Just curious.

DH had it back in March and now I have it. We’re lucky we both had it mild.

However he said something today along the lines of - I think you’ve been wanting to get it.

Made me think. I’m 44 and obese but otherwise healthy. Even given the obesity, still almost certain to survive and not get seriously ill. However I was not lining up to catch it.

Having had it though, I can’t say I’m crying buckets over it. Especially since the evidence is that there is immunity from it (I know the doom mongers like to think otherwise). I suspect by the time the immunity wears off there will be a vaccine.

So I can’t say I’m upset at having got it out of the way.

@CrazyCatMamma please can you post a link with evidence that multiple NHS staff have had it twice as I can’t find any? Surely there should be some public records?

NaturalBornWoman · 22/05/2020 12:56

@ACautionaryTale have you been tested and if so how did you catch it during lockdown?

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 12:59

@canigooutyet I have I can’t find anything from any country, please post a link if you can find one?

leckford · 22/05/2020 13:00

I have just been for an antibody Test today, private, I had it Jan/Feb. All my friends had it, it affects people differently. I had it quite badly, took 7 weeks, did not go to hospital. Husband just got the red eye thing, which is a symptom. Others hardly noticed.

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 13:01

You can buy the antibody test from Superdrug, does anyone know if they are any good?

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 13:24

@Alex50 where have you been looking for evidence exactly? Do you mean googling? Try a bit harder.
South Korean study - people have tested pos-neg-pos again up to 82 days later, reinfected, but not contagious.
Carrier ship in USA - five sailors removed after testing pos-neg then pos again and becoming ill gain.
People’s medical records aren’t public property.
I’ll ask my friends if they are willing to come on here and share their experience with you.

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 13:28

I’m talking about medical staff catching it twice, please can you add the link?

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 13:30

I want medical evidence please not someone coming on here as how can I prove who they are? there must be documented evidence somewhere?

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 13:32

Please can I have the link for USA carrier ship sailors catching it twice?

SunbathingDragon · 22/05/2020 13:34

What about those who survive and have lifelong neurological, heart or lung damage (or something else that we haven’t yet linked to the virus)? Or get it and survive without any repercussions but pass it on to your child or parent and they die?

Lweji · 22/05/2020 13:42

I'm doing my best not to catch it, but I'm not living in fear of it.

I don't want to catch it because there's no way of knowing how bad it will get and not keen on spending any time in bed feeling horrible. Also a single parent.

We still don't know the long term consequences of catching it.

beabitnicer · 22/05/2020 14:09

I wouldn't be lining up for someone to inject it into me but I wouldn't be stressed about catching it so wouldn't change any of my normal routines/hygiene levels.

Similarly how freshers flu goes round my uni every year. I'm not stressed about catching it but I still wouldn't go licking something someone had coughed on to purposefully get it. If I get it I get it and I'll feel crap for a couple weeks but get over it but if I don't get it, yay, I don't feel crap for a couple weeks but otherwise it makes no odds to me.

Herpesfreesince03 · 22/05/2020 14:23

Op there are multiple reports of people catching in twice, in many countries. Where is your proof that you can only catch it once?

Herpesfreesince03 · 22/05/2020 14:24

And more importantly, why are you driving like a complete dickhead and putting peoples lives at risk?

AgeLikeWine · 22/05/2020 14:29

Yes, of course if I was 100% guaranteed make a full recovery with no long-term ill-effects, I would want to get covid.

The whole point of this awful situation, however, is that no such guarantee exists and covid is a disease which kills elderly and vulnerable people in significant numbers and also kills very small numbers of young, fit healthy people. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

DustyMaiden · 22/05/2020 14:35

Yes if you can identify everyone that wont die and they catch it and get better, the world can get back to normal. Shame you can’t.

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 15:38

@Alex50 google is your friend. Try putting the keywords in 👍🏻

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 15:40

Also - as for the link to the medics I know- there ia no link. They are my actual friends. As I said, I’ll ask if they can come on and tell you about it, or if they can create a link just for you, an internet random, just so you you have proof!

Looneytune253 · 22/05/2020 15:48

Yes I think I've had it and I do think I'm so much more relaxed now. I generally worry about illnesses etc so I think I would be in a right state about going back to work/kids going back to school etc

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 22/05/2020 15:52

No. I want to do more than survive. If we knew you got it once and had immunity I’d reconsider although the people I know who’ve had it mildly have been really ill.

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 15:54

@CrazyCatMamma I have googled I can’t find anything?

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 16:20

Here you go lmgtfy.com/?q=sailors+reinfected+with+covid+on+carrier+ship

canigooutyet · 22/05/2020 16:32

Covid-2019, Diamond Princess Cruise, various disease control centres around the globe, 21st February, Royal College of Pathologists, SARS-Cov-2

Searching for anything from the above might lead you onto the path for the answers you require. And of course, check the device/browser hasn't got restrictions.

And why does it really matter if one group of workers get it twice or not? Seems a weird thing to focus on to be honest with you.

But I will enjoy you providing anything that mentions medical staff don't get it twice.

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 16:54

Yes I found about sailors it also said tests weren’t 100% accurate. I can’t find anything on medical staff? I would like to know as there seems no information on this at all?

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 17:29

You sound a bit paranoid tbh
