It's fab isn't it smile, the difference this has made to DD2 is clearly visible. She's come alive for want of a better word, and has roped her brother into a trampoline contest while I gossip with DD1 😊

Ok....so I have broken. Can't do it anymore.

Going to meet my friend to walk the dogs and tomorrow I am going to see mum and dad. We will SD of course.

But I cant do it anymore. So, me and the kids are going to sit in their back garden tomorrow.

CrowCat · 16/05/2020 17:27

Smile that sounds fab! DD1 and DS have just left and we had a mega round of hugs for the first time in 8 weeks and it was brilliant. DD2 is dancing round the living room saying how happy she is.

Peggy all I can say is good for you girl, just do it. We've had a brilliant afternoon and it's done more for our mental and emotional health than anything else ever could 😊

@Peggysgettingcrazy good for you, have a lovely time with your friend and your parents.

Willow2017 · 16/05/2020 18:24

Afternoon fellow murderers.

Sounds fabulous Crow glad everyone had such a brilliant day. And you too Smile such a boost to everyone.
Peggy go for it. You arent doing anyone any harm. If you can meet in a park you can meet anywhere. Have a lovely day.

I would love to go hug my aunt but even i need to be stoic and resist. Driving for an hour would no doubt get me in trouble up here plus her age so i need to just suck it up. The minute the rules are relaxed just a bit and with her say so....

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 16/05/2020 18:28

So happy to see all your happy, positive huggy posts. Enjoy your kids and parents and friends.

There's a thread where the majority are bashing someone for wanting to meet two friends in the park. I have a suggestion then.

Meet friend one at 2m distance. Then 4m away sits friend 2, so as to be 2m from each of the other parties. Now. What's the issue again??

Peggysgettingcrazy · 16/05/2020 21:33

Been and seen my friend.

Slightly odd as I met her at the park at the back of her house. I could see dp from her windows.

I just wanted to hug him. I miss the bastard. But that will come, I think.

I do feel better for seeing her. Missed her so much. I didnt want to come home. Cried my eyes out when I got in. Poor dogs are super concerned.

But I am very happy I did it.

CrowCat · 16/05/2020 22:38

Peggy I'm glad you did it. Doesn't it feel so cathartic? When DD2 and I met with my older DC today she was dancing after they'd gone and whilst I was on a high I also had a good cry! It's good for us though, to remember people we love and life in general still exists.

Covid detecting dogs??

Infection rate lower in London than anywhere else in the country??

Umm..

GnomeDePlume · 17/05/2020 06:54

@penguinsbegin yes, the stamen (the male part) produces the pollen, flowers have ovaries. It pleases me that the most useful flowers (like apple blossom) are also the simplest.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 17/05/2020 07:05

Good morning all!

I see the feothers started early this morning. Quite sinister as well. Claiming that kawasaki disease IS Covid I think the op says '8 month old baby dies of Covid (kawasaki)'.

No understanding that kawasaki has been around for years. No understanding that other things can trigger it. As long as they can use it strengthen their case, it does matter.

I am getting the distinct impression some posters want the very worst things to happen.

GnomeDePlume · 17/05/2020 07:46

I think some of these disaster mongers are siezing on anything to exercise their fear. They are seeing conspiracies, that we are being kept in the dark about Covid19.

The reality is that this is a new disease, we have lots of people who have had it. Because HCPs are looking they will see things which if they were isolated incidences would possibly have been overlooked as being related to Covid19.

It does seem that Covid19 is triggering an immune reaction in some people: inflammation, blood clots, skin reactions. We dont know if these are specific to Covid19 or are part of a reaction to any major infection. My personal view is that it is probably the latter.

HCPs and scientists are learning as we go through this. Many major medical developments come when we have a high number of incidences of the same thing. The first challenge is to keep people alive in the initial crisis. Once we have managed that we start to see and have to learn how to treat the longer term consequences.

There is no conspiracy of silence.

110APiccadilly · 17/05/2020 09:19

Most diseases have fairly rare unusual consequences/symptoms, don't they? The problem with Covid is these rare symptoms are getting reported extensively so (some) people think that every symptom happens to everyone.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 17/05/2020 09:21

It seems to be like a big Gotcha! moment for some posters, because overall the science showed children to be mostly unaffected.

OP posts:
Peggysgettingcrazy · 17/05/2020 09:23

Apparently the kawasaki society are saying there are less cases being reported for this time of year.

Winter & Spring are the times its most common. So cases would be up. But if covid is causing this huge kawasaki problem, why are there less cases than usual?

110APiccadilly · 17/05/2020 09:29

I know. Some people do seem desperate for it to kill children. (Am I allowed to say I know it's tough having them at home all day, but still...) There's a lot of evidence strong to mount up though and it all seems to point to confirm being generally unaffected.

When I was a child, I was seriously ill with something that generally only affects those with compromised immune systems. I didn't have a compromised immune system. That doesn't mean I can be held up as a counter example to the idea that that illness generally only affects those with compromised immune systems; it means I was a rare case. I'm the same way, that a child has died of Covid is tragic, but it doesn't prove it's going to affect most children.

Although if I had a child with serious underlying conditions, I'd be being very careful. But that's a bit different.

110APiccadilly · 17/05/2020 09:30

*evidence starting to mount up

GnomeDePlume · 17/05/2020 09:37

@110APicadilly yes, there will be a range of subsequent conditions following on from a serious illness. Whether a person gets none, some or all of them will depend on a number of factors not all of which we yet know.

A child dying is an absolute tragedy but should not be taken to mean that Covid19 is going to be a secret child killer.
