New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Hi all,

Sorry to everyone who is physically and mentally struggling this morning.

godhelpusall · 21/05/2020 10:17

I think for me the problem is that I felt completely better for 3 weeks and had convinced myself I'd fully recovered. I then relapsed for a few days - mainly gastric and malaise and headache and the weird doom/ burning skin. I'm now feeling better again, but I'm just waiting for it to relapse again. I can't trust that I'm getting better. I want to know if I've hot the virus still there in the background and it's going to jump out with new symptoms as soon as I think I'm better. I really want to just relax and enjoy feeling ok (still got tiredness and weak arms and legs but some of that is probably decinditioning) and a bit throat clearing occasional dizziness) but I'm stuck in a boring place of obsessing over how I feel every minute.

Mittens030869 · 21/05/2020 10:37

@godhelpusall

Yes that's how it was for me. I convinced myself that I only caught COVID-19 on 9th March, because my DD had it just before that, and I thought I might have caught it from her. (I could only have caught it from her if that was where it originated from.)

But it appears now that children don't pass it to adults, and she didn't pass it to my DH. So I looked again at the 3 weeks before then, when there had been 13 days of temperature of 38 or more.

And I heard about all the many cases of long-term COVID-19 symptoms and I worked out that it was a case of 'false dawns'.

I now think that DD2 and I probably both caught it at the same place, probably from someone who had it without realising it.

godhelpusall · 21/05/2020 10:40

I had it for nearly six weeks then recovered nearly 3 weeks then relapsed. Depressing.

godhelpusall · 21/05/2020 10:41

Also @Mittens030869 I think kids do pass it to adults

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/05/2020 10:47

Next door's 4 year old was coughing a good week before anyone in her family and they all came down with it. Anecdata but I'd not stake my savings on no child - child, child - adult transmission.

Mittens030869 · 21/05/2020 10:50

That's what worries me about DD1 going back to school, the uncertainty. She hasn't had symptoms and my DH has asthma. Plus, I don't have confidence that I couldn't catch it a second time.

I suspect that it's also possible that I passed it to DD2 rather than the other way around.

IMO, schools shouldn't open until the antibody tests have been carried out widely. That's the only way we'll really know how much community transmission there has been.

Otherwise the testing is proving very little at all.

godhelpusall · 21/05/2020 10:53

Any of you with CFS// ME give me an idea of whether this is PV or not? I need hope.

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/05/2020 10:54

Personally - and obviously my presence on these threads suggests that I'm biased about this - no child of mine is going back to school til September at the earliest. We are learning so much about this virus, as time goes on our ability to understand it and therefore judge the risk (and mitigate it) gets better and better. Also, I suspect the number of people who will have had it by September will double, which will also increase safety when the time comes.

Whatnext2018 · 21/05/2020 10:57

Do any of you test your oxygen with an oximeter? Do you ever get lower readings? I sometimes have 92 then it climbs up to 95, other days it’s 98/99, the 92/93/94 worries me though!

TheWooisStrong · 21/05/2020 10:59

I feel a bit rough today. Dizzy, and achey in my back/ribs - I have very slight lingering phlegm and coughing to clear my chest didn’t help. SOB, bit anxious and just off.
Spoke to my GP as I’ve been having palpitations, and I’m booked in for blood test and ECG next week.

Whatnext2018 · 21/05/2020 10:59

@Egghead68 Yes this is when I’ve mortally just walked downstairs, not doing anything energetic..other times it can be 70, it varies so much and pretty quickly

Whatnext2018 · 21/05/2020 10:59

@godhelpusall It’s awful isn’t it, I feel anxious about it constantly, which I know doesn’t help!

Whatnext2018 · 21/05/2020 11:01

I also have the weird thing in the throat, sometimes it feels a bit stabby? Also very stiff neck at the moment. I actually feel worse than I used to, this last week or so

Mittens030869 · 21/05/2020 11:07

Sorry, what does PV mean?

I'm afraid I'm not able to offer any reassurance on anything, though. The only thing would be that I'm still symptomatic, so hopefully when that clears up I'll be able to regain some strength.

MelClare · 21/05/2020 11:08

@godhelpusall thank you for the welcome.

@Whatnext2018 I borrowed an oximeter and the GP called me in and sent me to A&E when I told him my Sats were 92/93/94 a lot of the time with the odd dip below 90? Speak to your GP and see what they say?

