Basically I am sceptical about how terrible this could be to get for all of us - the mild illness stuff has been dropped as not helpful to the general lock us all up thing.

Regardless as a law abiding person I've stuck to the rules.

Which I thought meant you had to self isolate if you had symptoms and no, you couldn't go somewhere easier. If you had kids you all stayed in together, relied on deliveries or the local council support schemes and 111 if it was bad.

So I'm sickened by the knot tying in getting Cummings off the hook.

A friend of mine was the same but her children were sent to family because she needed to go into hospital on two occasions. It’s not always as easy as dragging yourself through it.

There's a huge difference between a child going elsewhere for essential care and two ill adults travelling for 5 hours.

They have family in London. They are wealthy, and connected, enough that the sister or one of the nieces could have been brought down to to collect the child.

And the advice was if a member of your household was showing symptoms they should try and isolate within your home (staying within a single room, using a separate bathroom if possible, the well person passing them meals - remember all that?)

This is rewriting of history to say now that if there are two adults and a small child, and one of you was ill then you can drive 200-odd miles to a different address just in case the second adult got ill.

I hope Keir Starmer pushes this.

Cummings really is despicable. Years ago he would always be on the door of this shit nightclub we went to every week ( because there was nowhere else to go in Durham), looking and acting like a gestapo wannabe in this long leather coat, treating people like shit even then. The regulations say to stay in unless to provide care - relevant exception is to escape a risk of harm. Not sure that's met in this case.
