furlough is carrying on through June
Only if the employer does not reopen. Any company who reopens will expect their staff back and will stop furlough. They will not say, oh dear you can’t work for child care needs. I won’t open until you’re available.
And if they say, that’s ok, we don’t need you anyway and can Cover your work. Then you’re also out
There is no good news here. Furlough is an employers decision. It is claimed by the employer when the business is closed or only running on a skeleton.
Schools closing till July and companies opening in the next few days and closing furlough for their employees when they do is a disaster for many. It’s two months of not being able to do your job for any employee expected to go in, from non essential shops, offices, factories, garden Centers.the lot. These companies cannot furlough employees and hire new ones.
Either the staff come back or they get laid off. And if schools are shut and no child care then plenty of people, many of them women, are about to loose their jobs.
