Just curious.

DH had it back in March and now I have it. We’re lucky we both had it mild.

However he said something today along the lines of - I think you’ve been wanting to get it.

Made me think. I’m 44 and obese but otherwise healthy. Even given the obesity, still almost certain to survive and not get seriously ill. However I was not lining up to catch it.

Having had it though, I can’t say I’m crying buckets over it. Especially since the evidence is that there is immunity from it (I know the doom mongers like to think otherwise). I suspect by the time the immunity wears off there will be a vaccine.

So I can’t say I’m upset at having got it out of the way.

I’m not paranoid but would like to know facts, please supply a link?

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 17:39

Ok - after you supply one that shows clinical research that proves medics are immune... I’ll wait 🤦🏼‍♀️

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 17:41

No, proof medical staff have had it twice like you have quoted, link please? I’m not going to reply anymore as you obviously can’t provide facts.

Alex50 · 22/05/2020 17:44

I never said they are immune either 🙄

PorridgeStoat · 22/05/2020 17:44

The thing is with the "people getting it twice" thing is it's impossible to say whether all the tests have been accurate.. especially when there have been relatively few cases of this supposedly happening.

Not saying it's definitely not true, but afaik it's not been proven yet.

GreyGardens88 · 22/05/2020 17:46

No - We don't know what the long term effects are yet

PatchworkElmer · 22/05/2020 17:47

No thanks, I’m be a bit worried about potential lung damage- I’m already asthmatic, I don’t need anything to make it worse.

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 17:47

I told you - it is first hand fucking experience. They are my actual fucking friends. What part of that don’t you understand? But then again you don’t seem to realise that ‘can’t get it again’ and immune are the same thing. Fucking hells bells!

CrazyCatMamma · 22/05/2020 17:48

Sorry, that was aimed at @Alex50 who is either incapable of reading or plain stupid. Hard to tell

Inkpaperstars · 22/05/2020 18:36

Immune and can't get it again are the same thing, but the point is Alex never said that it was proven you can't get again. Not proven that we are immune and proven that some people have already got it twice are not the same thing.

Anyway I take your point completely Crazy that this is just personal reports you have heard, I guess we will all have to wait and see whether any cases of being reinfected are confirmed and make it to accessible data. I don't expect this illness to create long lasting immunity, but I am hopeful of a year or so.

canigooutyet · 22/05/2020 20:03

Are you a reporter @Alex50
This obsession you have is creepy.
It’s like you are trying to goad us and trying to make some statement.

Cut to the chase. Tell us why you care so much?

You believe someone else who tells you on the tv screen, who would hat have a clue if...
But people with actual experience as saying erm it does happen. But not enough.

You angling to start interviewing NHS about it?

Or perhaps as a way to blame them?

Tootsey11 · 22/05/2020 20:05

I've had it for over 10 weeks now. If I physically exert myself even a little bit, my chest hurts, my lungs are burning, my back is burning, my throat is still sore and my body trembles inside. Op, saying that if you knew wouldn't die, would you get it over with? Obviously I am glad to be still here, but it has left me in daily pain. For how long this is going to go on, who knows.

I don't really know what way to put it, I think it's just not enough to know that you won't die, it's the risk of the long term effects. No one knows if they are going to breeze through it or not. I thought I would if I got it, I'm 44, slim and very active.

squiglet111 · 22/05/2020 20:12

Yes. I think I've had it and thinking I've had it has made it less of a worry for me. I caught it from my daughter and it spread around my house, son and husband too. My mum caught it from me too, my dad might have had it. So knowing we've all had it has put me more at ease somewhat. Need the antibody test to confirm....but the last few months have been a lot easier to cope with than for those that haven't had it and fear it.

canigooutyet · 22/05/2020 20:14

Look for info about the Diamond Princess Cruises.
There were 3 or 4 cruises involved but the Diamond is the easiest to search.

I’m not even a reporter lol but I’ve been watching it and finding out more. Researching more. It’s not like it’s hard now, 5 months ago then yea search was erratic.

If this doesn’t work for reporters you are more than free to contact me and we can discuss how much you are going to pay me.

squiglet111 · 22/05/2020 20:20

If it was possible to catch it again then how come it doesn't keep re-infecting people in same family?

If it was possible to be re-infected then we would know this by now because people would be getting re-infected and it would be all over the news. The report every thing so I doubt they would hold back on something so serious. Also, we would know of people that have had it twice, friends and family info etc... If there was cases of people being tested covid free, then testing positive, then the tests were probably in-accurate. So if you think about it logically then it's not re-infecting people

canigooutyet · 22/05/2020 20:45

By that logic when I had it, so should everyone who came into contact with.

I was the only person and remain the only person to have gotten it from me once I had full blown symptoms.

And which app? The one I was trying to use that wanted me to check in daily, or the latest one that has or is still having, issues?

Iirc the original Sars has/had a limited amount of immunity. It was that link that gave them something to start working with and info passed on. Plus of course the flu link.

Look at flu, many have had it more than once because the original flu virus has mutated so much, but the original “building blocks” still remain. And something to do with how the vaccine works.

*think it was Sars, and I’m really not in the mood to double check tbh.

It might not have been that particular ship I mentioned, but it was one of those that reinfection was there.

I don’t know why these things aren’t reported more especially here. Was reading international news a few weeks ago, concerning the U.K. At least a week later some media outlets here briefly mentioned it.

Cannot remember the particular thing, there’s been quiet a few.

canigooutyet · 22/05/2020 20:54

This is weird, random and well

Somewhere in the world, some local company or something came up with a great, but erm wtf, hospital bed design.

It was designed so if you died whilst on the bed, the top part turned into a cardboard coffin.

Yea I know whaaa? Think I read about it in some local newspaper from a village in Italy, and the country somewhere below North America.

And sorry if I seem to be banging on about it or whatever. I’m not even a scientist 🤣 it’s so interesting what’s going on at the moment. And as you can imagine I drive people crazy in rl 🤣
