Judging by Nicola Sturgeons remarks today Scotland will remain In lockdown as it is now till the end of May while England will start easing up

Given we have so many less deaths in Scotland does anyone else feel Nicola is just making an independence point now

@giggly how will they pay for food?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 07/05/2020 23:20

Scotland also has a different R value than England, as far as I know. Different demographic, different stage of the infection. Of course our strategies may differ.

Isadora2007 · 07/05/2020 23:29

If they’d eased Scotland’s lockdown and not England’s- they’d have worried about mass exodus to Scotland. This way round we are all like “am I fuck going to England- I’d rather stay in lockdown thanks”...
I think NS has won over many people by the way she has carried herself throughout this time. And she is doing the right thing for scotland.

Blackbear19 · 07/05/2020 23:34

Giggly it's long established poverty kills.
If people loose their jobs how are they going to pay their mortgage?
Benefit certainly aren't going to cover it.

Poor MH kills too, I wonder if anyone has done a comparison between suicide rates in the last 2 months and the same period last year.

Mascotte · 07/05/2020 23:39

Some of the statements on here are truly inane. Of course people will starve with no income, it's already happening in my nice little town. People are suicidal and severely mentally ill. It's not selfish to want your dc back at school and seeing friends. It's incredibly damaging for young children to be stuck in lonely. Ditto adults.. we are social beings. And we need to work to make money to support our families.

Bathroom12345 · 08/05/2020 10:11

There are honestly just too many people wanting the lockdown and payment of furlough to continue for as long as possible for their own selfish reasons. They are also the ones that think ‘someone’ else will fund them if they run out of food.

We need to get things moving. Some twit who has clearly no idea is saying that we should all be ‘making memories’. She is a Teaching Assistant fgs! Living off the state and no work to do so good for her making memories! Never mind some people trying to work dealing with stroppy clients, chairing audios etc. My children are grown up so it’s fine for me but for those who have little ones. I really feel for them.

daisymay133 · 08/05/2020 13:53

Today is first day I’ve let us all break lockdown

I think it’s ott and the more and more I read the more convinced i am that it’s gone on long enough

Those at risk stay in by all means but my family’s risk is almost non existent
Dds are today meting friends having been in 7 weeks now and I won’t apologise for it

Many people I know are now coming out

I

Tigertrees · 08/05/2020 14:11

Why do your dds need to meet their friends more than everyone else's dc?
You crack on though and the rest of us will keep the r value down for you.

daisymay133 · 08/05/2020 14:19

I don’t mind if others do

Those who’ve are fit young and healthy should be going out

The issue is those people not isolating from those at risk

Or more importantly those at risk still going out - I’ve just been Tesco and there a woman with bloody oxygen tubes up her nose walking round

TigerKingQueen · 08/05/2020 15:18

From what I’ve seen on Facebook today many people have just given up, the local beach is packed, I’m working in my bedroom near a window and can hear lots of traffic and people walking past, it’s been silent for weeks.
Despite the fact I’ve rarely left the house since lock down and only to walk around the block when I have, I've today woken up with a high temp and banging headache.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 08/05/2020 16:40

the rest of us will keep the r value down for you.

Yep. To my neighbours and former friends - I won't report you for having your pals round, but I will sure as fuck judge you as the selfish bastards you are.

ssd · 08/05/2020 17:47

@daisymay133

What do you want, a balloon on a stick? You are a selfish idiot.

midgebabe · 08/05/2020 18:07

So thanks daisy.
Thanks to people like you, this whole crisis will be drawn out
Chance of greater numbers of deaths and future lockdowns goes up with every breaking of lockdown
People with any vulnerability won't be able to go anywhere for fear of meeting people like you. People who will be ok, but won't take action to help those who might not be so lucky
But just so long as you get to do your thing Now that's ok

Chillipeanuts · 08/05/2020 20:33

“Many people I know are now coming out”

They will make this emergency last longer.

TheSandman · 08/05/2020 21:16

@ daisymay133
Those at risk stay in by all means but my family’s risk is almost non existent

How? How do you know your family is somehow magically immune to a disease that has killed people of all ages?

Quartz2208 · 08/05/2020 21:21

@thesandman well simply you dont and of course no one is immune but for those under 50 the risk is very low

Now that doesnt mean you should break lockdown based on how many people did this afternoon quite a few dont agree

TheSandman · 08/05/2020 21:44

The risk is low of DYING from it- but not low for catching it and passing it on to some other poor bugger.

SudokuBook · 08/05/2020 21:57

Thing is though even if you assess the risk of dying as low if you get it it still means having to stay home for god knows how long until your household can be assumed clear of it. I don’t want to have to have our already curtailed freedom reduced further. I’d rather just try and avoid it. I reckon self isolation for household symptoms will be here until a vaccine is rolled out.

SudokuBook · 08/05/2020 21:58

Mind you maybe people who break lockdown willy nilly wouldn’t bother to self isolate either

frasersmummy · 09/05/2020 21:06

I think lockdown will be broken more and more if nicola sturgeon doesnt start giving up some hope for the future

3 more weeks and then. I'll look.again..

Well, for one, that's not what she said, is it?

Two, what do you want? Do you want her to lie?

Dead2me · 09/05/2020 21:32

Lockdown seems over hear in Edinburgh today, I went for a walk this afternoon and the streets were heaving, roads as busy as usual. People sitting drinking in the park, sunbathing by the water, a definite change

BilboBercow · 09/05/2020 21:54

Wales has extended lockdown. What's the betting Boris does the same tomorrow?