Whatnext2018 · 21/05/2020 11:12

@MelClare it’s happened around three times in two weeks? It will start at that then climb, what did A&E say when you went? I have no cough or breathing difficulties

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/05/2020 11:14

PV= post viral (I think)

godhelpusall · 21/05/2020 11:15

@Mittens030869 P.v- post viral .
What symptoms?

Needsomegoodnews · 21/05/2020 11:27

@Egghead68 @TheWooisStrong I’ve got a return of phlegmy throat today too and after a pretty good few days my heart rate has shot up - it was going down to 65-70 when relaxed (even lower in the eves or lying) and up to 90-100 pottering around but today it’s around 90 at rest and 120 when pottering (and feels odd/thumpy as well rather than just being a number).

@Mittens030869 and @MelClare (welcome!) it’s somewhat reassuring you’ve had negative tests at this stage but wish we all knew what the hell is going on! I’m still waiting 3 days after ordering a government test for it even to arrive - doesn’t fill me with confidence regarding their strategy!

Mittens030869 · 21/05/2020 11:28

@godhelpusall

Oh of course, thank you.

The symptoms I still have are cough, temperature at times (not for the last 3 days, but I've been taking paracetamol for chest pain). Nausea, though again not for a couple of days. So good signs, but I've been here too many times to count my chickens.

Otherwise extreme fatigue, sweats /shivers. And dizziness at times and drowsiness.

The fatigue was already a factor because of the CFS, and the occasional dizziness and more regular drowsiness.

The sweats have felt the way my hot flushes used to and I've wondered whether I needed to go back on HRT. But I get shivers too.

MelClare · 21/05/2020 11:31

@Whatnext2018 A&E checked everything blood, sats, chest X-ray etc because lack of oxygen is obviously not good for you. My breathing was terrible then (vaguely improved since?) but my sats had gone up to high 90s so they weren’t worried. And a blood test showed there was no ‘stickyness’ which leads to clots.
It was a huge relief on one level but distressing in that they said ‘you’re tests are fine go home‘. With no mention of how or when this will ever end? Or any tips on what to do.
I’ve got my tips from everybody on this thread: rest, try to relax and don’t worry about tomorrow. (Take paracetamol or even ibuprofen if the pain is too bad.) Easier said than done but I’ve also seen that advice from doctors now after watching and reading all the helpful links people have posted.
Back to oximeters though, I’ve never used one before and the numbers did seem to fluctuate a lot, even from second to second. Very hard to get a clear level reading. Or is that just me? Smile

MelClare · 21/05/2020 11:40

Hi there @Needsomegoodnews your heart rate of 90 at rest and 120 when pottering seems quite high? Take it easy and rest today.
My heart rate has been peaking ridiculously every time I’ve moved for the last 10 weeks but it is finally getting lower and lower.
When the test arrives, make sure you read all the instructions and posting information fully. My brain fog meant that I hadn’t read everything properly and nearly messed up the time and place of posting?! Surprised I ever got a proper result because I sent it off later than I should’ve.

fedupofbed · 21/05/2020 11:43

Hi everyone, I'm not name checking this morning but everything everyone is saying rings true.

The virus seems to have affected every part of my body and it would to take too long to list everything, timelines, etc.

A very general pattern has been:

First few weeks raging temperatures, flu like symptoms, sense of being acutely ill, SOB

Weeks following: low grade fever, SOB, lightheadedness, burning sensations especially in chest, reflux, GI problems, chronic fatigue, clammy feet, insomnia, agitation.

I think week 7/8 I first noticed the cardio symptoms: palpitations and very fluctuating heart rate. All the other symptoms still bubbling along, recurring/remitting.

Weeks 10/11 cardio and SOB symptoms have died down a bit though still in the background. Noticing a very slight improvement in what I can do but complete relapse if I overdo it.

What has come to the forefront now is: headaches, weird feelings in facial muscles and constant agitation/ anxiety. The feeling of constant agitation/anxiety/panic is my worst symptom as I write. It makes my teeth chatter! I'm sure this is the next (and hopefully final) stage for me. I know others are going through this heightened anxiety now too and think it is another phase/physical symptom of this virus/post viral condition that some (but not all of us) will experience.

MelClare · 21/05/2020 11:44

@Mittens030869 I’ve been having the same hot flush/chills or is it just hot flushes dilemma the whole time! Doctors have asked if I’ve got a temperature and I’ve said I don’t know, could just be hot flushes? But I had kinda stopped having those and now they’re almost constant throughout the day?
Do you think it’s a type of mild fever? I can’t get hold of a thermometer, all seem to be sold out?!
