Fuck I’ve got a sore throat

I have a sore throat that has only just started. I’m worried that if it is the coronavirus I can only have caught it from my children, who split their time between here and their fathers house who is a key worker. Won’t this mean that I will have had a huge viral dose or load or whatever it’s called? My children are young enough to be all over me most of the day. Tonight I noticed as well that my eldest has had a bit of a cough all day. I had put it down to hayfever, other than that they are both absolutely fine.

I cough when my hayfever is particularly bad, it's been a pain in the arse through this as you dare not cough in public. Hayfever tablets don't do much for me bar giving me a migraine and a really sore nose.
Your throat could be sore for a number of reasons, it could be a change in the weather in the last few days, it could be stress, hayfever, dust if you've been cleaning lots due to worry. All sorts!
Honestly, keep an eye on it, if anything else happens the NHS online symptom checker is really handy.

It's pollen season and loads of people have sore throats and sniffles. The more significant symptoms of infection by coronavirus are a fever and a dry cough which is new for you.

This thread is full of misinformation. FFS do not gargle Milton! That’s dangerous.

Center for disease control clearly states that a sore throats is a symptom. Try not to worry too much Op see if you can get tested, it’ll put your mind at ease.

Op mine started with a sore/itchy throat, then a mild temp. The cough only set in a few days later when all of my symptoms ramped up. I the. Developed pain in my chest and back when breathing, mild conjunctivitis, complete loss of smell and taste ( I cpuldn’t even smell my teenage DS) a little bit of v&d and extreme dizziness to the point i couldn’t Stand up without falling over. My kids and DH had it more mildly although DCs had the corona toe rash quite severely.
Not one of us had symptoms exactly like the other. DS2 seemed to get a cough and mild temp only.
We are all well and good now, although I get fatigued more quickly than I used to.
If you suspect you may have it stay home.
One other thing, which happened to a few other people I know, the symptoms would appear to be getting better and then all of a sudden I would take a turn for the worse. This happened a good few times. So if you do have it don’t be alarmed if you find yourself in that situation too, it is all part of the course. Good luck and get well soon.

I had really sore throat last week and had a test (advised by work) it was negative. Think it was more than likely hayfever. It felt itchy at the back of that makes sense.

DoogleBug · 19/05/2020 09:02

I’ve woken up this morning with all my legs aching and DS coughing much more frequently, although still seems fine.

Somehow I didn’t notice the eldest coughing before. Blush

Are you all self isolating at home now? I’d phone and ask for a test to be sent out by post. How old is your eldest?

DoogleBug · 19/05/2020 09:40

@PurpleDaisies he is six.

What day is your test arriving?

Toomuchtrouble4me · 19/05/2020 20:56

I’d also book a test so that you know what you’re dealing with.

You can't just 'book a test'. You have to have symptoms
I may be wrong, but I think you can, if you have it privately.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 19/05/2020 20:57

How are you now op?

PhilCornwall1 · 19/05/2020 21:05

I've had one for 3 days and just generally feeling crap. I'm certainly not worrying it's "the" virus. I'll have to take a view in a day or two as to whether to have a chat to my GP as I'm immunosuppressed and with the medication I'm on, a cold is dodgy. But not worrying it's COVID-19.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 19/05/2020 21:06

Here on the Isle of wight we have the app, if you get symptoms they will bring a test kit to your door within 24 hrs but only for fever and cough. A sore throat doesn't warrant a test here. i wish it did, my throat has been on and off sore for 8 weeks.

PhilCornwall1 · 19/05/2020 21:19

Here on the Isle of wight we have the app,

Here in Cornwall I have the app too. Shhhh don't tell Matt Hancock!!!

bumblingbovine49 · 19/05/2020 22:00

Why? Total over reaction.
No it isn't her DS is coughing

You can't just 'book a test'. You have to have symptoms.
Her DS is coughing.she can definitely get them tested

Layladylay234 · 19/05/2020 22:43

If you report to 111, you'll be advised to get a test.

avroroad · 19/05/2020 23:03

@bumblingbovine49

Those comments were yesterday.

I acknowledged missing the sons cough over 24 hours ago.

DoogleBug · 20/05/2020 08:36

I’m ok so far. No cough or temperature. A very sore throat though. I don’t meet the criteria for testing. DS would, but as he seems fine I don’t want to put him through it to satisfy my own curiosity.
I’ve had a nettle like rash the last few days as well, which is now spreading. Very itchy and I’ve read that it’s associated with worse outcomes so I am worried about that too.

Sunshinegirl82 · 20/05/2020 11:24

Have you tried calling 111 or speaking to your GP to see what they suggest?

DoogleBug · 20/05/2020 11:49

Yes, they advised to take antihistamine for the rash and call back if “things progress”
