What about playgrounds?

Why can't they open? It makes no sense with so many other places opening. This would make the biggest difference to our family with 2 toddlers and no outside space to play.

I thought Boris said they could?

Tootletum · 23/06/2020 12:51

Yeah, can go to school, stand around buying tat in Primark but no, the swings are totally unacceptable!

onedayinthefuture · 23/06/2020 12:52

Again, kids have been forgotten. It's appalling that pubs can open and kids can't go to the park. Is there a petition?

Uhoh2020 · 23/06/2020 12:54

4th July outdoor playgrounds can open indoor soft play will stay closed

Amanduh · 23/06/2020 12:54

He’s literally just said parks and playgrounds can open..

Flippetydip · 23/06/2020 12:55

4th July? That's amazing news :)

AllTheCakes · 23/06/2020 12:55

Playgrounds can open

Greylife · 23/06/2020 12:55

Boris said they can open, it’s soft play that can’t.

Spam88 · 23/06/2020 12:55

Still no sign of them opening in wales :(

mynameiscalypso · 23/06/2020 12:55

Thanks for confirming, I thought I was going mad and I was the only one who heard that they'd be opening!

ineedaholidaynow · 23/06/2020 12:55

Outdoor playgrounds can open on 4th July, soft plays can't.

onedayinthefuture · 23/06/2020 12:56

Phew, I was getting really angry there because not everyone can afford an expensive trip to the zoo. What about splash parks?

Hellohello2020 · 23/06/2020 12:56

He said it quickly, didn't quite catch it thanks.

Sandybval · 23/06/2020 12:57

indoor soft play will stay closed

I think they'll be the very last thing to open, germ levels are always pretty grim. Feel really bad for the staff and owners though, we have an incredible local one which is owned by a lovely family who have worked really hard to build it up over the years, but it seems the right decision. Excellent news about outdoor playgrounds!

Uhoh2020 · 23/06/2020 13:01

@onedayinthefuture no water parks soft play bowling alleys gyms can open but outdoor tourist attractions playgrounds and cinemas can open

onedayinthefuture · 23/06/2020 13:05

That's a shame, I think a simple splash park would be fine.

I do hope pools will be able to open sooner than later, too many kids round my way swimming in the rivers and I don't think they realise the dangers.

FizzFan · 23/06/2020 13:07

I really hope they can open soon, it’s such a shame for the kids.

But hey, at least middle aged and old men can play golf

Uhoh2020 · 23/06/2020 13:09

@onedayinthefuture I think it's the changing rooms that's probably stopping swimming pools and splash parks opening

Rhubardandcustard · 23/06/2020 13:10

Gyms can’t open - only outdoor gyms

Mummydaydreams · 23/06/2020 13:12

They can open 4th July? Thank goodness for that that's amazing news! Thank you, I must have missed that bit

LockdownLou · 23/06/2020 13:17

Oh my

This is fantastic news for children. I am SO HAPPY about this :) :) :)

cologne4711 · 23/06/2020 13:17

I think outdoor pools should be able to reopen on a bookable basis (but there is bound to be a delay as lifeguards need to get swim-fit again and redo their competency tests) but definitely not indoor ones at the moment. Pool water is fine as it's full of chlorine but a hot indoor atmosphere is full of germs.

Mummyshark2018 · 23/06/2020 13:20

Hair salons can open but nail bar and beauty salons can't. What's that about? Most businesses have both on site. I've booked an appointment at my local salon for July , so I can get my hair done but not my nails....

ineedaholidaynow · 23/06/2020 13:22

I assume when you are having your hair done, most of the time the hairdresser is either behind you or by your side, whereas the person will be in front of you when you have your nails done.

Proudpeacock · 23/06/2020 13:22

@mummyshark2018 suspect it is because hairdressers usually stand behind you whereas beauty and nail technicians would need to be facing you.
