Thread three for following the uproar at playing down the lock down and rewriting the rules.

Wikipedia clearly says that Mary Wakefield was born on 12 April.
Both DH and I had birthdays during lockdown and none of us even for a second dreamt about going to our favorite local beauty spot ( 25 minutes drive) . We cooked a meal from what was available and were grateful to be alive and well.
And by the way our DD has additional needs. One of my friends has health issues and 2 DC, one of them with global development delay - she followed all the rules. Another family both parents were unwell and looked after primary age child with additional needs through it. So no, nothing in DC’s statement will affect my view. He broke the rules and he should go.

Maxnormal, very good!

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 15:06

This really really made me laugh

Mary Wakefield looks a fairly nice lady. I've never heard of her before all this.

What she sees in Dominic and his orange and red t shirts I'm not sure?
At least his boss always looks reasonably smart ( from neck down) which is all I can find remotely good to say about Boris.

I love Nicola Sturgeon standing in front of a ' stay at home' sign!

4pm to hear Dominic speak.
Such interesting times politically we live in.
So sad that other things are on the back burner though!

MaxNormal · 25/05/2020 15:09

@tiredvommachine it's called I See You, on Facebook and there's a new one every Monday. It's genius.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 15:10

Dominic republic. !
Oh dear.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 15:14

Not sure Cummings' sister is involved with Faculty - from what I can find out she is married to someone registered as a farmer in Durham at an address very, very close to Cummings' parents.

AKissAndASmile · 25/05/2020 15:18

Thanks @SabrinaThwaite

Rinoachicken · 25/05/2020 15:20

Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen has said “ Many have judged Dominic Cummings without hearing his side of the story. That will change this afternoon and will be unprecedented. It’s possible that people will be surprised.”

Unless he announces himself to be actual superman and was on a world saving mission then no, sorry, my view won’t change.

Or perhaps he’s going to unveil an identical twin?

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 15:20

Andrew Bridgen
Many have judged Dominic Cummings without hearing his side of the story. That will change this afternoon and will be unprecedented. It’s possible that people will be surprised.

Interesting...

Saucery · 25/05/2020 15:21

Well, anything is possible, I suppose ! Grin

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 15:21

Haha cross posted with Rinoachicken

I would love to know the twist that will make us all change our minds. Surely it can't just be my son has autism?

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 15:21

I guess it will be about his little boy.
Only reason his doing this.

ButteryPuffin · 25/05/2020 15:22

Mary Wakefield looks a fairly nice lady

From Wikipedia

In 2015, following an online petition, Wakefield was forced to apologise and amend an article she had written forThe Spectatorin which she described an 18-year-old who had recently died in a moped crash as a "thuggish white lad".

tiredvommachine · 25/05/2020 15:22

Thanks @MaxNormal

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 15:22

Is Bridgen one of the 20 ?
Or a supporter

ButteryPuffin · 25/05/2020 15:23

Gosh, Dom really is cross that we haven't all taken his side yet, isn't he?

MaxNormal · 25/05/2020 15:23

I don't care for Wakefield at all. I was very unimpressed with her making much of her faith in an article that turned out to be largely fabrication.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 15:23

Right, I know nothing about Dom's wife I'm afraid.

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 15:24

Whatever it is I can guarantee that there will be thousands of families in his situation who didn't do what he did

This sums up my feelings on whatever excuse DC uses.

MaxNormal · 25/05/2020 15:25

@ButteryPuffin so she's another real woman of the people then.

NotJustACigar · 25/05/2020 15:27

I'm guessing he'll say he didn't believe in lockdown and thinks we should have gone for herd immunity anyway. Then he'll say "I'm sorry that you feel didn't I didn't do the right thing" and finally he'll have a big whinge about how he and his family are being harassed and hounded.

ButteryPuffin · 25/05/2020 15:27

@MaxNormal oh yes. Daughter of Sir Humphrey Wakefield of Chillingham Castle. Just like you and me.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 15:27

I don't care for Wakefield at all. I was very unimpressed with her making much of her faith Covid-19 experience in an article that turned out to be largely fabrication.

Fixed it for you.

janet1267 · 25/05/2020 15:28

Unprecedented? That's a new angle I suppose.
The little boy is the one who, according to Mary, was dressed in a doctor's outfit administering to daddy. Feeding him Rubens. Fetching the oximeter. Saying how gross it was when she threw up on the bathroom floor, while passing her a towel.

It's all a load of utter bullshit.

I don't know who is worse, her or him.
Neither compares to Johnson after his woeful defence of Cummings last night.
