DS statement on Cummings is shameful

Basically I am sceptical about how terrible this could be to get for all of us - the mild illness stuff has been dropped as not helpful to the general lock us all up thing.

Regardless as a law abiding person I've stuck to the rules.

Which I thought meant you had to self isolate if you had symptoms and no, you couldn't go somewhere easier. If you had kids you all stayed in together, relied on deliveries or the local council support schemes and 111 if it was bad.

So I'm sickened by the knot tying in getting Cummings off the hook.

Boris can't keep hoping everything will blow over. At some stage he has to either accept that he's the prime minister, the buck stops with him, and take control. Or alternatively he should claim ill health (might be true) or inability to cope (definitely true) and step down.

Leaving the house while showing symptoms is not and never has been within guidelines.

Rishi wading in

DS statement on Cummings is shameful
YogaLite · 23/05/2020 11:48

So we were fools to accept the rules after all???

Lumene · 23/05/2020 11:50

A friend of mine was the same but her children were sent to family because she needed to go into hospital on two occasions. It’s not always as easy as dragging yourself through it.

Dominic Cummings didn’t go to hospital though did he? And his wife was there too. And your friend didn’t drive hundreds of miles to a different house just in case she was sick.

So not really the same.

YogaLite · 23/05/2020 11:51

The statement has so much detail that it must have been written by Cummings.

Have read in the past that Carrie hates him too, maybe eventually he will go.

SouthWestmom · 23/05/2020 11:51

Rishi trying to score Brownie points with the boss, then.

Ffs there's no way that driving to your parents is justifiable.

We've had Ferguson, the Scottish woman and Gove getting his daughter tested before they were widely available. It's bloody infuriating.

Hashtag dominiccummings isn’t trending on Twitter. It’s not even in the top 30.

His wife’s articles their time with Corona never once refers to Durham.

I feel more angry than I normally would about something political.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 23/05/2020 11:54

@sunbathingdragon

Being so ill you need hospital treatment is different to travelling 270 miles across the country to a place that (at that time) had relatively few cases of coronavirus to dump your kids on elderly relatives

DippyAvocado · 23/05/2020 11:55

It just craps all over families who've tied themselves in knots over childcare because the rules said not to leave the house if you have symptoms. The deputy chief medical officer's vague statement about using family for childcare in an emergency came was made weeks after Cummings travelled to Durham.

He is not even a member of the government, he isn't elected, he isn't irreplaceable. Get rid of him.

seriousandloyal · 23/05/2020 11:58

It is indefensible and just shows contempt for the public to try and spin it as somehow within the rules.

Choux · 23/05/2020 11:59

Raab wrote almost the exact same comment as Sunak. And gove wrote 'caring for your wife and child is not a crime' or similar. They are clearly trying to close ranks around Cummings.

DS statement on Cummings is shameful
Tavannach · 23/05/2020 12:00

Rishi"s wrong.
Dominic Cumming's wasn't taking care of his wife and child. He was getting someone else to do that.
The clear advice was that if you had it you had to isolate at home - you know, your own home, not someone else's 250 miles away - for 7 days and members of your household had to isolate for 14 days.

AnyFucker · 23/05/2020 12:01

Disappointing from Sunak. I think a silence from him would have said a thousand words.

SouthWestmom · 23/05/2020 12:01

So they are trying to play on the emotional heart strings of the public. Nothing it see here, move along.

I bet the whole bloody lot of them are doing exactly what they want when they want, probably had a pox party while the rest of us weren't allowed to access the NHS to guarantee their recovery.

They all got the same message in their WhatsApp group this morning then

EmMac7 · 23/05/2020 12:07

Neil Ferguson’s girlfriend visits him well after he’s no longer ill and has to resign, but this tosser transports the virus 275 miles north (his wife later got it too) and it’s “reasonable”? FMD.

Fallsballs · 23/05/2020 12:09

I’m pissed off too. I remember one of my main fears at the beginning of lockdown was what would I do if I got seriously ill and who would look after my daughter. It was so so scarey being in that position alone.

More fool me because I could have driven 100 miles and dropped her off with relative but I didn’t think that was allowed.
They’re cunts.

B1rdbra1n · 23/05/2020 12:09

Why are they all so loyal to the blonde magician and his slimy accomplice?

Notmyrealname855 · 23/05/2020 12:10

Rishi really disappoints. Really really disappoints.

How is enforcement of the law political point scoring?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 23/05/2020 12:10

Raab said they had coronavirus

Media is saying suspected

He would have been one of the first in line to have a test (based on goves daughter getting one...so i may be wrong)

Its honestly gross with the whole ‘caring for your wife and child is not a crime' comments...we could all have fucking said that

GreyGardens88 · 23/05/2020 12:10

Outrageous statements from Rishi Sunak and Demonic Raab. Really really shameful.

EvilPea · 23/05/2020 12:12

Love that gove has piped up when last week he was saying "the message is very clear"

not that clear, that we get it but you lot don't.

Fools to accept the rules
So it seems, we are just a flock of dumb sheep🐑obediently quivering in our pens while the wolves are having a party in the woods🐺
