Happily the border is highly porous - I suspect this will mean vastly different levels of lockdown are not enforceable.

There's also the problem of what to do when England stop paying for all. But the roadmap reveals a terrifying lack of empathy or understanding of how people live.

Wales does have a genuine problem of having an older than average population. But that's no excuse for not getting testing sorted! It's also no excuse for leaving us all under house arrest for years.

GnomeDePlume · 15/05/2020 18:37

DS & DD2 would approve of cupcake clapping, nice and quiet (they get up at 2am for their home shopping picking shifts and tend to be trying to get to sleep at 8pm.

We will need flashlights for us too if NS keeps Scotland closed for as long as she wants to. Tourism closed for rest of year??? Where are we supposed to go?

Apparently my local council have decided to ignore the government's new guidelines and the message is still stay at home or else. That would explain the high rate of police since Boris' announcement on Sunday.

Fuck. That. I want to hug my adult DC. DD2 wants to hug her siblings. It's too much now. 8 weeks and we haven't touched another living soul.

Smile I thought that myself, who do the council think they are? Surely they answer to the government? Meh. Thanks for not ratting on me, I need those hugs! Local council can do one.

Willow2017 · 16/05/2020 00:36

Government have laid diwn the nrw guidelines council can get stuffed.
Its gonna cost this country big tim in appeals for all the ridiculous fines made illegaly

110APiccadilly · 16/05/2020 07:29

Yeah, councils can't override the government.

I wonder if we might see political power getting more centralised after this - devolution, mayors, etc haven't exactly helped to have a coherent response to this.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 16/05/2020 08:50

Morning all!

Not sure what a lot of councils are playing at. Several shared the 'officials VE day itinerary, which gave people the impression it was an official night off SD. Apparently the councils didn't realise it wasn't official and did realise that some people who have a few too many and it would go out of the window. Like it was hard to guess that would happen.

Now some are inventing their own lockdown rules?

Morning minions of doom.

I went to bed at 5 am, so I'm still half asleep.

I really don't get how certain councils can enforce what now are made up rules.

Good morning! I've already driven (gasp!) to go for a swim in the lake (double gasp!) Going to get chips on a walk later, ala our now famous Health Minister (the Welsh one, for clarity.) Might also go for a bike ride.

Also, one of our neighbours has dropped off home made biscuits (from a safe distance). So it's shaping up to be a good day.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 16/05/2020 11:19

Still jealous of lake swimming. There's a Lido nearby, but no swimming allowed. Some people do it but we just dip toes in. I miss the sea..

@PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock That's a shame, I was hoping you might have somewhere you could swim now the rules are a bit more relaxed!

I'm fairly used to cold water swimming. I did have a bit of a look around online but couldn't find anything that suggested it was a problem for the baby (and if my back goes badly wrong again, that will be a problem); also physio and midwife agreed it was a good idea in the circumstances. I am being very careful though - staying well within my depth and so on.

GnomeDePlume · 16/05/2020 13:40

Dropping off biscuits is a high risk activity. Far too much risk of breakage!

I have spent the morning planting out perennials in our new orchard. I bought them as plug plants, one of those offers where you get 400000000 plants for buttons. I was getting fed up of looking after them at home so took them up to the allotment.

Going to plant out lettuces this afternoon and get a few more seeds started.

Be busy and good fellow killers.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 16/05/2020 14:07

Our little "hedgie" (hedgehog we rescued last summer from a narrow plastic bag) is back.

DD is insisting it's not just any old hedgehog but Hedgie.

Going to do some research and see what we can put out for him, that won't also attract the billion foxes hanging around. We have plenty of those. Woke up one morning to find one in the trampoline.Grin

Obviously I should have left the biscuits in bleach for 24 hours. Just in case.

CrowCat · 16/05/2020 15:27

Afternoon murdering bananians, my kill count is in the zillions today. DD2 and I met up with DD1 and her DP in town and spent ages in B&M and Poundland. Then I got w call from DS and he was also in town so we hooked up with him too. My joy counter (and theirs) is off the scale!! Much laughter. They're now sat in my garden drinking tea and laughing some more. THE HORROR!!!

I happy. Can you tell?
