Funny that some of you are talking about lupus and diabetes as I have that in my family. I have always had high blood sugar levels when tested but not enough to tip me into diabetes. I do everything to keep them down in regard of watching my diet. With the lupus my mum has it in the mild form of affecting her skin. She cant be in direct sunlight and gets tired very easy plus she gets patches on her skin. I wonder if the genetic inheritance of these genes play a part.

You asked for some good news. I have basically worked a full week not really at my normal capacity. Been in school two days and working from home the rest. Yesterday I woke up so tired I just mooched around all day and watched TV and only did what I needed to do. My back , underneath my ribs ached so much I took my bra off again and I has aches in my joints again. Mild headache and sore throat plus the cough yet again. plus an odd spike of temp Not as bad as I have felt more a feeling of being under the weather. The feeling as if I was getting a cold or going down with something. This morning woke up brighter but had trouble concentrating for long periods, cold feet then a massive hot flash for an hour with a pain at the top of my sternum on the right side and now feel ok. Back ache still there but much less, aches in joints the same, I can do things and finally enjoying my food more but at times so tired.
Just pleased to have got this far and taking it one day at a time. So lucky my head teacher is sympathetic and on board with post viral symptoms. So sorry to hear how some of you are still feeling really unwell post viral is not a nice place to be at times as you often do not make the progress you want. I am lucky to have my husband who has been through this a number of times and has guided me through. It is like groundhog day when you wake up and everyday no improvement or a small one then a back step. But slowly we are inch by inch starting to improve but it is so slow. I miss being able to do what I want, when I want at the speed I want. I now pace myself and think is this really important and how can I do it in small steps.

Kitcat122 · 07/06/2020 20:35

@AndsLee I first got a fever mid march so I am at 12 weeks 😩. @Gunner30 great you are feeling better.
Love to everyone still suffering ❤️

Moodgie · 07/06/2020 20:55

@Gunner30 My neighbour had suspected covid, he is a couple of months down the line I think - he has had ongoing throat problems to the point that he had to eat porridge and blended food. He was referred to any and had a camera I think and there was nothing there, I think he is meant to have a barium swallow. Fits the picture of mysterious symptoms.

Moodgie · 07/06/2020 20:55

*ent (not any)

AndsLee · 07/06/2020 20:58

@moodgie - gotta say, swallowing is slightly more difficult. I would be interested to know the outcome of the Barium Swallow...

Thank you for the update @Meercatmama . It sounds like you're getting there slowly, though hard with work too. Best wishes to you and your husband.

Kitcat122 · 07/06/2020 21:22

@Meercatmama you are lucky your headteacher is understanding . I am back at school full time. I am sure it's not helping my recovery. My head just doesn't understand I am still feeling ill.

LetsBeSensible · 07/06/2020 21:30

I am really fatigued but I’ve had a lot of change, now been moved to stay with family in a different region. Because my GP messed up the blood test appointment again, I now need to try and register as a temp patient in this town, so will call them tomorrow and see how that goes.
It’s really good seeing people again and having fresh food whenever I want. I had salad today it was amazing.

godhelpusall · 07/06/2020 21:45

Just to point out the difficulty swallowing on the dysautonomia list of symptoms

godhelpusall · 07/06/2020 21:45

And again, wouldn't show up in tests?

Meercatmama · 07/06/2020 22:03

@fedupofbed
I feel so bad that some of you are still in bed or feeling so bad still especially as I was on the first thread with you all I have been lucky with my husband as he has been through this many times so has guided me and not passed the symptoms off as anxiety. He helps that he has been so ill before and knows recovery is slow as well so we are supporting each other and have no children at home so no one really knows if our house is a mess or we spent most of the day in bed etc. I f I don't feel like getting dressed one morning and work on line in my pyjamas no one else know but us . Between us we have got through. Both of us still not well but surviving

AndsLee · 07/06/2020 22:03

@godhelpusall - aye, noticed about the swallowing when you posted the info about this condition earlier.

I'm struggling to get seen by my GP right now, never mind a diagnosis. Our NHS services are in 'phase 1', so the surgeries are still on limited access. I'm not saying I have difficulty swallowing...but it's not as natural as it should be.

I'm wondering if it will correct itself... my appetite has only just returned. Maybe the more I eat...?

Moominmamma33 · 07/06/2020 22:15

Hi all, sorry haven't posted for a while, sending support to everyone who's struggling at the moment. Flowers @Moodgie, as a positive story I am still on the up and up, fingers crossed! Symptoms since 14 March -ish. It's been 2.5 weeks without any SoB and energy increasingly daily, just left with GERD, doesn't sound as bad as yours @Gunner30. It's mainly stomach pain if I've eaten something that doesn't agree but sometimes acid reflux symptoms too. Managing if I remember to take Gaviscon. Can anyone recommend anything else to take?

Moodgie · 07/06/2020 22:23

@moominmamma33 Yay, great news, thank you!

Lightsabre · 08/06/2020 08:42

@Kitcat122, can you get a sick note to give you a few more weeks recovery time?

