Shame we don't have an election for ages.

But great to finally have some opposition to this government again, particularly as UK deaths overtake every other country in the world apart from the Us, that has a population 5 times as big.

He’s absolutely smashing PMQs and it lovely to watch him decimating Boris. Highlight of my week at the moment. Starmer is our future Prime Minister, make no mistake about it.

chomalungma · 13/05/2020 20:39

Highlight of my week at the moment

Mine too.

I am just waiting for Johnson to go on GMB with Piers Morgan

FliesandPies · 13/05/2020 20:39

We would be eating grass now if Corbyn had won

Don't you eat grass anyway?

MadameMinimes · 13/05/2020 20:43

When Telegraph columnists are writing headlines like “Keir Starmer took Boris Johnson apart like a Duplo train set” it is bad news indeed for a Tory PM.

pontypridd · 13/05/2020 20:47

I think Keir is doing an excellent job. Very relieved that we finally have a decent opposition.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/may/13/boris-johnson-resorts-to-bluster-under-keir-starmer-cross-examination

"Give it time and Boris may well cut to the chase and just plead guilty in advance to save him the torture of answering six questions, but we’re not there yet, so Starmer opened his folder and asked the court to consider Exhibit A."

Alsohuman · 13/05/2020 20:54

“Things are now so bad that every time Boris opens his mouth, he only encourages the jury to convict him and the judge to increase his sentence.”

Stunning. Can’t wait to see Marina Hyde’s piece.

scrambledbrambles · 13/05/2020 20:55

Just catching up now. Am delighted with the new LotO.

chomalungma · 13/05/2020 20:58

"“I’m baffled,” said Starmer. Baffled is QC speak for ‘Now I’ve got you nailed, you filthy lying toerag’

Jeffersona · 13/05/2020 20:58

PMQ's current format suits him as well as the open goal of just how inept the Tories have been.

Corbyn was bad at PMQ's but the bear pit nature of it didn't suit him, being heckled and shouted down all the time by the feral mob on the benches. Boris needs that now. It's like Question Time without the audience, it's more grown up.

howdidwegetheremary · 13/05/2020 21:05

I didn’t think anything would make we want to vote Labour less than JC.....then came KS

ragged · 13/05/2020 21:13

This. I mean. Wow. Just Wow. From the Torygraph.

I'm interested in how Starmer will do when the HoC is back to its shouty rambunctuous self, though. Maybe his calm factual approach will look stolid & tedious, then.

I think he's doing brilliantly. I would feel so reassured if somehow a miracle happened and he was somehow in charge. It would be like when the 2008 crash happened and it was bad but there was a sense that the man in charge had a plan and was dealing with it in the best way possible.

Annamaria14 · 13/05/2020 21:23

Great name too

Clavinova · 13/05/2020 21:30

Don't get too excited - usual stuff from the same columnist;

BeltaneBride

“Easy to be a back seat driver. We would be eating grass now if Corbyn had won.“

How and why exactly? He would have ordered all farms to close down?

If you actually believe that, you’re an absolute idiot.

Alsohuman · 13/05/2020 21:38

Those two are from last year @Clavinova. You must think we’re bloody stupid.

Clavinova · 13/05/2020 21:47

Those two are from last year @Clavinova. You must think we’re bloody stupid.

Deliberately so - nothing changed there then - what would be the point of me linking to something the columnist had written 3 weeks ago?

FliesandPies · 13/05/2020 21:50

Fair point but Labour mp's will all be there as well to shout out and I wouldn't be surprised if Bozo's previous crowd suddenly find they're just a bit too busy to attend..

GirlsInGreen · 13/05/2020 21:53

It's painful watching PMQ - Johnson is totally out of his depth & being properly eviscerated by Starmer.

I think that's why Rees-Moggies has asked MP'S to come back in June. Boris's show falls apart without his chorus line.

I don't think Johnson will be here in '24. My prediction is Sunak will win the leadership contest.

Johnson doesn't look well - I think it's becoming clear to that he's not up to the job. He's a good time boy for the good times.

Because I wish all well - i'd love him to resign citing a damascene conversion after being ill, wanting to spend time with his new baby & other children.

Seriously he's a damaged individual - what the fuck happened to him at that prep school?.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 13/05/2020 21:53

Says who , the evening standard ? And who’s the editor of that rag ????.

effingterrified · 13/05/2020 21:56

No, says the people. The electorate.

The ones whose votes matter.

Absolutely. It's pathetic. The man has no integrity.

I am glad we have a parliament of adults now rather than the playground style we normally have to put up with.

Staying like this would force change towards better governance and less game playing.

AdoptedBumpkin · 13/05/2020 22:00

He seems more Prime Ministerial than Boris. There is some light at the end of the tunnel for Labour.

LynetteScavo · 13/05/2020 22:05

Yes, but if I'd done my hair, put on a nice dress, gone on National TV and given a speech this week I'd probably be more popular than Boris Johnson.
