Hi does anyone have information, thoughts about when travel/holiday restrictions from England to Wales (Holiday self catering within Wales) may be lifted?

My grandma lives in north wales alone, I worry about her. She says police are patrolling the beaches so they are taking it very seriously. North wales just cannot cope with a surge of cases brought in by tourists. I'm thinking it will be quite a while yet op.

Im in pembrokeshire, West Wales.
The amount of people being turned back to England daily, that are caught, is ridculous.
I can't see restrictions lifting here anytime for tourists to visit

It's also not international

Cardiff airport has long haul flights from the Middle East now, so it is very much an international airport.

However as PP said it's closed so not relevant anyway.

savehalloween does it? Well I'll be damned. I was wrong. Thought it was mainly europe and the odd flight from further afield.

Me too, @Lollypop4. Our hospital wouldn't be able to cope.

Watching with interest. We have a cottage booked for mid August. But need to pay the remaining balance end of June. Bit worried as many places just offering credit note, but we can't go next year and it is with two families and they can't go next year as already have plans.

@MintyChapstick "people are just going to have to accept that holiday's [sic] are not going to happen this year."

You forget that 1000s of children have spent the last 8 weeks in small flats, with no garden, no safe outdoor space. UK is a massive country which is 90% agricultural/countryside.

France and Italy have realised this and are encouraging national tourism for July and August.

@rainydogday there must be lots of people in our position, with deposits put down, balances coming due, with no clarity on weather self catering holidays will be possible in the school summer holidays

You can never guarantee clear weather in Wales.

My MIL has cancelled a family holiday in August to a Scottish island, mostly because she’s worried that they won’t be welcome as there are few cases on the island.

I expect she’s right, they won’t be welcome, but I think it is naive to think this virus is going away, or that these islands can survive financially until there is a vaccine (which there may never be).

The purpose of the lockdown was to “flatten the curve”, so the NHS didn’t get overwhelmed, not to eradicate the virus. The government is already planning to roll back support for furloughed workers, it won’t be long before tourist areas see mass unemployment and businesses collapsing - and the virus will most likely still be with us.

CoachBombay so people can go to their second homes or on holiday (amber phase) but I can’t go to visit my mother even in the green phase? Amazing Sad

DD is at Cardiff uni but was in erasmus abroad until march when she came straight home, Her stuff is still in her house and needs to be moved out either back home or to the house next year. She actually has a welsh nhs keyworker letter, but seem a bit wrong to use it for that .
DH does not want to drive there and get turned back at the Seven Bridge. Not sure what to do really atm
