The centrepiece of the Cummings testimony underlines the problem. Mr Cummings’ child ended up in a Durham hospital. DC said that he was concerned he would end up there too. This is what the authorities wanted to avoid and why people were urged to stay in their primary residence.

So taking his son on a drive to see if his eyesight was OK was keeping him safe. How about leaving him at home with his mum, you'd only be risking other people then.

No, he wasn't looking for loopholes. He is looking for them after the event now. He needed to go a half hours drive away to see if he could drive. What if he could only drive for a half hour and would collapse if he drove for 40 minutes. It is such a crock, isn't it?
