuit bottoms with skinny t shirts). All men between 18-30 we decided by the looks of them.

Houseplantmad · 05/07/2020 00:25

Another in London here - all fairly quiet and civilised. Nice to see the lights back on in the pubs.

LeggyLinda · 05/07/2020 00:28

Had been busy around our way throughout the lockdown so was expecting close to carnage today/this evening.
As it turned out it has been the quietest it’s been for ages!
Sorry for OP having to put up with disturbances, but hopefully it is a rare one off case.

PuddleView · 05/07/2020 00:34

There is a rowdy fight going on in our local pub carpark and I live in a Heva So Posh village.

Silvergreen · 05/07/2020 00:53

All fine in my little leafy corner of SE London - everybody enjoying themselves cautiously,

Billyjoearmstrong · 05/07/2020 01:19

It’s all kicking off here in Shitsville which is why I’m still awake.

Groups of pissed idiots shouting and fighting; blue lights everywhere. Not that it’s been much different every Saturday night to be honest.

Not surprising we have the second highest death rate outside London.

IncrediblySadToo · 05/07/2020 06:18

I didn't go out & I don't live near enough to the main road in the village to see or hear the pubs (even though they're within easy walking distance) But my friend will let me know this morning if anything kicked off - she lives in the next village & loves nothing more than 'letting me know'If anything (bad) goes on here 🤣

maddiemookins16mum · 05/07/2020 06:56

It was pretty gloomy, grey and chilly all day here yesterday. Can you imagine the carnage had it been a lovely, warm summers evening?

Permanantlypuzzled · 05/07/2020 08:33

You’d like it here OP the village pub closed for good at the start of lockdown.

googledontknow · 05/07/2020 09:47

Walked past the village pub yesterday evening, very sedate, people sitting at the tables, no music, didn't look much fun to be honest.

DianaT1969 · 05/07/2020 10:20

Central London zone 2. Quiet all weekend here. My area is normally a hub for young people too. A few tables and beer barrels outside pubs and restaurants but everywhere was half empty around 9pm when I travelled home from work yesterday.
