I don’t understand

The rumours are flying around about lockdown being eased on Monday, schools back in June and so on. If this happens what was the point of the lockdown to start with? I know it was to protect the NHS, but are we not going to be back in the same position we were in 8 weeks ago? I know we have more ventilators and the nightingale hospitals but is that all we needed to lift lockdown?

I understand lockdown can’t go on for the sake of the economy but is it not too soon with the amount of people still dying and contracting the virus?

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite you've taken something I said paragraphs apart and suggested I said it in the same sentence. They didn't want a lot of people dying so it looked like they weren't handling the pandemic well and so that their statistics wouldn't look awful but ultimately, they aren't that fussed if people die, as long as it's not too many. Boris already said at the very start that people will die and that's something we have to accept.

So yes, they wanted to limit the amount of people dying but they had no agenda of ensuring no one died, hence why I said they don't care if we lose a loved one or our own lives. They have a goal and that's to look like they are giving the public what they need but with so many differences in everyone's needs, that's never going to happen. Although I don't know what Boris is supposed to do when he has that idiot labour leader infront of him saying things like 'you didn't lockdown soon enough', 'you didn't prepare well' but at the same time, has been demanding for weeks a roadmap out of lockdown while the deaths were still up at 700-900 a day Confused

These people don't really know what they're doing because they're too busy trying to look good and compete with each other for political gain and get the upper hand by making their opponent squirm

Boris is a man of good news so I am sure there will be a big relaxation on Monday to kick-start economy and schools prob back no later than June.

I don't think the track n trace will cope when the lockdown is eased.
