If the government restrictions stayed in place?

So until May 2022.

I live on my own. So no.

CatRamsey · 13/05/2020 12:15

No please stop scaremongering

KingOfDogShite · 13/05/2020 12:15

No.

EmMac7 · 13/05/2020 12:16

No, not for a 0.5% chance of dying.

isittheholidaysyet · 13/05/2020 12:17

I would rather die.

ZiggeryZaggy · 13/05/2020 12:17

If I could carry on working from home most of the time and the children had online lessons, I could do it and still be happy. Would prefer not go though, but don’t want to go back to the busy, exhausting pace of life I had before either.

BirdieFriendReturns · 13/05/2020 12:17

Not scaremongering, I keep reading posts on here saying we will be in lockdown “forever.” So it’s okay for them to say that but not okay for me to gauge opinions on staying in lockdown.

Many people are indicating they would stay in lockdown for “as long as it takes.”

That would be economically impossible, OP! It ain't going to happen, whether people want it or not.

blue25 · 13/05/2020 12:19

Yes if needed.

lubeybooby · 13/05/2020 12:19

If that was what it took. Don't think it will be though.

Madein1995 · 13/05/2020 12:19

Nope, I think it's gone on long enough quite frankly and fully agreed with the phased return. The risk for so many people is minute, yet everyones acting like if theyll get it theyll die. Even healthy young people are getting into a flap and refusing to leave their house because of it. You dont see those same people refusing to drive cars or cross roads which actually have more risk involved

TheWalkingTalkingRed · 13/05/2020 12:19

Absolutely not. And that is completely unrealistic as well.
If people want to, and can afford to stay at home, and want their children to spend the next two years locked inside with no social interaction, let them.

cathyandclare · 13/05/2020 12:19

No please stop scaremongering

I don't interpret it as scaremongering, more a genuine question at what point do we draw the line?

wildcherries · 13/05/2020 12:20

It is not going to happen. But I wouldn't. I just wouldn't cope for that long.

TheWalkingTalkingRed · 13/05/2020 12:20

But I certainly won't be.

Posted too soon

I am fortunate in that I've a job I can do from home, a nice house with a garden and a small amount of savings incase shit hits the fan. However, I know alot of people arent as lucky so I think being in lockdown for the next 2 years would be horrible. Selfishly, I would also worry about my DD who is already a shy only child so her social development and all the benefits of being with peers would be negatively impacted without nursery, play dates etc.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 13/05/2020 12:20

No of course I wouldn't be happy. We could do it - DH can work from home indefinitely, I'm an actor so can't work atm anyway, bar the occasional bit of self-tape or Zoom readings, so have been able to manage the home-schooling, and the DC are good kids who are actually still working and learning.

But we'd be miserable. We are already missing our parents and sibling and nieces and all the rest of the extended family. We want the DC to go to school and play with their friends. We want to be able to go to playgrounds and on holiday and to the theatre and out to restaurants. So we'd do it if we had to, but of course we wouldn't be happy about it.

Love51 · 13/05/2020 12:23

I can't see it happening. I'm enjoying working from home and not having to drive though. The is no way that the inequality perpetuated by keeping children home would be allowed to continue that long. I think the human cost would be deemed too great.

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 13/05/2020 12:24

No.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 13/05/2020 12:25

No I would not

BirdieFriendReturns · 13/05/2020 12:25

Whilst we certainly won’t be in lockdown forever, I can foresee the UK being the last country in the world in lockdown in a year.

OP posts:
lou967 · 13/05/2020 12:25

No. I think that the UK needs to start the economy again.

We can't stay inside forever.

cadburyegg · 13/05/2020 12:26

I would support some restrictions still being in place of it was still deemed necessary - Social distancing etc, WFH if possible

I would not support not seeing my parents or my child not going to school for 2 years

Psainsta · 13/05/2020 12:26

I wouldn’t be happy about it but I’d do it

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/05/2020 12:27

People can stay infinitely in lockdown if they want to. They just won’t be paid to do no work forever. But if they have enough money and want to homeschool and isolate their children until adulthood, they can crack on.
