WE can meet family

I don’t think you are meant to use any toilet, the whole point is you are meant to avoid touching any surfaces that anybody else does.

PotteringAlong · 28/05/2020 17:34

6 is a rubbish number. There are 5 of us in our family so 6 changes nothing.

MorrisZapp · 28/05/2020 17:35

The most common household size in the UK is two.

Deathraystare · 28/05/2020 17:35

Bollocks - I’ll have to mop my floor grin

Better get up early then!!!

romatheroamer · 28/05/2020 17:36

Already been said but when I saw the heading....judging by posts on MN, some people have already been doing this for weeks.

ineedaholidaynow · 28/05/2020 17:36

Maybe they factor in that many people in this country refuse to have any social responsibility and refuse to follow any rules.

Ilovewillow · 28/05/2020 17:37

I'm delighted for others but sadly not helpful for all. All my close family live three hours away and a ferry journey and I haven't seen them since Christmas, missing them terribly. Number also seems odd given a lot of families have a couple of children, my friend has 4 children so 6 already. However, a move in the right direction and my sister will be able to check on my parents at least.

Chloemol · 28/05/2020 17:38

Surely it’s 6 as you still have to social distance, how many people will have a garden big enough for more than that?

I get it’s not going to suit all, but surely you could meet some of them at least!

IndiaMay · 28/05/2020 17:38

I have no idea either way on this, but as a tally, who will go to peoples gardens and use their toilet?

I was thinking both my parents have back doors to the gardens, they could leave this and all internal doors open and I could walk through and pee and come back outside without touching anything. I wouldnt even have to shut the bathroom door tbh. In neither house can you see into the bathroom from any windows and if you let everyone know you were popping to the loo, no one would wonder in and catch you. So all I would have to touch is the taps. Would you do this? Or are people genuinely taking Potties, she wees etc.? I dont know what to do.

Ughmaybenot · 28/05/2020 17:39

Fucking yay 😀

Scruffyoak · 28/05/2020 17:41

People already doing that here Confused

PseudoQuim · 28/05/2020 17:41

I missed the briefing - meant to watch it but lost track of time. Was anything said about children being among the 6 people? We are a family of 3, so could go and visit either set of grandparents... however DS has just turned 3 and I doubt he'd keep his distance. We'd love to see them though.

MorrisZapp · 28/05/2020 17:41

I've been going to my mums once a week since lockdown started, chatting in the garden and using her downstairs loo which she doesn't use.

I should think lots of others have done similar.

imsooverthisdrama · 28/05/2020 17:42

Yay , it's great news Grin
My family are walking distance but if they need the loo I'll say yes but please wash your hands Grin

ProtectAll · 28/05/2020 17:42

For me this is good, although I am one if the ones who from when we were allowed to meet in the park have been doing it but with my parents in their front/side garden. Will be doing it again this weekend but no bbq yet as that to me is too close and too much sharing. I even take my own drink. They live close so I go for as long as I can without needing the loo.

Flaxmeadow · 28/05/2020 17:43

They've just said if going to the loo make sure wash hands and wipe down surfaces

GrimmsFairytales · 28/05/2020 17:43

But the 2 families don't have to be socially distanced from those withing their family. For example if family A who are 6 people, visit family B who are a family of 4, so long as they're distanced from each other by 2m that's safe.
peoplepleaser1 · 28/05/2020 17:43

Surely though not everyone needs to be 2m apart- only those from separate households. So the 3 of us in my family can sit together 2m from another family of 3 who all sit together.

randomer · 28/05/2020 17:43

How absolutely stupid. So people in flats can't meet up? Pathetic.
CHAOS

BikeRunSki · 28/05/2020 17:43

Still no good when my mum lives 260 miles away. Can’t do that and back in a day.

GrimmsFairytales · 28/05/2020 17:44

peoplepleaser1

Crossed posted with you there, we have the same thought.

Flaxmeadow · 28/05/2020 17:44

Children are people so would think the 6 includes them

clarehhh · 28/05/2020 17:45

Chief medical officer said they can come in for toilet providing you wipe everything down after.

WorraLiberty · 28/05/2020 17:45

DishingOutDone

I'm confused, my neighbours have been doing this since March - and I'm talking about more than one street. What Boris is saying now is pretty much what our whole village has been doing since March. As long as they are outside or in the garden, they do as they like and friends and family come over. They don't do the 2 metres either; outside is safe as far as they are concerned.

What are you confused about?

Did you not realise your neighbours and whole village were breaking the rules? Confused

LST · 28/05/2020 17:46

Say you're a family of 6... you can't have anyone round? How bloody stupid 🙄
