Saw the previous thread is almost full. Hope I've not duplicated a new thread! And I might not be the best person to be custodian of this one, so feel free someone else to start a replacement and I'll get this deleted. Otherwise -

Here we all are, at least 56 days plus 😕

I had no real raised temp either. Mine is always sitting at about 35.5 (thyroid) and it maybe went up to 36 something some days. I often got very cold though.

Haenow · 03/06/2020 15:44

I’ve never heard of Adenovirus. I need to read up on this! I am 80% sure I had Covid but they didn’t swab test as I “only” (ha!) spent one night in hospital even though it was in early April during that peak weekend. I’m entertaining the thought of the antibody test.

Haenow · 03/06/2020 15:48

^ sorry to post twice but wanted to ask if anyone has been able to get tested for the adenovirus on the NHS?

godhelpusall · 03/06/2020 16:18

Can any of you give feedback on this? I'm worried that we are actually looking at chronic virus

Hi all,

The surgery just called and I have my Mri head scan and neck x-ray at the hospital on Friday. Didn’t expect the appointment to come this quick, it’s a good thing but I’m also feeling very overwhelmed and scared 😒Has anyone ever had a head/brain scan?

Moodgie · 03/06/2020 16:58

@godhelpusall I think the scientists agreed that it has not got the structure to stay in the body?

Haenow · 03/06/2020 16:58

Hi @Whatnext2018
I’ve had a few head scans, CT and MRIs. It’s not too bad because only your head is in the scanner, the rest of your body is out of it.
Happy to help and answer any questions. :)
Best of luck.

Whatnext2018 · 03/06/2020 17:01

Thank you @Haemow Was it to do with all this, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m freaking out that they’ll find something scary

godhelpusall · 03/06/2020 17:03

@Moodgie I thought so but looking at it there are RNA viruses. So by chronic it means that the body hasn't fully expelled the virus and is in some limbo or symbiosis with immune cells. That's different to the virus being latent in dna I think

Moodgie · 03/06/2020 17:15

@godhelpusall that scares me and I hope this is not the case especially as we are very very slowly getting better - I think.

Moodgie · 03/06/2020 17:16

@godhelpusall I’m trying to stick to the idea that the virus is gone but our immune system has reacted weirdly.

Monty6 · 03/06/2020 17:20

@godhelpusall - I don’t know what the eventual answer will be. I think we could be properly post-viral. However, i haven’t seen sufficient evidence yet that would rule out the virus remaining longer in at least some people. They think it cannot go latent, but i haven’t heard people rule out the possibility of chronic. Then again, this is very definitely not the current main stream view. There have been a couple of people many weeks in who have recovered after receiving plasma from recovered patients, suggesting in their cases at least the virus was still present. They may have been unusual cases, in at least one case they were immumo-compromised. Whilst it is even a small possibility that the virus is hitching a ride for longer i would be keen to see as much research as possible. The much easier (cheaper) answer for the medical decision makers is to dismiss it as post-viral and get away with largely ignoring us.

godhelpusall · 03/06/2020 17:23

Exactly @Monty6 . But that's not ok. We need to make an almighty fuss en masse to find out and get treatment if we need it. The post viral answer is convenient.

Moodgie · 03/06/2020 17:24

Someone posted this on slack, hope they won’t mind me copying it in here:
So, I just spoke to my GP. This is now a KNOWN THING. It is being referred to as “post Covid syndrome” and there is a growing understanding that many people are suffering from a wide range of severe symptoms months out. I have been referred to a newly set up specialist Covid clinic at the Whittington in north London (yet to have my appointment) which is being run out of the respiratory department there. It is my GPs understanding that other clinics of this nature are being set up.

Monty6 · 03/06/2020 17:27

P.s. i don’t think this is something we should worry about. I think there are good reasons to be optimistic that we could be cured in the perhaps unlikely case this has gone chronic for some of us.

godhelpusall · 03/06/2020 17:28

@Monty6 I agree but I suppose I just want us to not be overlooked.

Monty6 · 03/06/2020 17:34

@godhelpusall - completely agree. We need to encourage research into our cases. Hopefully having researchers and medics who have suffered themselves might make this more likely.

Moodgie · 03/06/2020 17:39

I think if we were chronic we would still be testing positive on the swab test.

Monty6 · 03/06/2020 17:41

@godhelpusall - sorry just cross-posted. I should have added to my earlier p.s. that we can only get help if it is chronic if this can be shown to be happening. I agree the research is critical here. If it turns out to be post-viral the research may help to better understand what happens in pvf/me type conditions, which would also be hugely valuable.

LetsBeSensible · 03/06/2020 17:56

Thanks @Moodgie It’s good to hear “post covid” treatment might become a thing!
I felt alright when I woke up today at week 11, however the GERD has gone bonkers! So much burning that I went to the bathroom to get the rennies which was lucky as I had a projectile incident

Egghead68 · 03/06/2020 18:25

@Whatnext2018 MRI-brain is noisy and you might find it difficult if you are claustrophobic but as a pp said it’s only your head that goes in. Might help to close your eyes and pretend you are on a beach or something. Good luck!

fedupofbed · 03/06/2020 18:39

@Whatnext2018 that was quick. No experience sorry but I hope it goes well.

Whatnext2018 · 03/06/2020 18:47

@Egghead68 Thank you, any idea how long it takes?

@fedupofbed I know 😬 was a bit surprised as thought would be a bit longer, it’s a good hospital for here though, so for the money etc, they’re very efficient. It’s a good think it’s so quick, but also scary!
