So if you’re furloughed op is your company reopening any time soon?

FirTree31 · 07/05/2020 22:18

I wish NS would do the same.

StoorieHoose · 08/05/2020 10:09

@FirTree31 NS said when the schools came off that it was very unlikely that they would be back before August and has said nothing since to make me believe that that still won't be the case

Doidontimmm · 08/05/2020 10:17

Why are people saying companies will go back Monday? I’ve seen no confirmation of this?

Scottish schools break up for summer at the end of June. It varies slightly by area, but ours were due to finish up on the 24th, so sending the Scottish schools back on the 1st June would mean 3 weeks in before the summer holidays start.

You could footer about with the term dates, but I doubt they'll be back before the middle of August.

I’m worried about my child going back to school as much as the next man, especially as my husband is in the vulnerable category. However, I’ve got to agree with @Bluntness100 here. If offices/shops etc start to reopen but schools don’t then employees will be expected back at work whether you have kids or not. In that instance many mothers (as it’s always mothers but that’s a different argument) will be left with two choices, lose their jobs or find childcare, which will most likely be reverting back to grandparents which absolutely defeats the objective of shielding/protecting the more vulnerable elderly.
