Just wrote and lost a massive post so this will be very basic --as I'm pissed off it's all been lost

Under 4's at private nurseries,

  • will you be sending your under 4's back if they re open in June? *what's your reasons for/ against your decision? (Work/ child's development etc)

I can't find information on this anywhere but am keen to hear views.
I can see reasons for/ against so am on the fence right now. All my friends are keeping off if they reopen in June (all at different nurseries but same area) as we have had a very high rate of coronavirus.

I personally wouldn't want nursery to try and introduce any social distancing from other kids or the staff, I think this could be damaging when they are just learning to play together, share etc but would be happy for seating to be more spread out for example (not sure how as rooms have at least 20 kids in them so space is tight)

What's your thoughts?
Interested in hearing from childcare workers as well as parents- not here to judge and couldn't care less if you need nursery open so you can sit watching tv in peace Grin
Just opinions and thoughts/ experiences please.

Yes we will be sending ours back for sure. They only go part-time anyway, but are really missing the far superior learning/playing environment than the one we can provide at home. And also missing their friends and the nursery staff.

I think we'll send our 4 yr old DS back if it's possible even if it's just one or 2 days / half days.
He's an only child stuck in a flat with no outdoor space & 7 months of this before September when he starts school is not doing him any good at all.

Has anyone seen a clear message about nurseries yet?

@MrsP2015 the extended government guidance confirms if the numbers are right, nurseries will be able to reopen fully from 1st June, and until then should encourage anyone who is entitled to but not currently attending to take up their places (so those vulnerable children who will be better off in a nursery than at home with possible negligent parents). No need for 2metre distancing or PPE except when usually used, but small groups where possible, frequent cleaning etc.

Ok, thank you both.
