I have gone nuts and paid someone to come to my house and do an antibody test on us

Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

Disclaimer : it won't affect my behaviour in line with current government guidelines

I am so tempted with this.

JustMeAndMyTins · 06/05/2020 18:13

Have been reading along as I, too, have bought a (lab, ELISA) test. However, I bought mine from a medical test provider I use and they secured them earlier than the others but with a slight delay in actual delivery - a preorder basically. Should be here by 15th.

I don’t expect it to go one way or the other (maybe negative if anything) - I just want to know. I’ve had a couple of gnarly viral illnesses with no clear diagnosis and I’m curious. I don’t think it’s crazy at all and, while not 100%, I don’t understand this idea that they’re a waste of money. ELISA testing is not a stab in the dark.

Also, I’m not really sure at this point why people want you to qualify or compare symptoms when it comes to this subject. The possible symptom list a repeatedly-published matter of public record. We all know they vary and overlap with other things. Anybody’s individual symptoms are really quite irrelevant to this whole discussion.

@JustMeAndMyTins

Where can you order a covid Elisa test from in the UK? Do you have to attend in person for a blood draw?

Burpalot · 06/05/2020 19:06

I thought the results came within 24 hours?

imsooverthisdrama · 06/05/2020 20:46

She said yesterday results in 2 days .

Bananasandorangessss · 07/05/2020 05:08

OP, please post your results!! I wish there was a way of having someone take blood for you, I don’t think I can face squeezing it from my finger - this is the only thing putting me off doing a test myself!

HeyBippy · 07/05/2020 10:06

Following for the results

LaurieFairyCake · 07/05/2020 10:44

Just to update that I haven't had my results yet - I hope it's today !

Maybe we should open a book on it?

2/1 positive?

Dowser · 07/05/2020 10:52

Marking my place.

Missteebeee · 07/05/2020 14:41

I’m very tempted to try one of these tests

It’s cheaper than the one I had been told to look at

SebandAlice · 07/05/2020 15:41

It might be tomorrow Laurie. If it is the one I am thinking of they say that turnaround times can not be guaranteed at the moment.

LaurieFairyCake · 07/05/2020 16:23

Still not heard, I wonder if they will be working tomorrow though? It's a bank holiday

Op
I think it says quite a bit about the company providing this test that they’ve not been in contact. I’d be a bit worried about quality tbh

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 07/05/2020 17:12

I can’t believe how rude some people have been about what you’ve chosen to spend your hard earned on. I’d definitely do one for peace of mind, I’m high risk, think I had it in March but how can we know without the antibody test?

Also, less expensive robot vacs are available!

chomalungma · 07/05/2020 17:15

Just to warn people that there are now some fake companies out there trying to mimic websites and offering antibody tests.

I have a question. GP and Hospital Doc believes we have all had COVID in our house. We were not tested when symptomatic. If we did have it I had it very mild and so did 2 of my children. One child had no symptoms. My DP had more severe symptoms and was checked out at hospital to ensure no long term damage.

In this scenario would you accept this as a diagnosis? Or would you seek antibody test when available?

Upsidedownrightnow · 07/05/2020 17:43

Following to find out your results, also i think its your decision if your happy to pay for the test then whats the issue

Bananasandorangessss · 07/05/2020 18:15

@jewel1968 similar situation in my house but I’m adamant I’ve had it though swab at 11 days was negative - but think I tested too late in my symptoms - I will be doing an antibody test as soon as we can establish one that’s good and ideally drive thru!

Fingers crossed!

gingganggooleywotsit · 07/05/2020 20:27

Thinking of doing this myself! I'm sure I had it back in Feb. If I was tested and I knew for certain I had had it, and got through it ok, it would make me feel so much more confident about going back to work etc
