Giving details in pubs?

Why are some people having problems with this? Anyone here have it in the countries they live in, was there problems there? How does it work?
If you pay by card (which they want) they will have your details anyway!!

Is it when the government say do this some people just HAVE to say no!

I’ve got no problem at all with it. If you don’t like it don’t go to the pub. Simple.

I think you’re right, some people just have to disagree with everything the government does, regardless.

I think people see pubs as an entitlement rather than a business that can refuse you entry if you don't abide by their terms and conditions.

I don't get this either. They've been doing it in Germany for weeks, and no doubt other countries too.

If you don't like it buy a bottle of wine in the supermarket and stay at home.

Honestly people have to complain about everything.

I don't get it either. What do they think is going to happen from the pub having a list of names and phone numbers. Plenty of venues have a list of names and phone numbers for people who use their services, and nobody has ever questioned it - for example giving your phone number when booking a restaurant table or signing up for gym membership.

As PPs have said, dont like it dont go to the pub. I'm sure people will get over it.

Because people have a really weird perception of personal data. Or they think the government are going big brother.

The same people whinging probably have all forms of social media. Alexa, smart phones with Siri or similar & GPS & pay by card for most things. Your data is WELL out there already 🙄

Don’t like it, don’t go. This won’t be forever but it’s a halfway house, a compromise that means pubs can get open again!

Should have thought of that. Although I think most people in pubs are out with family and friends, not having affairs!

They'll have to abide by GDPR anyway.

It sounds like a lot of pubs will have a table booking system anyway and therefore they will already have details from the booking system.

I wonder if people are not happy about giving out their personal data or if it's because they don't want to have to self-isolate for 14 days if someone tested positive while they were there.

Presumably, people still won't be able to go to the pub with friends anyway? The chairs around each table won't be 1m apart, will the? So you'll only be able to sit with those from your own household, won't you? Or have I misunderstood?

Wouldn't worry about it, most pubs will be shut again soon anyway, they'll soon realise they have no chance of actually making any money under the new rules.

I don't know why people have got a problem with giving details, like you say some people just like to moan.

I have no problem with it. It’s much the same as giving your phone number when you book a restaurant or order a takeaway or anything off the internet.

What details EXACTLY do you think the pubs hold from you if you pay by card? Your card number at best - and then I think it's only the banking system which is automated and the pub itself holds zero useful information.

Should there be any outbreak they would not be able to contact you from your bank card details. If you don't want to download a pub app, or give your details out, don't go to the pub. It'll be carnage anyway.

Don't get the British reliance on pubs, alcohol, and drinking to excess. It's pathetic behaviour.

I remember the same amount of whining went on when the smoking ban came in. But people soon forgot their desire to stink to high heaven.

All they care about is throwing pint after pint down their stupid throat, and they'll forget all about this as well just as soon as they're able to do that.

People like to get over-excited about pretty much anything because they're bored. If they don't like it they can drink at home, easy.

Not everyone who goes to the pub throws pint after pint down their neck, I even drive sometimes and drink lemonade.

They need your name and contact telephone number to be easily accessible so you can be contacted in the event of someone contracting Covid. They shouldn't have to work to find your address and telephone number from your card company as that delays contacting you.

Some people just like to moan about anything the Govt decides.

Our local pub has our contact details anyway, so no big deal.

Some people won't want others to know where they have been for various reasons but that doesn't come above keeping a lid on the virus.

I'd personally rather not because I don't want to get a message a couple of weeks after saying I need to quarantine.

@12:01borntohula - by the very nature of the infection, you'll only get a message within 14 days, not "couple of weeks after" when your mandatory isolation period would be just about finished anyway.

The only pub I have any plans on going near any time soon is my local who know us anyway.
