Are you still WFH?

My office is still very much “only come in if you need to, don’t come in if vulnerable.” Probably until Christmas!

It’s caused a huge change, all permanent desks are going, replacing with hot desk hubs and lockers. Only expected to be in two days a week when this is over.

Yes, but our office is sitting waiting for us to return. I visited it yesterday for the first time since lockdown, to pick up some stuff and for a first face to face meeting.
I think we will work from home more even as things settle down more, but that has always been an option anyway - we just rarely did it.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/06/2020 14:28

Yep- no direct communication but they suspect people returning from September, I’ll be 7/8 months pregnant by then so not sure I’ll go back before maternity

Lovelydovey · 24/06/2020 14:28

Yes, banned from building until further notice.

Sexnotgender · 24/06/2020 14:29

Yes. Been told we’re likely to be at home for at least the rest of the year.

BikeRunSki · 24/06/2020 14:31

6-12 months out from now for us.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 24/06/2020 14:34

Yes and loving it so I want it to continue as long as possible Smile being given no indication when we will be office based again.

emummy · 24/06/2020 14:37

Yes; I do psychotherapy in GP practices. We are not expecting to be back before Christmas!

Youngatheart00 · 24/06/2020 14:38

Yes, and will be until at least the autumn. After that I get the impression it will be. A mix of WFH and the office. Get the sense that office will be for meetings and ‘work’ will be done at home. Property reductions likely.

heynori · 24/06/2020 14:39

I'm SAH but DH is WFH probably till the autumn.

TokyoSushi · 24/06/2020 14:44

Yes, we've given up our office so WFH forever. I used to WFH 2 days per week and it will be bliss, when the DC go back to school!

TheGreatWave · 24/06/2020 15:38

Office starting to slowly open in a couple of weeks, I'm not back for a couple of months yet though.

violetscone · 24/06/2020 16:03

Ours is the same as yours.

I misread hot desk hubs as hot tubs! (We don’t have those)

cologne4711 · 24/06/2020 16:04

My employer has said people can stay at home until Christmas but they are going to make office space available for those who want to go into the office. They did a survey and 80% want to stay at home and 20% are finding it difficult at home and want to go in.

Not so sure about DH but September/October at the earliest I think.

ComtesseDeSpair · 24/06/2020 16:29

The majority of us (non-ministerial civil service department) have been told to expect to WFH until the end of the year, with partial reoccupation from August this year for business critical functions and employees who are finding WFH challenging. The demand from staff in the latter group to return to the office at least part-time has been enormous apparently, almost 90%: I think many people enjoyed the novelty for the first few weeks but now want to return to the routine, the atmosphere and the social side. I can work reasonably effectively from home but I don’t like it.

Eminybob · 24/06/2020 16:33

Yeah and have been told it’ll likely be until at least next financial year.
I’m a mortgage adviser and usually sit in a branch doing face to face appointments. I’m now doing exactly the same job but over the phone.
There’s no real reason to bring us back in, it’s keeping overheads down for the same end result.
I’d rather be back in branch though for 1. Human contact and 2. Air conditioning!

DamitJanet · 24/06/2020 16:34

I’m furloughed but though who are in work are still WFH and we’re all expecting to be until at least the end of the year. We’re getting rid of some offices too so it may become a more permanent thing for many.

MRex · 24/06/2020 16:39

Yes, actually it's nice for the little international team members, joining in exactly the same as everyone else.

ShaunaTheSheep · 24/06/2020 16:43

Yes. HR are re-writing policies to cover expectations about the split between working from home and office time. I expect we will go in max 1 day/week , minimum 1 day/fortnight.

Aragog · 24/06/2020 18:50

I am. I teach on an infant school but I am clinically vulnerable so school prefers me to work from home. Tbh as I'm the one overseeing all home learning I'm better off at home with the faster internet and better computer.

Dh is at present. He is a solicitor. He was doing 1 day a week in the office this past month, up from a couple of hours a week before that. As of next week he will be in three days a week as they are now Covid secure for up to 50% staff at a time. They've no date for all in full time yet.

OddBoots · 24/06/2020 18:55

At the moment but only because of the role in temporarily during covid, my normal role is service user facing and we are back in the office 3 days a week at some point next month, we have just been able to recruit for the role I am covering so I will be back in the office soon.

ItWillBeOkayOnTheNight · 24/06/2020 20:02

I'm shielding (and working from home) but my local authority is saying anyone who can work from home should be. Think its being reviewed in September.

SedentaryCat · 24/06/2020 20:13

Yes. Planning to go back into the office in September but will move the servers back before then - gets noisy sometimes! We run our own business and moved everything home the week before lockdown. It's getting a bit wearing now....

I suspect we will WFH more from September onwards than we did prior to lockdown.

swimkiwipanda · 24/06/2020 20:13

God knows. I hate it. I'm one of those in the 'had just got the right balance in life' camp then all this happened and now its all in limbo.

Artesia · 24/06/2020 20:19

Yes, and am really missing the ferocious office air con today

MRex · 24/06/2020 20:42

@SedentaryCat - I hope you've got a cold room and big fans for those servers with this heat! I remember some old servers actually catching fire many years ago when they were in just an office server room in summer.
