This is appalling. I hope he isn't too unwell and makes a rapid recovery, of course, but this is on JRM and the PM. Those scenes from the Commons yesterday were just ridiculous and those MPs are now fanning out across the country going back to their constituencies.

Why the fuck did he attend if he had symptoms?

In todays Daily Briefing they were using words like "rules" and "prohibited"

Whats the betting they will switch back to "guidelines" again now.

JRM FFS AngryAngryAngry

ExShield · 04/06/2020 00:02

That’s MADNESS. He clearly has something, whether it’s CV or not.

tumpymummy · 04/06/2020 00:09

This whole situation is totally farcical. If people weren't dying it would almost be funny, it's so rediculous. I have no faith in the government whatsoever anymore.

OneJump · 04/06/2020 00:31

It's fucking insanity that Rees Morgue has called them back when they had a perfectly workabke wfh solution in place. It's absolutely terrifying how dangerously inept/malicious this government is.

All so Johnson has his braying fans behind him because he is so utterly dreadful at his job. Despicable.

Boris Johnson hosted a baby shower for Carrie Symonds at Chequers just two days before announcing "now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others" - yet more "necessary" travel from Downing Street revealed in the new Private Eye.

colouringindoors · 04/06/2020 00:43

Rees Morgue Grin thank you!

chomalungma · 04/06/2020 08:16

And that didn't help him yesterday at all.

twinnywinny14 · 04/06/2020 08:33

Tbh he didn’t look like he should he been there at that time. Whatever it is he looked very unwell

Snagscardies · 04/06/2020 08:36

They expect workers to stop work and not get paid (sick pay isn't enough to cover peoples basic cost) if they have any of the symptoms and wait for a covid test, they expect people to stop working and not get paid if they have been in contact with someone that has CV..... But MPs have different rules evidently

Frazzled2207 · 04/06/2020 08:42

If he is positive it will be a significant test for the contact tracers as due to this pointless spectacle he’s probably been in contact with far more people than most of us would have.
I don’t know why he didn’t just go home as soon as he felt dodgy though. Apparently he was in parliament and feeling dodgy on Tuesday too.
Hope he recovers but that JRM has a rethink. All his fault.

Snagscardies · 04/06/2020 09:01

Will Boris have to self isolate if he has been in close contact?

hopefulhalf · 04/06/2020 09:02

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.. ....

chomalungma · 04/06/2020 09:08

No doubt that will be raised at the briefing tonight

iwantmysay · 04/06/2020 09:08

Considering we are supposed to still be keeping to the 2m rule, essential journeys only, not allowing friends etc to our homes & he doesn't use public transport, how did he get it?

JRM doesn't act in a bubble, his wish to get Parliament back in again, would need govt approval, at the highest level.

onalongsabbatical · 04/06/2020 09:10

I hope he gave Jacob Rees-Mogg a massive hug.
And a lick.

CrunchyCarrot · 04/06/2020 09:17

You couldn't make it up, could you. Hmm

I love 'Rees Morgue' as a name! Brilliant. Grin

@TokyoSushi

At least we'll see what happens with our 'world leading test, track and trace' system. If he's positive then of course it'll swing into action, they'll all efficiently get phone calls from persuasive/clearly not fraudulent tracers and they'll all do their civic duty and self isolate. 😒
Well, not unless they've been closer than 2m for at least 15 min, which they probably haven't.
glitterfarts · 04/06/2020 09:31

2m away doesn't stop you getting it!

Just reduces the likelihood of someone who is infected and coughing having actual droplets land on you. Do people actually think the virus stops at 2m?

Its been shown to hover in the air for quite some time, and stay alive on surfaces

hopefulhalf · 04/06/2020 09:33

Is it 2m across the dispatch box ? Does look it, but I might be wrong.

HarrietOh · 04/06/2020 09:37

The Guardian;
The business secretary, Alok Sharma, might have had a bout of “severe hayfever” when he appeared ill in the House of Commons on Wednesday, according to the Northern Ireland secretary, Brandon Lewis.

hopefulhalf · 04/06/2020 09:40

Sorry doesn't look it

pinktaxi · 04/06/2020 09:46

Ridiculous that MPs cannot continue working from home. That needs a major rethink.
