Zoe app has asked me to get tested- should I?

Hi, I recently downloaded the Zoe covid 19 app. I've ticked no to all of the symptoms asked about, but for 2 days I couldn't stop sneezing and my nose wouldn't stop running. After 2 days nothing at all. It was very strange. I put this on the app. Last night I received an email telling me to get tested for covid 19. Should I? I was thinking yes. Can I take my dc in the car with me if I do go? Home tests seem to be unavailable.

Any thoughts/experiences?

Ahhh, I see. I forgot about the gender versus sex thing. Indeed, people should answer what their bio sex was at birth rather than what it is now.

fadingfast · 18/05/2020 15:39

I've been doing the app and got an email on Saturday asking if I would go for a test. I've had some (very minor) impaired breathing and taste disturbances, on and off over several weeks. DH and I went to be tested on Saturday afternoon. It was a drive through, staffed by the army but the tests were self-administered. Bit tricky trying to understand what they were telling us through the closed windows as they all had masks on! Didn't take very long though and we got the results this morning (both negative).

Alone07 · 18/05/2020 16:28

Won't let me book a home test, just keeps saying I've either booked one already (haven't).
Haven't written my info down right (checked about 5 times).

AgnesNaismith · 18/05/2020 18:05

I have been randomly selected too - Ordered the home test yesterday morning, also ordered for family members. It is arriving tomorrow according to tracking details.

roxfox · 18/05/2020 21:25

Who that has downloaded the app hasn't been randomly selected?

SRK16 · 18/05/2020 21:29

I haven’t been selected 🤷‍♀️

LilyPond2 · 18/05/2020 22:22

I have downloaded the app, but not been asked to get a test. Agree that it's good if people get tested when requested, and that negative results are important too in helping the researchers predict which people have Covid.

Spam88 · 18/05/2020 22:30

I've been using it since fairly early on and haven't been advised to take a test.

SRK16 · 20/05/2020 15:50

Ok I have now been asked to take a test since reporting a headache over the past two days?!
I’m confused though, the page it sends me to says it’s only for essential workers. Is this what everyone else had?

SRK16 · 20/05/2020 15:52

Sorry I should have read the whole email!!

suze28 · 20/05/2020 15:59

I've been for a test today in response to an email from them inviting me based on reported symptoms (persistent headache). I am a key worker (teacher) and have been using the app since it was first launched.

KobeWan · 20/05/2020 16:45

I've been selected by the app too after reporting symptoms of fatigue. I opted for a home test which has arrived today and will be collected by courier tomorrow. I am a key worker but I don't think that's necessary now anyway? I thought anyone can have a test. The email said select 'ok, I can apply' and later 'volunteer' or something similar. Can't remember. I'm 99% sure it'll be negative.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 20/05/2020 17:17

I was tested today. Work registered the test. I havent had a sense of taste or smell since late feb when I was really ill. Believed not to be covid at the time as I had not been to china or any of the listed countries.

I called NHS direct because of the change in advice and work asked me to call. I am not ill at all. I got the link at 4.30pm yesterday and had the test this afternoon.

You can take your kids but have them in the back if possible (no idea how many you have). It was quick simple and easy.

Nhs direct said I should have it to help collate data. They also said they were glad I called to collect data for that symptom.

Lindy2 · 20/05/2020 19:57

I reported a headache yesterday and have been asked to take a test.

I'm sure it was a stress headache rather than Coronavirus but I have booked for a test as requested. The email said they are asking people they think may have Covid to be tested and also those that they don't think have Covid, (ie so don't panic if you get a test request). I hope I'm in the have not category.

I managed to get a home test. I already had a test last month at a drive through when DH, who is a key worker, had a temperature. I think getting a test from time to time is just going to become part of our regular lives from now on.

PoisoningPigeons · 21/05/2020 07:15

I did my home test this morning (my god, it made me gag and my eyes water) and am waiting for the courier.

I still have a veeeery slight sore throat but I am convinced I don't have COVID; we've been socially distancing for freaking weeks so where could I have caught it? I reckon I'm experiencing a weird form of hayfever.

Sameold2020 · 21/05/2020 09:37

I was gagging so much too, and I used to pick my own tonsils!! Mine was picked up v early this morning!! I definitely don't have covid.

Has anyone got their result yet?

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 23/05/2020 14:31

I've just signed up. The sex/gender thing did annoy me. It asked for 'sex assigned at birth' and which gender I identified as.

In medical research surely it's biology which matters, not feelings, so only the first question should be relevant?

(I accept it's possible that it may have asked further questions if I'd answered the second question with a different sex to the first as potentially they wish to understand how hormones and hormone treatment effect things?)

suze28 · 23/05/2020 14:40

I took the test on Wednesday (persistent headache) and got a negative result via email and text yesterday.

AgnesNaismith · 23/05/2020 15:54

No result yet

suze28 · 23/05/2020 18:17

@AgnesNaismith I went to a local testing centre for mine although it did come back more quickly than I anticipated.

Trevsadick · 23/05/2020 18:28

I took the test Wednesday and got results yesterday.

My emoloyer has arranged alot all over the country for employees. They said its an average of 48hours, but told me that the NHS says it could be up to 5 days.

PoisoningPigeons · 23/05/2020 18:29

I had my result (negative) this afternoon.

AgnesNaismith · 23/05/2020 18:37

Ah I did mine at home Envy (gag not envy) wonder if it’s quicker from a centre

RaininSummer · 23/05/2020 19:15

I have never heard of this app. Is it something which the government actually has requested that we do? I suspect I would waste their time as I seem to have a headache every day and am currently plagued by hay-fever symptoms after every walk.
