Following on from a previous thread I'd really like to know what you think?

OP posts:
PerkingFaintly · 12/06/2020 21:46

It has always been said of Johnson, he sees which way the Public Mood is heading, then rushes ahead to appear to be leading it.

^^ This. Tragically.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 12/06/2020 21:46

Abysmal

vera99 · 12/06/2020 21:51

Johnson is doomed to inherit the haunted Blair look for the rest of his naturals as the enormity of what he has done (or in his case hasn't done) plays havoc with his waking hours and restless sleep. Tragically for the UK many of our fellow citizens are also doomed to share it along with him.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 12/06/2020 22:15

English government? Smile

Eve · 12/06/2020 22:18

A shitshow, making it up as they go along.

And I’m not a moaning leftie , I’m a center / Slightly right floating voter.

katienana · 12/06/2020 22:18

Shite

Tigger001 · 12/06/2020 22:23

I don't think it could have been handled any worse.
They have failed, lied and shown true negligence at every turn.

PerkingFaintly · 12/06/2020 22:30

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite, actually Westminster govt, but health is a matter devolved to the governments in Scotland, Wales and NI. So the Westminster govt is effectively an English government in many respects on CV19.

But I'm sure you knew that.

I'm reasonably sure the OP did, too. Hence the phrasing.

vera99 · 12/06/2020 22:30

And the barefaced barely disguised lies and CUMMINGS ffs they take us for fools.

It wasn't meant to be like this, was it? It was meant to be hard Brexit and champagne for wealth creators. Not COVID-19, tanked economy and BLM Protests. Out of their depths.

ssd · 12/06/2020 22:33

I really don't think Johnson is troubled by having any conscience. He'll be just fine, whatever happens. He has his money and connections to bolster him.
vera99 · 12/06/2020 22:38

@ssd your probably right - he will exit stage right as soon as he can glad to be shut of the whole damn inconvenience. But one things for sure he will never be able to walk freely and enjoy the cheers of a doting populace like he did when he was mayor. Too much dirty water is flowing under that bridge.

OliviaPopeRules · 12/06/2020 22:44

I think they had made mistakes but done some things well too. I think it is hard to tell for another 6 months when we can see how final death toll, economic impact etc and see what worked and didn't here and in other countries.

ImMrsRobinson · 12/06/2020 22:56

Another thread condemning how the virus has been handled and blatantly ignoring the fact that the real blame lies with China but hey don’t let the facts stand in your way.

It’s not even over yet, not even part 1.

DippyAvocado · 12/06/2020 23:00

@reesewithoutaspoon

They were too busy worrying about the economy, that they locked down too late and now we are in a worse position economically than if they had locked down earlier and controlled the spread better so we could have come out sooner
This.
AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 12/06/2020 23:07

Dithering fuck up.

ImMrsRobinson · 12/06/2020 23:13

Should have been two weeks earlier with tighter restrictions like in other parts of Europe

I think you will find it should have been about 3 months earlier along with the rest of Europe but there was a lack of a crystal ball and disclosure from China.

Tr1skel1on · 12/06/2020 23:31

I posted my thoughts on the previous thread. I've never been a fan of the Tories.

What really surprised me was my 72 year old Dad, who has voted Tory all his life, telling me in great detail today how shit Boris was. If the Tories have lost the support of people like my dad Boris is in serious trouble

hopefulhalf · 13/06/2020 05:03

It would be comical if it wasn't so tragic.
Boris spoke about dither amd delay beimg harmful in the context of Brexit. Not half as harmful as his procrastination between the 12th and 23rd of March (30,000 lives).
Absolutely unforgivable.

WhyNotMe40 · 13/06/2020 07:53

Awful.
They ignored the WHO advice from arrogance and as a result did not have the data needed to lock down earlier.
Too wedded to the flu planning - again arrogance.
Constantly lied. No straight talking.
The Cummings shit show.
We are left with a government that noone would even trust to put the bins out.
Even if they would own up to their mistakes that would help, but no. They are too slippery and arrogant. Awful.

WhyNotMe40 · 13/06/2020 07:55

We desperately need the tracing app, but with this government, and with the app company's links to Cummings and his mates - who on earth will trust it?

Tadpolesandfroglets · 13/06/2020 08:03

@ImMrsRobinson the thread is about how the government have dealt with the pandemic not do you blame it on China. Too late to spend time assigning blame when it’s already here and costing lives. Boris needed to act swiftly and decisively, which he didn’t. There are still some things he could do to improve the situation (that are not happening).

Whoopsmahoot · 13/06/2020 08:04

Absolute dithering disgrace. No string leadership and idiotic behaviour ( shaking hands of infected patients in a hospital) FAR FAR too slow for lockdown, I could go on but the lust is endless

Whoopsmahoot · 13/06/2020 08:05

🤣 list is endless- the joy of predictive text!

WonderTweek · 13/06/2020 08:11

It's been an utter shitshow. Any trust I may have had for the government is now long gone, to the point that I feel that I can no longer live here (as dramatic as that sounds). I feel that the government has failed us all.

Burgundy1844 · 13/06/2020 08:14

Which is a shame because he has another four years at least. He’s had a difficult time of it since the election. The floods, Brexit, a pandemic and his own illness coupled with the problems with Cummings, Patel and others. Hard to see how the grand manifesto pledges can be met against the backdrop of a post-virus depression. I’d like to know what new conservative voters in the so called red wall constituencies are making of it!?
