Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

Disclaimer : it won't affect my behaviour in line with current government guidelines

We’d love to know as well, I’d be happy To pay for peace of mind.

Peace of mind about what? We don't know how long immunity lasts but if it's anything like other corona virusses it won't be long.

AldiAisleOfCrap · 05/05/2020 16:58

@LudaMusser
If you find out you've had c-19 so what? It doesn't make you immune the most recent studies show its highly likely you are immune for at least a year.

SachaStark · 05/05/2020 16:59

I have a robotic vacuum, and I bloody love it. Top 10 on a list of “Stuff I Own”, excluding books.

Should’ve gone with the vacuum, OP. This sounds like a big old waste of money right here.

If you genuinely have too much money, you could buy the vacuum as well?

SunshineCake · 05/05/2020 17:06

Why? Is it really going to make any difference when one can get it more than once anyway ?

I hope it isn't the doctor on Harley Street.

Saladmakesmesad · 05/05/2020 17:19

Apparently quite a high percentage of people fail to get enough blood via finger milking method for those thriva tests and have to book in to get blood taken.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 17:21

Done Grin👍🏻

Apparently a proportion of those signing up to NHS Zoe app are being tested as a sample.

Dorual · 05/05/2020 17:32

I took this exact test. It came back negative today.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 17:33

Are you disappointed Durual?

AldiAisleOfCrap · 05/05/2020 17:34

Is this the blue horizon test?

SirVixofVixHall · 05/05/2020 17:38

Doral had you been pretty sure it would be positive? As I understand it, negative means maybe, as false negatives are more common ?

planetcloud · 05/05/2020 17:42

Following...

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 05/05/2020 18:01

How was it getting the blood out? Easy? Painful?

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 18:03

Didn't hurt at all, had to squeeze pretty hard and consistently though

Dh complained SO much and he took so long to fill it ! Like 16 minutes

Dorual · 05/05/2020 18:06

Yes I'm disappointed. I thought I'd had it. And I attended a covid unit so now I may have been exposed.

It's not too hard to get enough blood as long as you follow instructions. Warm your hands up. Exercise for a bit before to get blood pumping. Make sure you've eaten a bit before, and are well hydrated. Prick the side of finger tip not too close to nail. The braver you are to press the spring loaded lancet well, the more blood you'll get, and might be able to avoid pricking other fingers. You get 3 lancets.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 18:22

I will also be disappointed if I'm negative

@LaurieFairyCake- if its accurate why is government not using?

chomalungma · 05/05/2020 18:39

if its accurate why is government not using

An interesting question.

Maybe because they are not sure what to do with the results yet?

chunkycoke · 05/05/2020 18:39

Following this, very interesting

chomalungma · 05/05/2020 18:39

From that:

If a test result is a requirement for a resumption of work, a range of strategies to ‘game’ the system mayarise. These include people deliberately seeking out infection or attempting to purchase a fake test result, commercial organisations selling unapproved tests, or approved tests becoming available through private organisations at prices that make them unavailable to most. Assuming that health and social care workers will be providedtests for free from their employer, this risk is likely to be more relevant to other sectors.

Confuzzled123 · 05/05/2020 18:40

@Dorual has it been more than four weeks for your symptoms? I think it takes that long for antibodies to show up. I might be wrong though.

Discobar · 05/05/2020 18:45

@chomalungma - Thanks, for me this type of testing is key, I just don't trust what's on offer at the moment

IGottaGetOuttaThisPlace · 05/05/2020 18:47

I'm
Following to see what results you get. I think I've had it too.

Tdaadfb100 · 05/05/2020 19:00

This is the most exciting thing that’s happened all week!
