This is appalling. I hope he isn't too unwell and makes a rapid recovery, of course, but this is on JRM and the PM. Those scenes from the Commons yesterday were just ridiculous and those MPs are now fanning out across the country going back to their constituencies.

This tweet includes a clip showing him sweating profusely and wiping his face. twitter.com/evolvepolitics/status/1268207937211809792?s=20

I wonder how many mps will be on his contact list?

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/06/2020 21:35

this is on JRM and the PM.

Yup

Redolent · 03/06/2020 21:36

Clearly their goal is for Starmer to contract coronavirus and be too unwell to do PMQs for a couple of weeks.

raviolidreaming · 03/06/2020 21:58

Fuck sake.

starrynight19 · 03/06/2020 22:00

He clearly didn’t look well on the video. Hope he makes a quick recovery.

Lumene · 03/06/2020 22:02

I hope he gets well soon.

Parliament should not be sitting if they can work from home. It’s ridiculous.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/06/2020 22:02

Just watched Despatches about government's response to the pandemic. Inept to the point of criminally negligent. Angry

OP posts:
ScarfLadysBag · 03/06/2020 22:04

Why on earth was he there? Even if you started feeling unwell once you were there, surely you would leave immediately? Confused

ScarfLadysBag · 03/06/2020 22:06

And yes the whole thing is ridiculous!

TheTiaraManager · 03/06/2020 22:23

He certainly looks pesky.

It's ridiculous! They will be safer at home & can contribute via technology for voting and almond. BJ & JRM just want everyone there

iwantmysay · 03/06/2020 22:27

Why was he at work? you don't suddenly go from being totally fine to sweating profusely and looking very ill.

Totally irresponsible and (as said by PP) MPs are only back in there because Johnson wants more jeering support behind him.

These people are beyond belief.

Teddypops · 03/06/2020 22:28

So will the track and trace come into play here? Will people who he been in contact with have to self isolate? If he tests positive obviously.

PastaBolognaise · 03/06/2020 22:33

It’s the staff in Parliament I feel most sorry for. The MPs chose whether to attend but the staff now have no choice. Cleaners, catering staff, security staff, legal staff, procedural staff, political staff all made to travel in and now all exposed and probably all travelled back on public transport after exposure.

JRM said a physical parliament is necessary. Bullshit. He said MPs needed to be present in Parliament to properly consider their vote. Bullshit, must sit in bars and tea rooms and wait for their whips to tell them which way to vote. Often they don’t know what they are voting on. They even installed vote alert bells in local pubs so MPs could drink in even more outlets while waiting for a vote. That’s all traditional and OK but voting from home while keeping staff and civilians safe is not OK.

chomalungma · 03/06/2020 22:42

If you can work from home, then work from home..

There is going to be some embarrassing interview rounds tomorrow morning.

Gingerkittykat · 03/06/2020 22:47

sigh This is unbelievable and will be a reason for more people to defy lockdown measures.

I think he should resign, but know it won't happen.

Gingerkittykat · 03/06/2020 22:49

I'm also wondering how he travelled to parliament. Did he get a taxi or other form of public transport where he was potentially putting a driver and other members of the public at risk?

StartingGrid · 03/06/2020 22:56

God he doesn't look right at all Shock

Belindabelle · 03/06/2020 23:01

Who did he catch it from. Perhaps another MP who is not showing symptoms? They could all be going down like flies. How many MP’s have gone back to their constituencies tonight potentially spreading Covid all round the country. All that ridiculous queuing up to vote yesterday when the past few weeks have proved they can work and vote from home adequately enough.

The Speaker refused to increase the number of MP’s in the chamber so JRM’s plan to bolster Johnson’s piss poor performance at PMQ’s with the braying backing band failed anyway.

megletthesecond · 03/06/2020 23:02

So they're doing presenteeism in the middle of a pandemic?
Marvellous, what could possibly go wrong.

Belindabelle · 03/06/2020 23:04

Sharma is a Minister so will have an official car. Let’s hope his driver is ok.

PerkingFaintly · 03/06/2020 23:11

Well no one could have seen that coming.Hmm

Best wishes for him getting well soon.

newroundhere · 03/06/2020 23:17

FFS.

WFH.

FliesandPies · 03/06/2020 23:44

Everything Rees-Mogg touches goes to shit, he manages to out-disgrace even this total disgrace of a government. What is point of keeping this moron around?

TokyoSushi · 03/06/2020 23:49

At least we'll see what happens with our 'world leading test, track and trace' system. If he's positive then of course it'll swing into action, they'll all efficiently get phone calls from persuasive/clearly not fraudulent tracers and they'll all do their civic duty and self isolate. 😒