@Meercatmama, it's good you have your dh's experience to draw on. I feel so impatient to have a 'normal ' life again but deep down know my body has to heal itself and this will take time, especially as I'm in my 50's and wasn't the fittest anyway.

@LetsBeSensible, so glad you are getting some family support. Hopefully the local surgery will take you on.

@Rosesofeyam , the Doctor in the video posted earlier about 'energy banking'. Basically a window in which to do activity then we should rest. Hopefully, eventually this window will get longer. I am tornre; steroids - I want to take them to open up my airways but I'm also worried about the immune suppressant side of them.

Lightsabre · 08/06/2020 08:44

@Moominmamma33, GP's often prescribe Omeprazole for GERD symptoms. I took it for two weeks but felt bloated and didn't feel it made a lot of difference to my throat so am back on the tablet Gaviscon now.

Lightsabre · 08/06/2020 08:49

Thanks for the update @Gunner30 - I'd be really interested to see what tests they are doing on your throat. Are you finding it difficult to talk for long periods or laugh? That's what I'm experiencing along with the SOB and lung back pain. Coming into week 11 now.

Rosesofeyam · 08/06/2020 09:20

lightsabre I worried about taking the steriods in week 2-5, but they really helped with my breathing and enabling me to get the gunk off my chest. The mild pneumonia I had didn't get worse.
My asthma has been playing up the last couple of weeks first the pollen then the damp weather. I'm keeping an eye on my peak flow. If it gets lower I will probably be put back on a low dose again. I'm also on high dose steriods inhaler.

You can always try them to see if they help. Flowers

Crayfishforyou · 08/06/2020 11:14

Hello everyone, week 11.
I’ve had a fairly good few days. I’ve spent most of it lying down recovering from my week long relapse. I do feel slightly better.
I have developed a permanent splitting headache, I’ve recently come off decongestants so I’m hoping it will subside soon.
And I have a bit of nausea, my GP has started me on sertraline.
I have got myself a bit of a routine going. First thing in bed is decaf tea, toast and beta blocker. I’ve cut my dose down as I got really low blood pressure.
Then half an hour later I get up and take the sertraline. My pulse is worst in the morning so I’m trying to calm it.
I hope, once again, that this isn’t a blip but actually getting better. I don’t know how many times I’ve been here now but this time, I’m not going to try doing stuff.

Meercatmama · 08/06/2020 11:34

For those of you who have sinus problems husband just got off the phone to the doctors as his are still blocked. They recommended taking anti histamines to calm down the inflammation there. Also said they are seeing this a symptom post covid. Hope this helps

fedupofbed · 08/06/2020 12:15

@LetsBeSensible so glad you're being looked after now. Hope you manage to sort out an appointment too.

@Moominmamma33 great to hear things are going well.

@Crayfishforyou yay glad you're having a better few days, keep resting. I'd be very interested to find out how you get on with the sertraline. I have a packet here waiting for me to take, but I'm always a bit reluctant with new meds. I also have amitriptyline, which again I never took! The latter is supposed to be a really good sedative but it's side effects are all heart related so that put me off. I do feel I need to take something though as my mental health is not good.

I had a bit of a crappy night mainly due to oesaphagus issues. But today is definitely better than yesterday - breathing and heart better. I've just got back from my chiropractor appointment, which seemed to go well today. I'm not sure how much impact it's having but if nothing else it's helping my mental health! I just hope the physical effort of getting there doesn't counteract the good it does.

We were talking about GERD and she says that omeprazole isn't great for bone health (I am osteopenic) and this is especially an issue if you're approaching or reached menopause. So bloody confusing. So now think I'm going to stop this and ask the GP about famotidine which is what all the Americans on slack are taking (Pepcid).

Norugratsatall · 08/06/2020 12:28

Hello everyone.

I e found the new thread. Thank you to whoever started it.

I posted regularly on one of the earlier threads but haven't posted for a while. I must say it's disheartening to see many of the same names still here.... 💐

I was feeling much much better and this time felt as though I'd really turned a corner and wanted to report this all back to you all for a bit of encouragement for those still suffering from this virus. Had 8 or 9 really good days!

Then on Saturday 30 May I had a massive crash! Im on,y just starting to emerge from it now, not sure what caused it. Possibly over doing things... awful fatigue and weakness, muggy headaches, nausea, chest pain, SOB and the ever present tinnitus. It set me back mentally too....

I've read up a lot of research that's coming through the slack group and now realise (haha!) that exercise of any sort will pretty much guarantee a relapse.

So here I am.... feeling better today and hopefully wiser too. Have just done a bit of hoovering and intend to sit on my backside for the rest of the day.

Sorry to see all these familiar usernames after all this time...when on earth will this misery end for us?!

As an aside, is anyone keeping a log or diary of their experience? I am trying to, in case, in the future, it can be of any help to the medical profession or researchers. And just to help me come to terms with what's happening to me too!

I hope everyone has a better day!

Norugratsatall · 08/06/2020 12:34

And am on day 79! Sadly, like many of you, suspect I can 'Look forward' to my centenary in a couple of weeks. 😔
