Are you still food shopping as infrequently as possible?

Just wondering really who is still keeping away from supermarkets?

I was going strictly only once a week and making dinner with whatever I had in. But before lockdown I'd go 2-3 times a week to top up.

Once a week delivery or collection. We used to go multiple times a day so this is a massive reduction for us.

CornishYarg · 04/06/2020 17:24

I used to pop into the local shop for a top up to the weekly shop at least twice a week if not more. Since lockdown started, we've only gone once a week and are still doing that.

Topseyt · 04/06/2020 17:26

I shop weekly in the supermarket as I more or less always did. I go to Tesco. A few days later DH goes to Aldi for a bit of a top up shop.

All that is pretty much normal for us.

MayFayre · 04/06/2020 17:31

Weekly Ocado delivery, local farm shop for meat, fish delivery by courier, bread delivery.

Only going to actual supermarkets if I really have to. I can’t face the queuing and it’s no fun at all to visit. Pre coronavirus I’d go several times a week, particularly at this time of year when I like to buy fresh strawberries and raspberries that don’t keep well.

gingercat02 · 04/06/2020 17:32

Yes click and collect once a week only the occasional emergency milk dash

wildthingsinthenight · 04/06/2020 17:33

Yes as little as possible

Hedgehog44 · 04/06/2020 17:35

Delivery or click and collect once a week. DH will pop into our local Tesco Express if we need something though. He has been at work the whole time so is quite relaxed about it.

lazylinguist · 04/06/2020 17:35

I shop weekly, as I always have done. But if I needed to, I'd be more inclined to feel happy to pop into a supermarket for a top-up now than I would have been a month ago.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/06/2020 17:38

Apart from a trip to the local Co-op very early on to pick up some bread and milk I hadn't been in a shop at all until this Monday when I went to Sainsbury's to collect something from Argos.
I've been using Tesco deliveries and click & collect.

For the first month or so I had an online order every 2 weeks, and now approx every 10-12 days.

Previously I'd shop weekly at Aldi on the way home from work with a Tesco trip every month or so for things I couldn't get from Aldi.

CakeCakeCake21 · 04/06/2020 17:38

I am not still food shopping as infrequently as possible, no. But not going to big supermarkets, I never use them anyway.

Scotinengland76 · 04/06/2020 17:40

I go nearly everyday

ScarfLadysBag · 04/06/2020 17:40

We shop online weekly from Tesco and then have a milkman and local cafe/farm shop/butcher deliveries to top up with fresh fruit and baked goods, plus bulk buying meat for freezer.

IsadoraQuagmire · 04/06/2020 17:40

No, I go every couple of days, or more often. I've only had to queue once, and that was only behind one other person (well, actually two, but they were together and went in together)

MorrisZapp · 04/06/2020 17:41

No, I go every day. Have done throughout lockdown.

frozendaisy · 04/06/2020 17:41

Yes little as possible do one online shop if we need anything else use local but have to go this weekend for kid's clothes been put off too long.

NaturalBornWoman · 04/06/2020 17:59

I’ve carried on having a weekly Ocado delivery but I used to pop into M&S a few times a week on my way home from work which I don’t do now so my order has to cover the whole week.

littlbrowndog · 04/06/2020 18:15

Most days

Flagsfiend · 04/06/2020 18:17

I have done a weekly shop for years, but usually would get my husband to pop in to local supermarket on his way home from work once a week to pick up milk and anything else we needed. Now I just buy an extra bottle of milk on my weekly shop so it is only one trip a week. Also planning meals that would last 2 weeks in case we have to isolate - I'm basically shopping a week in advance ( if we had to isolate we'd do without some fresh stuff but wouldn't go hungry).

Quarantino · 04/06/2020 18:19

Yes, once a fortnight, compared to at least 2x a week before lockdown. Although having to go for a second time this week thanks to Ocado not bringing ingredients I needed.

RedskyAtnight · 04/06/2020 18:20

Up till now have only been going out for a weekly shop, but have agreed with DH that he'll go to M&S (normally we alternate Tesco/Aldi) as an extra shop to use up some vouchers we have. We wouldn't have done that a few weeks a go.

Still only 1 adult is going shopping - I have noticed that more people are starting to shop with others again.

AuntieMarys · 04/06/2020 18:22

I do a big shop every 6 days at Sainsburys or Waitrose. Never queued more than 10 minutes and I use self scan so no queues to pay.
Top up twice a week at local Tesco Express for fruit/veg.

Drivingdownthe101 · 04/06/2020 18:23

Yes, but only because shopping is a miserable experience now. Queues, one way systems, people tutting behind you if you spend too long perusing items.
I won’t be going in any non essential shops until restrictions are eased either, it sounds shit.

EssentialHummus · 04/06/2020 18:26

Yes, but it's little to do with Covid. We're saving loads - no more little top-ups here and there and we don't miss anything. Plus Sainsbury's deliveries have come through where Ocado hasn't and that's been brilliant.

bigbluebus · 04/06/2020 18:32

Used to do supermarket shop weekly but since lockdown I have only been to Lidl and Home Bargain fortnightly. We have topped up fruit and veg from an outdoor stall and bought milk and other buts from the village shop. I have only ever had to queue once (2 weeks ago for Lidl) but it was very quiet today at 8.45am. No plans to change my shopping habits again any time soon.

NoHardSell · 04/06/2020 18:32

I go most days, went a bit less often during peak queue times (although then I just went outside peak queue times), avoided it in the beginning when people were fighting over toilet rolls
I need to go today in fact. Went yesterday.
